Yeah, but not too worried about that, likely just another Emory bad pick that may need to be purged if he can't get with it. Langford is the only one that could be the next starting back for us.

Outside of that, I think we need to make resigning Forte a priority even if Langford does start to look like he may be the guy. Two years largely guaranteed then maybe a non-guaranteed third. He's going to cost less per year then he does now, he's not going to all the sudden break down between this year and next most likely (if they don't run him into the ground that is), and with Rodgers and Langford as the other two backs, we'll probably be spending less then 10M/year on RBs.

A lot of cap space will be available after this season. Definitely re-sign Forte and Long. Depending on what Jeffery wants, may re-sign him. I'm not sure he even wants to be here, though. He needs to get his butt on the field if he wants a big contract.

I have a hard time saying that because a) I won't give players as hard of a time for missing games due to injury as you, and b) when he has played, he's not doing what he was supposed to be doing.He wasn't brought in to be a #1 WR. He's not one, he was supposed to be in the slot, catching balls underneath, and being that guy who can find an opening and make a critical 3rd down catch for you while White and Jeffery and pulling top coverage on the outside. Yeah, he may have gotten a little too much money, and all of it guaranteed, but I really think you'd be feeling different about him under the circumstances they expected. If Wilson keeps playing well and we can get Jeffery back after the bye, maybe we get a chance to see that.

Didn't even think of re-signing Long since we still have 1 year + the 5th option left on his contract. May not be a bad option, rather give our own good guys, few as there may be, some of that pile of money rather then overbuying on FA's.I also wouldn't mind extending Bennett. Blew two catches this week, but he's usually a beast and really the last couple games last year, he was one of the only guys that looked like he was coming out there busting his ### every week, along with Forte of course.

 
I think they'll re-sign Bennett or extend him but he just doesn't seem like he wants to be out there sometimes.

And yes, re-signing our own guys would be a step in the right direction, now that we actually have some good players to re-sign.

Antone Smith signed to take Jizz' spot. Good 3rd down, change of pace guy from when he was with the Falcons.

 
Ebron, Levy and a couple other Lions players are out. Lions playing terrible. This is a game we should win. Unfortunately, Bennett got injured in practice. If he's out along with Alshon and Royal, we will be even worse off.

I'm hoping the Lions have called it quits. I know that is generally a stupid theory, but I did hear an interesting discussion about how poorly team historically perform in the game after their season has been essentially doomed. Casserly talked about it on the RTFP. Something like the "Broken Dreams" theory. It is a quasi rivalry game so maybe they will be up to the task, but I hope not.

I am excited for Kyle Fuller. This is by far the most important game of his young career. If he gets tossed around by Calvin and/or Tate, his long term status in Chicago could be viewed as shaky at best.

Really hope McPhee continues to rage. What an amazing first signing by Pace.

Glad to see Grassu getting his shot. He did get overmatched a few times against KC, but the only way he'll improve is by facing live competition.

Did anyone else think LaRoy Reynolds looked like a rabid dog out there? I know the staff is enamored by Shea, but I'm excited to see Reynolds get his shot this week.

Cameron Meredith also stood out to me against KC. He is quite a competitor.

The youth movement is in effect for our Bears. Wins and losses only matter to an extent right now. As long as the team continues to play inspired, tough, well coached football, I will be very happy that we are on the right path.

Reynolds and Jones both looked good in limited action. We probably have the best DC in the league and one of the best OC

Only 2 defensive players have been on the roster more than 2 years: Shea and Ratliff. Starting 3 rookies. And the defense has still began to come together. Allowing 22 points a game against a very tough schedule if you take away ST and defensive TDs. Haven't even started to create turnovers yet, which will come. That should give fans some hope. They've got a good thing going. Just have to give it a little time.

Still who most people thought they were. A bunch of bad players playing for a loser franchise. I would say this will give us a higher draft pick but they always screw that up too. Losers. Hate that I fell for it and bought in. Sorry, guys. I'll go back to the old ways

Once again, not running the ball early at the goal line or playactioning, not going for a 2-pt conversion killed us early, not to mention Bobblehead's pick. Not using timeouts late. Just overall a dismal performance, regardless of how we "hung with them."

