****Official 2015 Chicago Bears Offseason Thread **** (1 Viewer)

So embarrassed they will be playing on Monday Night Football this weekend. The NFL should rearrange the schedule so they don't play any other prime time games.
Thanksgiving night in GB should be fun.
GB will be able to rest their starters after the 1st quarter. I won't be watching the slaughter.
BS. We all will - so we can come in here and ##### about it. lol. Wow. You can't even say female dog anymore.

Wow it sure is depressing in here. Da Bears will steamroll the lowly Chargers on MNF. Chin up!
Seriously? Phillip Rivers might throw for 500 yards against the Bears secondary. If McManis gets on the field, it might be 700.

Just keep rolling McManis out there and leave Ball on the bench. Ball was probably our best CB through the first few weeks. Hard to understand these coaches sometimes

I prefer guys who do their job without complaining. Jay had taken more criticism than probably anyone in the league and you never hear a peep. Marshall turned on him mid-season, hammered him after getting traded, Cutler never said a word. I respect him for that. Not easy

Nice that they can still beat bad teams, even on the road. Can't believe it but Cutler/Gase is actually a very good combo.

And this seems like the first team in forever to hold Rivers under like a gazillion yards.

Good game.

FINALLY broke through. Finally have something to be excited about! No more hoping they lose to get a higher draft pick. Building something here. Homerun in Pace's first draft and undrafted fa signings.

This is what happens when you get rid of guys like Marshall and get guys who buy into a system. You get guys who fight for one another and play as a team. Not division all over.

Not that the Bears defense didn't have some plays, but I think Rivers being out of healthy targets is primarily responsible for him posting such pedestrian numbers.

Flapgreen you need to stop skipping your medication. If you're not on medication, you seriously need to get checked out. For real.

This team sucks and needs to be blown up so pardon me if I fail to get excited about a meaningless win in yet another wasted season. The sooner this team bottoms out the sooner the opportunity for a complete rebuild, which is sorely needed. I'm a die hard Bears fan yet am logical enough to realize that every win this season jeopardizes the chance that this team gets what it really needs.

Lol eh I like to have a little fun around here. I have to act completely sane in real life. They won. Have been in almost every game. That's exciting to me. Means they're doing something right for once. It's a different world than last year.

The Bears are just going to have to deal with whatever draft pick they get. Losing and getting high draft picks only helps so much. Look at Detroit, Cleveland, Jacksonville, etc... Those teams have tons of the highest draft picks and largely blow year in and year out. They may get an impact player sometimes, but it never "turns the team around". Teams get turned around by good management that makes good picks when their time comes and good teams that coach what they have up to win games.

Would I still like to see a high draft pick for this team, yes, but I watch on Sunday (or Monday) to cheer the Bears to win.

I think this team was pretty much blown up and is beginning a rebbuild. Our draft from last year is starting to look like it could be a good start to a young team. Goldman, Langford and Amos look like they are NFL players, Grassau is a little early to tell I still think he's only the small side, but after that first mess of a series he played pretty well, and we can hope White has the potential he was drafted for. We won't know for sure for a few years, but that looks to be a decent start.

Its was a good night against a bad defense, but thats ok. I think the biggest takeaway here was the Langford might be a legitimate NFL player. Not a star, but a guy who can contribute. Thats important because the Forte question next season touches a lot of the Bears plans. If they feel like they have to hold on to him and pay him or franchise and pay him, thats a lot of cap space you typically dont want to spend at that position in this day and age. If Langford just didn't look like he belonged, the Bears would either have to think about re-upping Forte at a premium or burning a high pick on a RB, which isn't ideal.

I think Langford ought to finish out the season seeing a fair amount of split work with Forte. If he ends up looking as serviceable as he has so far, you can let Forte go get paid by a team stupid enough to pay big money for a RB, and spend those resources where you get more bang for you buck.

Looks like I'm in the minority but I think you have to figure out a way to keep Forte. With all of the free space they'll have, they should be able to sign Alshon, Long and Forte. All key parts to building the team. I know Forte is older but you can't just go letting go of all of the vets who are still playing well

Let him walk.....he's going to want to be paid.

Makes no sense to keep an aging RB with tons of miles on him.

I get the idea of keeping him.....but this team is still a couple years away from competing.

Oh please the team has been blown up. So they will pick 6th instead of 3rd. Same chance to blow it. Enjoy a win when you can get one.

The problem with keeping Forte is that for the price he is supposed to be looking for, you could probably get 2 legit starters on defense. Not stars, but professional football players.

They're already competing in every game. Right or wrong, I think they'll figure out a way to keep him.
Compteting for what?

25th in points scored, 27th in points against is not competing.

This is not a good football team...........couple years away, at the very least.

They are not a good team- but Flap has an important point. Winning is a habit and good football teams have winning habits. I dont think it builds a winning culture to intentionally tank games, or not to take losing seriously. That being said, its a real balancing act because the Bears absolutely need to evaluate the guys that are on the roster now, so if that means sitting down veterans more often than you would like to see the younger guys under live fire, I think you have to find ways to do that.

For the record I think Fox and co have done a really good job of walking that line so far. The actual wins and losses are much less important than seeing that these guys are invested and working their tails off to win. They are buying into Fox and the systems. It sucks theyre almost certain to lose Gase in the offseason, but at least some confidence is being instilled that they can succeed.

Competing in every damn game! There's more to it than stats. You can't just toss out a few numbers and say that's that. Last 5 games decided by 12 points. Won 3 of them. Team is steadily improving. Cutler has 5 INTs in 7 games. 2 were miscommunication with Alshon, which could both easily be on him. 1 was a great play by Clay Mathews. 1 was a bad throw in the Arizona game to Bennett but not a dumb decision, just terrible throw behind the receiver. Last one was against Raiders by Woodson, which was a bad decision. That's through 7 games with Cutler! No Cutler meltdowns. No one ever thought that was possible. We've been waiting years for the guy to succeed, and now that he's doing well, everyone is still #####ing about it. I don't get it.Like it or not, the team is improving. Try to enjoy it just a little. No one is saying they're playoff contenders, but after the last few years, this is a great thing. The team has been pretty much an embarrassment for years. Things are finally looking up for once.
