This could be an amazing pick. The guy is the perfect size, nimble feet, power. His only knocks are technique issues, but he hasnt played a ton. You can fix technique. Cant teach size. 6th round shot at a fixture at tackle? Hell yeah roll the dice.Interesting backstory to Fabuluje. Father was deported and mother in jail. Had to drop out of school for the 2013 season to support his family.

I've come around a little on Langford. Still not the right pick at the time, but a MSU friend of mine talked him up pretty good. Solid in pass protection, good catching the ball. 4.4 speed (although he doesn't show it).Yes, Langford pick was dumb. Apparently, they have zero faith in Carey
Reasonable draft, yes, but holes in the roster remain and the schedule aligns for a very rugged start. A 1-5 or 2-4 start doesn't figure to yield an end of season 8-8.I don't think it's unrealistic to expect 8-8. Better coaching staff and have added some good players.
It's too early to tell. But in order to get to 8-8, the Bears will have to win a few games where they are significant underdogs. (-6 or more)I don't think it's unrealistic to expect 8-8. Better coaching staff and have added some good players.
-6 is a huge spread in the NFL. I don't see them being that big of a dog in 75% of their games. It's too early to tell. You do when a team fails to address defensive needs. They may be able to score more points, but will be determined by Cutlers play.-6 is a huge spread in the NFL. Bears do play San Fran, Oak, SD, Tampa.... they should be favored or at worst -3 underdogs in those games. Also, Detroit is not as good this year having lost Suh and Fairley, and not doing anything to improve their secondary (Rasheen Mathis is getting really old) and we should at least split with Minny.OK, I looked a that schedule again, -6 is probably being too harsh.
But, 8 wins still seems impossible and will only happen if they win some games they have no business winning. The only ones I can think of last season, was the 49ers and the Falcons.
SD and TB are improving. (so is Oakland, but I'm not ready to say they could beat the Bears, and not at Soldier Field) Who knows what 49ers are going to be this year. Detroit may have taken a step back on Defense, but their offense will still score on the Bears.Bears do play San Fran, Oak, SD, Tampa.... they should be favored or at worst -3 underdogs in those games. The rebuild is going to take a couple years at least. They addressed multiple needs in tge draft and FA. I would've loved for them to have addressed the defense more but they're building for the long haul. I don't want them reaching at certain positions at the very beginning just because we're weak there. You do when a team fails to address defensive needs. Sure, but you need to take into account the changes on Defense. Our players were horrible while playing 4-3 last year. What makes you think any of the changes, especially last years players operating (event part time) a 3-4?The rebuild is going to take a couple years at least. Yeah and the Bears are not improving at all.....Gase; Fox; Fangio over the crap we had at coaching last year .... Ray McDonald; Rolle vs Conte; McPhee; Goldman; Grassu; healthy Jared Allen; healthy Slauson; Kevin White over a WR that was injured for 4 games last year (Marshall); Kyle Fuller in his 2nd year .... no improvements whatsoever!SD and TB are improving. Why do you assume we split with Minny? If there's one team we need to keep pace with,it's the Vikings. If Teddy progresses and ADP comes back, they could sweep us for the next few years.
This is the bottom line exactly. I dont think this was a perfect draft, but it was aggressive and clearly aiming for the long haul instead of plugging immediate holes with inferior talent on a team that cant win this year no matter what. I give it a B+ right now, but at worst it ends up a C and could well be an A+.The rebuild is going to take a couple years at least. They addressed multiple needs in tge draft and FA. I have to agree about the timeline. I think we learned a lot about Pace and his style. He is playing a long game right now. I think he seemed to get solid value with each pick. He didn't reach for players based on need. Overall I was pleased. Two things I didn't like. One was the the pick of Langford. Taking a back up RB in the fourth, when you have so many defensive needs, I thought didn't make a lot of sense. The other was not drafting someone to play alongside Long. Mills isn't the answer. In my mind that was the highest priority for the offense. That was more important than a WR, C, or RB. Now you have a big hole at that spot that has to be filled. Their intention may be for Fabuluje to fill that role, but I think he is far too green to be able to do that this year. I don't know if Long will play RG or RT. He will probably move to RT. A guard will be easier to find than a tackle. The rebuild is going to take a couple years at least. They addressed multiple needs in tge draft and FA. I have to agree. I don't think the D is going to be much improved over last year. Part of the problem is the switch to a 3-4, IMO. You are still loaded with guys who don't fit a 3-4 scheme all that well, Allen, Houston, Young, and Sutton. Sutton doesn't seem to have a position. You are asking Allen, Houston, and Young to play in space, something I don't think they are well suited to. One of them is probably going to be your OLB opposite McPhee. Goldman is a nice addition. I'm not sure if Ratliffe and Ferguson end up at NT or DE. They signed Jenkins and McDonald, who may possibly be your DEs. In the middle you have Bostic, Greene, Acho, And Foster. You hope that is adequate. You have to hope that Fuller improves after a horrendous second half of the season. You hope that Jennings plays better than he did last year. It appears that you may be improved at safety. That has been a weakness for so long. Maybe Rolle, Amos, and Vereen can change that.I don't think the defense is going to be good next season but they have replaced a lot of players on it already. It would be difficult to replace every player in one offseason. Likely 2 new safeties, 3 new lbs, 3 new DL. That's quite a bit of change in one season for one side of the ball.
2-14 would be a disaster. I would not be OK with that. I wouldn't even like 6-10. 6-10 next season would be even worse, especially considering the staff we now have. One of the guys I work with is a big Bears fan. We were talking about the schedule today and what we were expecting. The conversation evolved into the following question:
As a Bears fan, would you be OK with going 2-14 this season as long as the two wins were against the Packers, AND 6-10 next season with 2 wins against the Packers and splitting the series against the Vikings/Lions? (the other two wins would be prime time games, or games that the Bears were underdogs)
I said yes. We would have a top 2 draft position in 2016 and top 10 in 2017. We aren't winning a Super Bowl in two years, much less making any kind of a playoff run.
What is the difference between 8-8 and 2-10? Besides the six wins. Neither one will get you into the playoffs.2-14 would be a disaster. I would not be OK with that.
