** Official 2014 Philadelphia Eagles Thread ** (1 Viewer)

We're on to Tennessee.

Eagles are 5-0 at home, and IMO going to play angry after getting stomped. TEN on a short week plus travel (Plays MNF tonight) should be a game Philly gets back on track.

A win Sunday and Philly's 8-3 and 2-0 in the NFC East. With all the injuries along the way at OLine, QB, and LB I'll take it.

So, it wasn't Huff's mistake - it was the coaching. He said so himself:

Late in the first quarter of the Eagles' 53-20 loss to the Packers, Huff was running unimpeded toward Hyde, who had yet to catch Donnie Jones' punt.

Once he was within a few years of the Packers' second-year returner, Huff slammed on the brakes. Hyde caught the ball, Huff stutter-stepped by him and reached out with his right arm.

But Hyde was gone.

"I just did my job, did what the coaches told me to do. I just did what the coaches told me," Huff said. "If I would have stuck to what I know, I would have made that play.

"If I would have stuck to what I know, just played my game of football, I would have made that play.

"That's all I can tell you without going into, without trying to get in trouble."
Does he have any redeeming qualities? He needs to be cut.
At first I thought he held up because he thought a fair catch was coming, but comments like that won't keep you on the roster for long. No accountability = no job.

I was fine with the Marcus Smith pick at the time, but they really should have gone CB now. It's obvious. Really bad first round pick, not for what he may become but because he can't play right out of he gate when we needed players.

Bradley Roby would look a lot better than Bradley Fletcher.

I thought the DB's have played a LOT better than we thought heading into the season

But they aren't getting any younger and are average at best. Williams cost us the AZ game.

Allen was the deep zone. The RB ran a pattern into the flat, Williams releases the WR to the deep safety to cover the flat like he's supposed to. 100% Allen's fault on that route.

I thought I read somewhere Williams was supposed to stay with Brown and Allen was supposed to stay deep.

Easy guys....Williams was tired from practice.

What a big kick in the Richard this week was.

I was trying to think of a game where the CBs actually played bad. We shut down Henne and Cousins when it mattered. The "golden boy" Andrew Luck had 100 yards going into the 4th quarter (I could be wrong). SF didn't do much. Arizona made us pay for busted coverage. That was only 2 plays out of the entire game. The Giants scored as many points as I have this season. Cam and A. Davis was all garbage time stats. Hopkins had a nice day. He just might be a emerging star.

I can't blame anyone for getting touched by Jordy Nelson and Aaron Rodgers at home. This was a game where we need to put up some points. We brought a knife (Sancheekz) to a gunfight (Rodgers). GB offense was going to put up 30+ regardless of any CBs in the the NFL. Throw in a punt return, Int return, and fumble return and you have yourself a ### whooping. Punts and FG won't cut it.

Man not to look ahead but that three game stretch is crazy coming up. Tough scheduling for us, with some "I'm looking into it too much" pros and cons to it:

Pros:

Dallas gets a Sunday Nigher on the road, giving them a touch shorter week to prepare for us on Thanksgiving. We get a comfortable home game early Sunday.

Seattle will be playing back to back road games when they arrive in Philly. However they do also get 10 days rest to recoup.

Cons:

Dallas gets a winnable game between our two games, and it's on Thursday so they get 10 days to prepare for our rematch.

We also get 10 days before the Seattle game, but so does Seattle so there goes that advantage.

Getting really excited and nervous for that stretch.

Settled a lot today. 5 fgs and 2 from 50+ is not going to get it done against Dallas and Seattle.
also had a few TDs and did we punt even once today???

Too mch nit-picking by Eagles fans in here today. It was a solid win.

Against a 2-8 team. Watching it didn't feel like a 43-24 win. It just felt off. I'm worried about Thursday. They need to be a lot crisper in only 4 days.

Thursday is probably a loss. Doesn't matter. The important games are Seattle and Dallas at home. Those are the 2 games we have to win (and take care of NYG & Washington). We took care of business today and it wasn't close.

Not sure I really feel much after this game. Titans are terrible and I fully expected us to win. I kind of mentally checked out not long after halftime. I guess with Dallas only a few days away it's hard for me to take too much away from this game. The Thankgiving game is HUGE for our season and will tell us what to expect...I think we'll really see what we're made of.

It's perspective. On one side we are 8-3! On the other, the criticism is well deserved.
Actually, no, it isn't. Offense scored three TDs and didn't punt. It's absurd to then criticize kicking multiple FGs. Offense scored 36 points for God sake. The only disappointment was two more turnovers.

