****Official 2015 Chicago Bears Offseason Thread **** (1 Viewer)

Traded Ryan Groy (G) to the Pats for Matthew Wells (LB).

Name stuck out... at the time, I believe Mayock said Wells (Mississippi St) was the best core special teams player in the draft. Super fast kid

Hearing good things about Shea. Odd

White doesn't even look likely to play preseason. Another bad start for a first rounder.

White has finally been running in practice at least. I doubt he plays any preseason but it's sounding a little better that he may start the season.

He can be the best leader since Napoleon but all that really matters is if he can take on a lineman coming at him in anger, shed him, and stick a RB at full steam somewhere near the LOS. I dont know how we get any idea of that until we seem him in game action.

Jared Allen a notable starter in #Bears' first (unofficial) depth chart of season http://t.co/0DnmR77Msthttp://t.co/wzLq2aOrrt

I hope Allen can play a lot this year. My favorite type of football player. Does it the right way.
I'm more interested in the percentage of snaps that he gets. I know his age is a concern and he's determined to rebound from last season, but I have to think Fangio wants to ensure he's not worn down by the season and snaps. Given that they appear to have a lot of linebacking options (none may be particularly great), there will be a lot of different looks with Young, Allen, Houston and McPhee from the edge.

I've been listening to 670 The Score all morning and I haven't heard anything too bad yet. The staff is making it sound like it's nothing to worry about. Brad Biggs was saying how he's seen players with a boot on for one day and then back in action the next. So as of now he's just day to day.

Bears | Alshon Jeffery has calf strain (Fri Aug 14, 12:18 AM) - Chicago Bears WR Alshon Jeffery (calf) is in a walking boot and on crutches after straining a calf muscle, and head coach John Fox said Thursday, Aug. 13, that Jeffery is day-to-day.

Our View: This most certainly does not sound like a day-to-day injury. While there's no reason to assume Week 1 is in danger for Jeffery yet, it's within the realm of possibilities, as is us having to draft Jeffery without seeing him test the injury during the preseason. Leg injuries can be nagging issues for receivers, so it's rational to move Jeffery down to the bottom of the tier you had him in until we get more positive news on this injury. The Bears have been vague about Kevin White's shin injury, so we may not get much clarity on Jeffery's condition before the season if he doesn't take the field or practice soon.

Jeffrey in a walking boot, strained calf.
Hope it's just precautionary because they're making seem like it is a whole lot worse then a strained calf.
Who's they?
Reports...wonder what Dr. Jene's take on it is?
Dr. Jene's take is min 10-14 days. My question would be, does a walking boot do any harm? Like say it's really day-to-day, but you'd rather it be wrapped in bubble wrap...

If that's the case, I'm absolutely fine with the walking boot and crutches but usually when I see that I think "oh ****" but if that is all it is then I guess I am not too worried about it.

And so it begins. Unlike last year my expectations aren't nearly as lofty as a strong playoff push. If this turns out to be Cutler's last year on Chicago's roster IMO the 2015 season will be a success. I haven't been this uninspired for a Bears season to start in over 40 years. Call me flapgreen.

Our first team D looks like they are stuck in molasses and couldn't get past their O-line, while our O-line always seems to resemble a sieve.

Keep expectations low, it's easier on the mind. I predicted 6-10 when the schedule came out and am now thinking that's optimistic.

Meredith kid looked good. McManis looked good. Perry was a surprise. Everybody else was meh.

I think Flap is pretty excited for a new era.

I lean toward your side. Mostly because of Cutler.

Definitely, but not expecting any better than 8-8 this year. They looked terrible last night.

Come on, first preseason game with a lot of new players and all new coaches doesn't mean a whole lot. Worse than 6-10 ain't happening

Agreed. Still doesn't make it any less frustrating to watch. At least our scrubs did some nice things. We'll see how it goes the next two weeks. Forgot to mention, Acho looked good also.

This is not going to be a good team this year. Finishing 8-8 would be a great year for this team. The D has a lot of work to do but it's going to be hard because they just don't have the talent there. The offense needs to carry this team and can since it has plenty of talent but for some reason it can't get out of it's own way.

Back at #Bears practice: ILB Shea McClellin just got the first pick off QB Jay Cutler this camp in team drills.

Maybe Shea is finally figuring it out. That would be great news. At least salvage another first round bust.

Cutler sucks so maybe the lack of picks in training camp just means our defense sucks even more than we thought

Nice start Pace
How is this Pace's fault?
Because he drafted him. Top 10 pick already missing his rookie season.
You can't fault them for that. I would have loved to get that guy the jaguars got and he's gone for the year with an ACL. Unless it's a chris Williams case where everyone else thought he had a bad back but we too him anyways, and oh, he did. Can't put fault on mgmt. for injuries.
