Tim Howard has 12 saves in this game, tying the 2nd-most in a World Cup game in the last 50 years.

Howard's been great, but the idea that the US has been run off the field or has had no possession or completely out chanced is ridiculous. A lot of those saves were easy from a distance. Not every save is created equal.

Howard's been great, but the idea that the US has been run off the field or has had no possession or completely out chanced is ridiculous. A lot of those saves were easy from a distance. Not every save is created equal.

This was true in the first half- not so much in the second. Howard had 4 or 5 second half saves that were anything but easy

You use the sub if you have a player that is being abused and/or is tired, assuming that the sub fits the game
