I may be wrong about the final score, but it looks, like,I predicted the win. A nice win to start the season for the bears.

As I was sayingThere is a marked improvement over last year before Aldon Smith. And the Bears were on a downward slope before going through another transition. The offense was likely to be about average before having White out and a non-100% Jeffrey. The D is going to struggle with below average talent and players out of their ideal positions still transitioning from the 4-3 to 3-4.Like I said, I saw the teams about even but Aldon Smith is a impact player. Three games into the season he should be hitting his stride and along with Mack that is a powerful duo with two guys that disrupt the offense on nearly every snap. I think the key to beating the Raiders D this year is going to be having great talent at the WR position and right now that is exactly the opposite of the Bears. Even if Jeffrey manages to get 100% he is only one guy with a #2 who is best as a #3 or #4 and a dearth of talent after. I really like the matchup for the Raiders.
I follow the Raiders closely because they are my team. I follow the Bears more than other teams because I live in this area. It is just my view on the matchup. I could be wrong

I will give the Bears credit. Maybe Fox is a much better coach than I ever thought or maybe there are some players there that are better than I thought or maybe they outplayed themselves or maybe the Packers just underplayed... I don't know, but I did not expect the Bears to be in the game like that.flapgreen said:

Yeah, just dont have the horses right now. Ratliff will help when he gets back and Goldman didnt look bad and should improve. Once you get that inside pressure it makes everybody elses job a lot easier getting to the QB.
Was Houston even in the game? I dont remember seeing him at all.
If it's nice out, Bridgehouse Tavern is on the river and a nice place to relax for a drink.
For the games...Public House on Kinzie/State will be good and not a bad hike, good food but I believe slightly higher prices than most places. Venturing further into River North would be Theory on Hubbard/State or Timothy O'Tooles in Streeterville on Fairbanks/Ontario I think...but never eaten there. Lizzie McNeils is an Irish place across the river Saintfool was referring to, but I've never eaten there or gone there for a game. Most the places you'll be wanting to go will be north, south/west there won't be much until you get into south or west loop. West loop would be my suggestion if you were willing to cab it, some solid places there (West End, Third Rail, Vincenzo's)

I can see this being Cutler's breakout game of the year with multiple INT's and possibly a strip/sack/fumble thrown in for good measure.

I'll take that, we won't be winning anyways this year, and I've been worried about this alshon contract. I think he has wanted big money, and he may have even more pressure to get it because I think he already sold some of it to one of those player stock companies.I'd like to sign him long term, but he is no TY Hilton, AJ Green, or any of those guys.

Good suggestions. I work about a two blocks away from where your staying. I think Public House is a good spot with great beers and good food. Bridgehouse has great views but not a place to watch the game (which is what I think Chaka was saying). My buddy John Wrenn owns Lizzie McNeils and I've been there more times then I can count. You won't find a big NFL crowd, but it's a good Irish pub. Timmy OT is a popular place with tourists, and out of town NFL fans tend to go there (food's ok). I agree with West loop. That's probably the best collection of newer restaurants in the City.

Somebody needs to thank whoever was coach or GM at the time for drafting Forte out of Tulane, it's scarey to imagine how the Bears would have looked without him these last few years.

Has anyone seen the impact of Gase in terms of how the offense looks or how it is directed? What's different, what changes have been made?

Completely different. Establish the run. Attack weaknesses of the D. Keep Cutler mostly under control. This week will be very telling with where the offense really is. The current offense being run should help keep us in most games, unlike in the past

Forte didn't play after Week 12 of 2011. The Bears averaged 13 points and lost every remaining game except the last, defeating the 3-12 Vikings to worsen their own draft position to where they'd later choose Shea McClellin.

Lost to 2 of the best teams in the league, about to play another next week. Cutler went out before the half in this one. They're not very good but not 2-14 either.

I think an argument could be made that the Bears are the worst team in the league. One of the games that we thought the Bears might win was the Raiders. The Raiders beat a good Baltimore team. Another couple of games we thought they might win were the Niners and the Redskins. The Niners played very well last week, and the Skins beat the Rams today. The Jaguars beat a good Miami team. The Giants were in position to win both their games, as were the Eagles. The Bears were in the Packers game at the half, but the score did not reflect how bad they got beat. The Cardinals pounded the Bears. Houston is 0-2, but they will get Arian Foster back, and they have JJ Watt and Clowney on defense. The Bears have no playmakers on defense.
Some of this is a complete lack of talent. Jeffrey and Forte are talented players. Long has potential. But there are no playmakers on defense. I think two things really bother me, and I blame on Fox and Pace. First, they should have stuck with a 4-3 for this year. They have players that aren't all that talented but better suited to a 4-3 playing out of position in a 3-4. The Bears have not gotten any pressure on QBs at all so far. That is part of why. The other thing is that Long is your best offensive lineman. He should have been playing tackle all through the preseason to adjust. Instead they switch him over the week before the season starts. These things just make a bad situation worse. But this may lead to the Bears having one of the top picks in the draft, if not the first pick. So they may be able to get a new QB. But I think this season is going to be even worse than we thought.

Can anyone think of any other QB's who have multiple examples of injuring themselves trying to tackle the dude they just threw the INT to? Please let this be the last year for Cutler as a Bear.
On a side note did anyone see the Bucs who defended against Atlanta's last gasp hail mary? Jennings and Conte. Not saying they are good, just found it interesting that they helped Lovie get his first W of the season.