They did punt. What are you talking about? Even you found something you disapproved of.

I don't think its been touched on enough in here but something is wrong with McCoy. I know it seems odd coming off of a 130 yard game but he is without question slower than last season.

I'm happy with the win. You can't take any nfl team for granted and in what many called a trap game and a potential lose I'm glad we beat them like we did. I agree with both sides a little bit here. There's some stuff I wished we did better but the game is not indicative of what we will do Thanksgiving IMO.

I love your positive attitude man, especially in a city like this. But...I can't remember ever seeing a team score over 40 and yet I felt uneasy watching it. Sanchez is as careless as Foles was but without the upside that we know Foles is capable of. I still believe that while he may not be the guy who was 27-2 last year, that hit from Baker messed him up. I hope like hell he can come back because Sanchez will never lead us over a quality team. And our secondary is just dreadful. This was a third string guy that still had success blow out or not. Color me officially concerned. Chip is 2-7 against playoff teams. Of course two yards and that record would be 4-5. But still, they beat the bad teams but they ain't nowhere near ready to move up a level in the playoffs as it stands now.

Man tough crowd. If you told me this Summer we would start the season 8-3 I would take it in a heartbeat. We aren't top tier but with minimal defensive additions and a bust in the 1st round what do you expect.

The 'vs playoff teams' stat is so overused. Most teams don't have winning records vs playoff teams.

Dallas is 0-2 this year vs playoff teams.

Green Bay is 1-1

Indy 1-4

I think that was an impressive win this week. If we go 3-2 over the next 5 games (dallas W, dallas L, seattle L, NYG W, Wash W), we still will go 11-5 which no one can be upset about... and also should win us the div.

In other news, Dallas does not look that good IMO
So the last 2 critical replays both go in Dallas' favor. With Jerry in the house. Needing a win to stay even with the Eagles, who they play in a prime time game billed as "for the division" :tinfoilhat:
Before watching the Sunday night game I thought we were going to lose on thanksgiving but after seeing them again I believe we win that game. 2 times I have seen Dallas in prime time games and they seem to try to lose the games. They did lose the Washington one and if the Giants DC watched 2 minutes of the Dallas/Washington game a few weeks ago they would have lost this one too.

Giants sure are helping out too.
Let's hope so, because losses to GB, SF and potentially Sea, I don't like our tiebreaker chances.
Ya, although a 5th place finish would be better then a div win 3rd place finish.
If we don't win the division, there's a chance we miss the playoffs at 11-5 if Sea and Sf get the WCs also at 11-5.
Seems a bit early but if Eagles go 11-5 that means they either beat the Cowboys or Seahawks along with Giants/Redskins. If they beat the Hawks, they'll have H2H over them. If they beat the Boys, they have divisional record over them, but that is assuming Boys don't finish at 12-4. Certainly possible but I'd be very surprised to see the Eagles go 11-5 and not make it. Some of these teams will drop a game or two somewhere along the road.

ETA: And Seattle/SF still have to play each other twice. So if the Eagles beat the Hawks, Seattle/SF couldn't both finish at 11-5. Heck, even Arizona might struggle to get to 11. They will most likely only be favorites in 2 more games.

Going there on such a short week is tough. I just hope the Eagles' D can hit Romo enough to find out just how healthy that back is. With clean, legal hits of course.

I don't think they are that good but man our D is bad. Keeping Murray in check will be crucial but will have to hope Sanchize can handle a shootout.

I was really worried about the season slipping out of out control next few games until I seen Eli do whatever he wanted with the Dallas defense defense. Sanchez and this offense should be alright.

Hope you're right. I think a lot of people have this penciled in as a loss but even though I'm genuinely concerned because Sanchez's turnovers and the secondary, I still think they can go and steal this.

May come down to which QB turns it over more.

Our D is nothing to write home about but neither is their D. One thing about our D is that it usually does well against RB's and #1 WR's. I just dont like what I see from Dallas in prime time games. If we get pressure like we have been getting we should win this game IMO

Our defense does what the coaches want. We traditionally look at stats like total yards or points against to grade performance, but I think that is the wrong way to look at this team. The philosophy is to get sacks, turnovers and score points on defense. There hasn't been a better team at doing that this season. Will that win us tough games vs good-great QBs? I don't know, but the bad teams get ran out of the building quickly. There is obviously enough bad teams to go around to make the playoffs consistently. We don't have the Andy Reid vs 0-10 Raiders type of moments.

No but we do have Minnesota Vikings moments.
