USC's not deep enough to go a whole game against Oregon. They weren't last year, and their depth got worse this year.

So is saying they chose those teams. Oregon had Oklahoma State and NM back out from this years schedule so they had to fill in the last second.

. No one is comparing them to West Virginia. They were pretty much handled by LSU last year so any assumption that they won't be this is year is premature at best. But they will deserve their chance to prove this year is different if they remain undefeated. The only other thing possibly standing in their way is an undefeated Notre Dame and none of us really expect that to happen.

So the USC team EVERYONE had walking thru the pác12 is now not a test... I said that they were artificially hyped before the season but the whole world said theyd roll vs everyone. So who can Oregon beat in the regular season to have played a real team during the regular season? Oregon cant win for losing.

I think if both win out it will be the most intriguing matchup by far.
Alabama has had a little trouble with smaller, quicker DLs.
But Alabama does not have trouble with one-dimensional offenses. See Florida circa 09-11 with Tebow, Demps, Rainey, etc. I haven't seen Oregon pass the ball as well as that UF team yet. You see flashes that it could be better though.

Really impressed with Oregon last night. Their defense is pretty legit. That backup QB for ASU was much better than their starter.

Oregon's defense has looked very good this year, but if they are going to play an SEC power house team, they need to be able to stop the run. I want to see how well they play against USC and Standford.Oregon's DE's were just standing up at the snap of the ball last night on every play because they knew ASU would throw or run some finess/sweep. Florida/Bama/LSU have power run games. they did better than expected in the trenches vs. Auburn in the NC.Oregon learned a lot from that game and Kelly is going to combat their disadvantage in the trenches with heavy rotations/depth if I had to guess.It will be an intriguing game, particularly if Oregon doesn't turn the ball over.Oregon's defense has looked very good this year, but if they are going to play an SEC power house team, they need to be able to stop the run. I'd say Hammer Bama, but I think if the Ducks run the table and keep blowing teams out like last night i think you might be able to do a little better then 5, maybe even a FG.The Auburn Oregon NC line moved around pickem all month leading up to that game.

I watched about two drives of Oregon on defense last night and it was enough to tell me that Bama would run it right down their throat. Their defense isn't even in the same galaxy as Bama, LSU, South Carolina or even Florida.
The question is how many points would they put up against Bama?
As a Bama fan I can tell you that I'd LOVE to see Oregon in the championship game because I don't think their defense would have a chance at keeping Bama under 30.
That being said they would beat LSU this year.

I know you are throwing chum in the water right now to piss off the Pac-12/Oregon backers, but how many chances have the Ducks had to play ranked SEC teams? I can think of 2 times in the last 10 years. No real shame in losing to LSU on a neutral field and I wouldn't call a 3 point loss to Auburn in the NC game an embarrassment either. I would, however, call the Ducks going into Knoxville and beating Tenn by 35 an embarrassment. Way to protect your home turf, SEC. They also destroyed Miss St. the two times they played them. In the last 15 years, Miss State is the ONLY SEC team man enough to travel up to Eugene. The rest of those teams just don't leave home very often. I don't think Georgia has played more than one game above the Mason Dixon line. That's pretty weak.Oregon also has wins over Michigan (twice), OU (though OU beat the Ducks twice), Texas, Wisconsin, and Oklahoma State. It will be an intriguing game, particularly if Oregon doesn't turn the ball over.

Interesting night watching high school football tonight. None other than John L. Smith sat a row behind me at the game scouting some local kids. I have to admire the guy's dedication...he has no chance of being the coach at Arkansas next year but he's still recruiting on our bye week.
Gump> I saw Tide commit Altee Tenpenny (RB, North Little Rock HS) show out tonight. First time I'd seen him in person outside of practice, and he looked terrific. He is slippery. He hit the bounced a run outside in the second half and accelerated past the secondary in a way I haven't seen by a HS player. He doesn't have the size of the Alabama backs of the past few years, so I'll be interested to see how he's used.
Or maybe JLS flipped him tonight in the post-game locker room.

Yep! They ALMOST held them to fewer points than Missouri which, as everyone knows, boasts a world class defense. (Ranked 60th in NCAA in PTS against)

Fun fact... Who wants to guess the total number of SEC wins by those 3 teams that Oregon is proud to have beaten up on? Hint... Those teams won 1.3 SEC games those years.... On average.But, congrats I guess?!'General Malaise said:

I didn't go to Oregon, so I don't tend to get offended when people disparage their program, despite the fact that most schools would gladly take 2 Rose Bowls and 1 NC Game in 3 years. I've watched the Ducks play since I moved here in '96 and bought season tickets in 2000 out of a love for college football and wanting to be away from my x-wife for 14 hours on Saturdays in the fall. So I've seen the team grow and I've seen what it can do. This is the best iteration of Oregon's program I've ever seen. Can it beat Bama? I doubt it, but I doubt any team can. I think Oregon could be LSU, OU, Florida and I think they will beat USC. If they don't, then the season will be a failure and there won't be a game vs. Bama or any SEC team since they'll probably go to the Rose Bowl, again. Ho hum. Defense seems pretty good to me. And they've put some damn fine defensive players into the NFL lately. Patrick Chung, Jarius Byrd, TJ Ward, Haloti Ngata...this isn't a patsy program of a defense anymore. Auburn was held in check in the NC Game. LSU had less than 100 yards passing and thrived off turnovers. Very good Ohio State and Wisconsin teams did not romp these defenses in Rose Bowls. Boise State beat Oregon and beat UP on the rest of the schools they played (Hi Georgia) and yet the defense kept them in the infamous "Punch" game. Anyhow, carry on dissing the Ducks. I'm mildly entertained and bored enough to respond from time to time.