Game should never have gone to OT.

Oh well, keep that #1 pick dream alive, footshooters!

Thats Cub fan talk. New Gm, new coaches, new systems, ton of dead bad salary. The only thing surprising is the wins theyve got. This team is where its expected to be. Vince Lombardi couldnt take this team to the playoffs. But that has nothing to do with what the future holds.

 
Thia team makes me sick. freaking facing a must win FF game in 1 of my leagues and facing Stafford. You know the guy who was benched and has sucked hard all year. Well yeah he tosses up a 65 in my league because this Bears defense decides to play like a bunch of ####### today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On the bright side, Cutler is probably playing the most efficient football of his career and hasn't melted down any, even had to carry the team a few games. That may be the most important thing happening right now

But we KNEW they weren't good this year. This is not a surprise. Most of us had them pegged at 1 or 2 wins for the first 6 games of the season and that's exactly where they are. They aren't a good team right now, they lack talent. Even you have said that's why the made the drastic changes this year, to try and get on a right path.Yeah, that game blew. The defense got run over by a bad team and the offense didn't look that much better. Hopefully they can improve, but really, this team needs talent and we won't get any more of that until after the season.

 
10. On Calvin Johnson's 57-yd catch in OT: Kyle Fuller passed him off to HJQ, leaving him 1-on-1. Refs missed bad hold on Willie Young.

More proof that Fuller is an absolute bum

Whether you, me, or the Ghost of George Hallas are ok with it is not related to whether its possible to be much better with the circumstances inherited. Im not ok with the damned days getting shorter, but the earths orbit doesnt seem to give a crap.

I tend to be very critical of the Bears, but right now I am fairly optimistic. I expected the Bears to go in to December with two wins. They already have two wins. They won two games I thought they would lose, and in this one this week, they had a chance to win and they didn't get it done. Overall they have already exceeded my expectations, but they aren't a very good team. They will lose some games they have a chance to win.

I am pleased with what I have seen from Pace and the coaching staff. Fact is the cupboard was bare on this defense coming in to this year. Pace has signed some solid free agents. McPhee is probably the only Pro Bowl level talent on the defense. Yet the Bears D is ranked in the middle of the pack. That is much better than the last few years. Fangio has done a really good job getting the most out of this group of players. There isn't a great deal of talent here, but Fangio managed to make this group an average D. I think this is really good coaching. Gase has done a good job getting what he can out of this offense. Cutler is playing better, which I think is a direct result of Gase. And this is despite the WRs being dinged up, and probably a below average offensive line.

Pace did a good job signing McPhee, Acho, Jenkins and Rolle. All is not perfect. I think Royal was overpaid, and he has been a disappointment. But Pace seems to have made some reasonable free agent signings. Pace's first draft seems pretty solid. We haven't seen Kevin White yet, but Amos, Grasu, and Goldman look solid so far. If the Bears can get four starters out of this draft that is a huge improvement over what Emery did. But the thing we have to recognize is that it is going to take a couple of years to really stock this team with enough talent to compete at a playoff level. But if Pace can continue to draft well, and sign sensible, solid free agents, the talent level on this team should be greatly improved. And after seeing what this coaching staff has done with the talent they have now I am optimistic about where they are headed.

I think Cutler might have been better served if his arm was weaker. Guys like Brady, Brees, and even to some extent Manning didnt have Elway caliber arms, so they learned what they needed to do to succeed without them. Jay never has and doesnt seem to want to, he believes to his bones he can thread every needle, and hence we get the catastrophic interceptions. I think he would have worked harder on reading defenses and motivating guys to be where they were supposed to be if he didnt have the big arm to fall back on.

 
Seriously? WTF? No idea this would be coming. He was one of the only players on the defense to have a locked down starting spot. None of our defensive line has played great, but I didn't think he was cut bad where we are already kinda thin.

Wow, "escorted from the team's facility by team security after an "animated exchange" with with General Manager Ryan Pace".

Oof, wow. During the bye week! Did the Bears practice or meet today? Why was he talking with the GM? Where was his agent? Weeeeeeird.
