nor even cardedLuis Suarez has never been on the losing team in a game in which he's bitten an opponent.
Ajax 0-0
Liverpool 2-2
Uruguay 1-0
Love the ESPN Live Scroll:

Giorgio Chiellini (Italy) wins a free kick in the defensive half.
exactly.I think it's a fairly debatable call. I don't know if there was an intent to stud the guy in the shin. That's what he did, though. I've certainly seen it given before, and if it looked like a deliberate stab/stomp to the ref, then it's an easy call.
And the altercations never seem that heated leading up to it. I want to say that he's doing it to try to draw a reaction and get the other guy red carded, but he can't possibly be deluded into thinking that's a +EV move after his last two experiences. Its so weird.nor even cardedLuis Suarez has never been on the losing team in a game in which he's bitten an opponent.

well, to be fair- it helps to stomp on the other guy's leg to help maintain possession.I mean Marchisio, had the ball - its not often you get a red card for a tackle when you have the ball...
Not sure I buy the theory that the Italians were too incensed to bother to mark Godin.Well this one was +EV.And the altercations never seem that heated leading up to it. The ref will note in his report that he saw suarez head but cheiliani but didnt think it was worthy of calling or carding. He wasnt sure what the Italian was showing him on his shoulder.I am going to guess that Suarez is not disciplined during the WC, if at all.
:noted:
This has been sloppily reported. The "FIFA" courts in South Africa were South African courts, set up by South Africa as a condition for winning the World Cup. I imagine its the same in Brazil. FIFA didn't just arbitrarily create laws and arrest people. They asked South Africa to institute laws (and even suspend some of their constitutional protections) in advance of the World Cup. That's scandalous enough, I suppose, but "FIFA Courts" is a misnomer. So FIFA can institute their own judicial system, sentence people to years in prison and do so in a swift manner, yet they can't suspend a player for biting someone on the pitch during a match?![]()
Now that we know they can, question is Will they?Richard ConwayBBC Sport

Doubt it. Still think he'll get a two year ban from international play though. Now that we know they can, question is Will they?Richard ConwayBBC Sport

Yeah... that little follow through at the end didn't show up in the other angles. I do think starting the video there is a little misleading though.Good GIF here shows the ref's view of the Marchisio tackle. Hard not to think its a red from that angle, IMO.
Sitting here I think the red is harsh. Had I been the defender getting spiked I would have been all over the ref had he not given a red...Yeah... that little follow through at the end didn't show up in the other angles. huh.. I saw the follow through in all the angles- albeit not as prominently as in this one.Yeah... that little follow through at the end didn't show up in the other angles. I do think starting the video there is a little misleading though.Good GIF here shows the ref's view of the Marchisio tackle. Hard not to think its a red from that angle, IMO.
What am I missing here? Looks like his studs graze the dude's knee a bit, but how is that a "tried-and-trued" way of breaking a person's leg? And I'm not really seeing any follow through...he twists his leg but I can't tell if his studs are still touching the guy at that point from that camera angle.Good GIF here shows the ref's view of the Marchisio tackle. Hard not to think its a red from that angle, IMO.
Agreed.I am going to guess that Suarez is not disciplined during the WC, if at all.

I think you need to be a lot more sure the move was intentional before you blow up a game of this importance.
I think the article is a bit hyperbolic. While studs-up over the ball tackles are good ways to break a leg, I don't think that's the best analogue for what we're seeing. What we're seeing is a player kicking out at another player in frustration (or having a stomp), IMO. And that's generally a red when Beckham or Rooney or whoever does it.What am I missing here? Looks like his studs graze the dude's knee a bit, but how is that a "tried-and-trued" way of breaking a person's leg?Good GIF here shows the ref's view of the Marchisio tackle. So good. It's kinda like when Dave Chappelle was asked to testify against Michael Jackson:
"He scored 31 goals last season, man. 31 goals."
Not sure what you're missing, and not sure what a tried and true way of breaking a person's leg has to do with calling this a red. What am I missing here? I'm sure you're trolling on this, but I'll bite [suarez]I think you need to be a lot more sure the move was intentional before you blow up a game of this importance.
I keep going back and forth about this... picture in picture isn't working for me.Greece is the game to watch by the way. It be would just for the Elephants to go through but I have this weird feeling that Ug-ball is gonna find a way.

This is different than sliding into someone with studs up. I think he was ejected for unsportsmanship, not dangerous play, as the play itself was relatively harmless.I'm sure you're trolling on this, but I'll bite [suarez]I think you need to be a lot more sure the move was intentional before you blow up a game of this importance.

I think I'll opt for Colombia Japan- still a lot for Japan to play for and the game should be more entertaining style-wise.
Rebump because of the 8 pages ofBumpity for todayOkay time for more scenarios.
Group C: Greece's ugliness might be rewarded yet - that 0-0 result wasn't the worst thing for them. Though it naturally was better for Colombia and Cote D'Ivoire. Japan's inability to capitalize on the man-advantage has them just about cooked. Anyway.
Colombia: Has clinched a spot in the knock out round.
Will finish first with:
1) a win or tie vs Japan
or 2) a loss and a loss or tie by Cote D'Ivoire
or 3) a loss and a win by Cote D'Ivoire where the combined margin of the games is 3 or less.
or 4) a loss and a win by Cote D'Ivoire where the combined margin of games is exactly 4 and Cote D'Ivoire fails to outscore Colombia by 3 or more.
Cote D'Ivoire:
Will finish first with:
1) a win and a loss by Colombia where the combined marging of the games is 5 or more.
or 2) a win and a loss by Colombia where the combined margin of the games is exactly 4 and Cote D'Ivoire outscores Colombia by 3 or more.
Will clinch a spot in the knock out round with:
1) a win

or 3) a tie and a Japan win by exactly 1 and Japan fails to outscore Cote D'Ivoire by 3 or more.
Cote D'Ivoire is out with a loss.
Greece
Will clinch a spot in the knock out round with:
1) a win and a Japan loss or tie
or 2) a win and a Japan win and Greece's margin of victory is at least 3 goals more than Japan's margin of victory
or 3) a win and a Japan win and Greece's margin of victory is exactly 2 goals more than Japans' margin of victory and Greece outscores Japan by at least 2 goals
or 4) a win and a Japan win and Greece's margin of victory is exactly 2 goals more than Japan's margin of victory and Greece outscores Japan by exactly 1 goal and Greece wins the ensuing drawing of lots.
Greece is out with a loss or tie
Japan
Will clinch a spot in the knockout round with:

Hey- I don't mind. Noticed you posting something kinda goofy the other day so figured this was your schtick. This is different than sliding into someone with studs up. It's OK for people to have a different opinion. That doesn't mean they are trolling.
