****Official 2015 Chicago Bears Offseason Thread **** (1 Viewer)

Let's do it boys, 0~3!!!

I want that number one pick. Even if, as others have said, there doesn't appear to be a legit stud at quarterback in the 16 class.

Wish Forte could have played for a contender, he has always been special and it's a shame.

What's so maddening to me is that they actually show promise and capability for part of the game. It then gets my hopes up and of course the wheels eventually fall off. It's like they all of a sudden switched in Trestman and Tucker.

I did see Fuller actually make a play so there's that I guess.

WTF is the point of this? He made a bad play? What's his numbers this year?
The point is Marshall if off whining in interviews about recognition instead of focusing on his team and he causes two huge turnovers today. Thats who he is and Bears are well rid of him, even now.

Yup we're in great shape.

#Bears made it to midfield twice, ran a total of two plays in Seahawks territory.

The difference between Cutler and the rest of the qbs on the roster isn't even close. Sure we need to draft another qb. I'm fine with that. But Cutler is better than anyone else who was available this offseason.

Not true....ask RBM....he was so excited if we could ever get the great Jimmy Clausen to start instead of Cutler....he got his wish. We did have zero turnovers in that snoozefest! Jimmy Clausen to the HOF!

RBM doesn't think Clausen is good. I don't even think he believes he is better than Cutler. He's just ready to move on from Cutler, which I understand. We just differ on our view of how it should be done.

Were in terrible shape. You don't rebuild on a rotten foundation.

 Yeah I think Clausen is awesome. Way to interpret guy.

Um, didn't you praise all of the staff, the draft class, and were excited about the year?

Oh that was different...

Dumpster fire.

No answer at Q.B., forte great but running up in age and will be gone before the team is competitive. Salaries in the wrong places and not too many pieces for the future currently on their roster.

I would be interested in the perspective of an informed Bear's fan on a rebuild. What pieces currently on the Bears can be a centerpiece on a contending team in five years, if a rebuild goes well, or will even be on the roster in 3 years. This would give this non-Bears fan something to watch if I find myself viewing them again this year.

Hard to win games in this leauge when you are missing your starting QB and two top WR's.

Looking for the best seats I can get for the cheapest. If anyone knows of anyone that has some and wants to unload them- let me know. :D I got a good lead on some great seats that previously was told to me that I could get much lower than normal if the Bears went 0-3 but have not heard back yet.

On offense the best piece is definitely Long. He's probably the starting LT beginning next year and I think he should be good there.

As for defense this McPhee looks like a player. He should be a staple for the next few years. Goldman has potential at NT. Sutton is playing well but his real fit is in a 4-3. But he's been better than Ferguson so far. Think that's pretty much it.

Hopefully Kevin White works out

I'd forgotten about White.

Does the contract with Cutler make it easier to unload him this off season? Jeffrey and White could be a very good WR's pair and they are both young.

I doubt it... I think the contract for next year is 13 guaranteed + 4 salary. After that there are no more guarantees. I just don't see teams giving up anything significant to even take that on.

Why even roster Clausen if you have zero faith in him throwing ten plus yards?
Right? Da Bears should have paid Josh McKnown. I realize that McKnown would unlikely have signed because Cleveland offered him a chance to start, but backing up Cutler, he must have known you're guaranteed to start a few games a year.

I can't believe Da Bears haven't learned the importance of keeping a quality backup QB on the roster.

Da Bears can't get rid of Cutler until they draft his replacement. Alshon is a very good #2 but can't stay healthy. White has potential but is an unknown quantity.

Yep, fortunately, most of the high priced free agents, e.g. Allen won't be on the roster next year.

The Bears need to take the hard medicine, find a franchise QB and build through the draft, like the Pack.

Everyone is optimistic for the team at the beginning of the season. If Alshon and White weren't injured Da Bears might be 2-1 today. Regardless, I don't think any reasonable Bears fan would expect to be undefeated after starting the season facing the three best teams in the NFC. And I don't know any Bears fans who predicted more than 9 wins this season.

I believe that Cutler's guarantee is only $10 million next year. Teams might be willing to bite on that. But who actually has a worse QB situation than the Bears? Houston probably does, maybe Washington. There may not be many teams even interested if the Bears were willing to give him away.

If the Bears get the #1 pick next year they will most likely trade down if they can.
Not realistic
It is more realistic with the rookie salary cap. The issue is there has to be a player there that teams really want. I don't know if that will be the case. I don't follow college football enough to know. If there is someone there that a team covets, then they may be willing to give up some draft capital to move up.

No one I knew was optimistic at the beginning of the season. At the beginning of the season I expected the Bears to perhaps be 2-9 going in to December. That may have been optimistic. They may not be able to win two games by December. They have a chance against Oakland, but Oakland looks a lot better than last year. Oakland is favored on the road this week. That should tell you something.

Yeah, you are correct, the 13 and 4 were the cap hit/cap savings numbers if he were cut. My bad. Still, as you say, I don't think anyone will give us anything of significance for him. Also, if there isn't a "the guy" available when we pick, I think we are better off sticking with Cutler and building the team in other places and wait to put in a fresh QB until things are a little more stable.

Sundays 146 yards of offense were the second-fewest in Bears history in a game in which they had 0 turnovers.

(110 yards on 10/24/1976)

I thinks that's correct. He's definitely easier to cut after this season. Also, the Bears have a lot of big salaries coming off the books this year and probably only Alshon and Long to sign. Drafts have been so bad that there's really no one else on the team to spend money on. To reiterate, cutting Jennings was a terrible decision and already makes me question Fox or Pace's ability to make good decisions.

Having a backup qb they have zero faith in is another extremely questionable personnel decision.

No other team in the league would treat their backup qb with a full week to prepare with the starters the way Clausen was treated yesterday.

Why even roster Clausen if you have zero faith in him throwing ten plus yards?

Yeah all the Bears need would be another few million dollars guaranteed to a QB even worse than Cutler.

If theres a player other teams really want that bad, the Bears should take him. They lack star-power. A Rodgers or a Luck is beyond any trade value, sets up your franchise for a decade. If there's a 'cant-miss' guy there they have to take him, not trade for 2 pretty good guys, even with all their holes to fill.
