** Official 2014 Philadelphia Eagles Thread ** (2 Viewers)

I posted this in the game thread, but it seems more relevant to this thread.

I like what I've seen of Josey. Wonder if they try to IR Polk and have Shady/Sproles/Tucker/Josey as their 4 backs, assuming they keep that many. If someone picks up Polk, oh well. He had injury concerns coming out of college and you can't rely on him.
Can't rule out Barner.

Dan Baker isn't doing PA at the Linc anymore?
Nah. It was a big stink when they said they weren't bringing him back. Something about trying to make the experience more interactive. Imagine that means more technology based but not sure why that means they axe Baker. Can't imagine he makes that much money/has high salary demands. At least we get him at Phillies games.

He'd have to blow up next week to beat out one of the other two for me.

Tucker isn't very shifty, but he's physical and runs with some power. I haven't been a fan so far, but I liked his game today. He's also seems to be consistently around the action on ST as well, I looked for that this time. Was a shame Josey's TD run got called back, but he looked decent again. Polk's gone from #2 to the roster bubble this offseason.

I wonder what Buffalo would want for Brown.

Are you ####### kidding me Henery?
Remember when people thought he was our best pick in a couple of drafts. Not Brandon Graham. Not Riley Cooper. Not Jason Kelce. But Alex freakin Henery.
This team will win 10, maybe a 11 games but his inaccuracy will cost them in the playoffs again. Trouble is there is no one else out there that is better.
There's always a kicker somewhere. Much like in fantasy, if a kicker isn't working there's plenty to switch to because a kicker not making kicks is not worth keeping.

14 teams have 2 kickers right now. I like the chances that 1 of those guys is better than Henery.

Some cuts. Have to get to 75 by Tuesday. At 76 now.

WR B.J. Cunningham

WR Kadron Boone

TE Emil Igwenagu

TE Blake Annen

OL Donald Hawkins

OL Karim Barton

OL Michael Bamiro

DE Joe Kruger

DE Frank Mayes

DE Alejandro Villanueva

LB Jake Knott

DB Daytawion Lowe

DB Davon Morgan

K Carey Spear

--

Little surprised Jake Knott was cut. Thought he'd be on the roster after his 4 game suspension.

Also, as expected, starters won't play vs. Jets. Some 2nd team guys will not either, including Mark Sanchez. I was hoping to see him go against his former team. Barkley will start and presumably play most of that game.

@Jeff_McLane: Asked if WR Josh Huff (shoulder) was candidate for IR/short term IR Chip Kelly said, "I don't think so in terms of where his progress is."

It will be a good opportunity for Barkley to get some consistent reps.

Current list of Eagles Retired Numbers

D. McNabb - 5

S. VanBuren - 15

B. Dawkins - 20

T. Brookshier - 40

P. Retzlaff - 44

C. Bednarik - 60

Wistert - 70

R. White - 92

J. Brown - 99

So... who on the current 2014 Eagles will be on this list someday? Likely Shady, IMO.

Here's something that surprised me: McCoy, if healthy, will end the season as the Eagles all-time leading rusher. Only 1065 yards away. He's 4th after only 4 years as the starting RB.

1. Wilber Montgomery - 6538

2. Brian Westbrook - 5995

3. S. Van Buren - 5860

4. LeSean McCoy - 5473

Anyone else?

A lot of talk about trading Sanchez to Stl. Nothing but a first IMO is worth it. He's too valuable as a backup that can keep your season alive.

One of the journalists posted on Twitter that in 17 of the last 23 years the Eagles backup QB has started at least 2 games. Sanchez stays since I don't have much confidence in Barkley at this stage. And we play STL this year so #### them.

On Barkley he has irrational confidence in his arm. Sooner he takes a look at Koy Detmer's career and thinks "That's me" the better off he'll be. :lmao: that he tried to throw a deep out from the far hash in the last game.

Saw a tweet saying that Sanchez does NOT want to go to STL and reunite with former Jets OC Brian Schottenheimer(not that he'd have much say).

Sounds like a good move not to make if he wants to rebuild his career. Would be like Groundhog Day, defensive HC, weak offensive coaching in a division with a couple of defensive powerhouses.

Stay here for a year, learn all he can and try and pick a good spot next offseason. It's probably the first time since USC he's had good coaching.

yeah, considering they didn't sign him off the street in march I'd be a bit surprised if the rams offered a first for him now.

edit: maybe pats can get a first for mallet

no way the rams are giving up anything close to a 1st for either of those guys. I think a trade with New England for a 3rd and a 5th is most likely. Sanchez isn't going anywhere, and Rams would probably only give up a 4th rounder for him.

I'm having a real hard time listening to this completely fabricated media story about trading Sanchez.
They're going with Hill. I don't know what's worse: how bad local media is and the pathetic attempt to make up a story for ratings or me--effing idiot--for listening to it.
I refuse to click on any of these "stories". It started on twitter and now they're actually interviewing players and coaches about a random tweet. So dumb. I'm actually embarrassed for these idiots writing these articles.

Forgot Bironas is on the market. He's gotta be better then Henery too, right? Although lets see how this guy they traded for does next week...

Surprised Duce isn't on that list.

Actually makes some sense for Barkley to go to St Louis.
How so? He hasn't performed up to his 4th round draft position really... so I bet he would fetch nothing more then a 5th.
What you pay for something bears no relation to what its currently worth. If Sanchez is your guy at this point, Barkley is taking up a roster spot and cap space, so move him. Rams might be receptive to a project w name recognition.

TE coach Ted Williams said Ertz is one of ye best route runners he has ever seen. I am excited to see how he fares in year 2. He is after all, Chip Kelly's first ever offensive toy. I am expecting him to have a pretty big year, in the 800+/8+ range.

I don't think Matt Barkley should make this team
Marcus Smith doesn't look like he should make the team. And that pisses me off bad. Your first round pick should contribute something from week 1, if he's inactive for the opener, then it's a fail from the front office.
Was hoping to see more from him, too. But honestly, they were in no man's land with that pick. Everyone they wanted was gone.

Also, Cody Parkey has two 50 yard FG's in tonight's game. Hope he makes the roster over Henery.
