I'm not really interested in having such a thoughtful debate with you on this (considering I already said its stupid) but if you don't think it's about recruiting then you don't know anything about college football.
And yet OSU, Alabama, Oregon et al don't do it. Are you guys that desperate to recruit since they shut down Free Shoes University?

At least I'm not giving out fake championship rings to "recruit", sport.
I'm not doing that either guy.

I'm also not supporting a program that has the DC rape little boys and then the head coach covers it up all to protect your annual 8-5 record.

Feels like Penn State fan should have to can it on the talk for a while. Your program was disgraced and is phenomenally average and irrelevant on the national scene.

Fixed.

The DC is spending the rest of life in prison and the university has set aside $60 million for child sexual abuse victims in PA. Meanwhile, FSU is doing its part to singlehandedly keep defense lawyers in business.

Oh Paterno, the school president and countless other people weren't a part of that huh? Quite the bubble you're living in there.

Penn State should make a ring for its myopic fans who are so willing to forget what really happened, especially since the football team isn't going to have any reason to do so ever again.

This is the hardest offseason that I can remember as an Oregon fan.  Last year left such a crappy taste in my mouth with the TCU debacle and now all the pundits (maybe rightfully so) are down on Oregon this year.  I just saw that ESPN predicted Washington to win the Pac 12 north this year.  Washington!  Are you kidding me?  They were a sub 500 team again last year until they beat a WSU team without Falk and Southern Miss.  Bet the UNDER on 9 wins for Washington,  it is a lock.

Can't wait for the season to start!
I don't know about that.... ESPN is following Phil Steels lead on this one.  That Washington team was young last year and looked ok in the process.

Let me know when Curley, et al go finally go to trial as it's been 4 years and so far...nothing. :coffee:

Phil Savage talked some about his thoughts from the Manning QB camp:

Watson, Mayfield, OKorn, and Rosen looked the best nationally.

Kelly and Dobbs from the SEC.

Bateman from Alabama looks ok short, but bad over 25 yards.

Harris looks lazy.

Interesting,  where is that from?

Was with a buddy yesterday who went to USC.  He is way down on the program and thinks they get murdered by Bama early.  Thinks Helton is a waste of carbon and hiring Lynn Swann with no previous AD experience was head spinningly stupid.

As much as I would like to see USC being competitive against Bama I agree, I think they lose badly.  USC always gets pumped up early because of their name and the fact they have some elite talent.  Depth will continue to be an issue for them.

Really hope Oregon can rebound this year, as you know I am optimistic.

I still feel sorry for PSU fans - you guys didn't do anything but if you don't know how ridiculous comments like this sound then let me tell you that they do.  Honestly hearing that it's been 4 years and nothing has happened just makes me think that it's just more people with their heads in the sand than it makes me think they didn't know things.

I get that. Mostly I'm just :pokey: at Cappy.

I don't know why the former leadership at PSU haven't gone to trial. It seems weird. You'd think that with a Democrat in the governor's mansion there'd be more movement on this, but then you have to remember our AG has had her law license suspended. :lmao: (Google Kathleen Kane for the full story.) However, the NCAA did overstep its bounds by penalizing the team the way they did. Levy the fine, fine; I'm good with that. You can make the case that there's some failure institutionally for it.

Where I drew the line was penalizing the team. They gained no competitive advantage (in case anyone doubts it, check the tally of B1G championships or lack thereof and the usual 8-10 wins every year). The guys had nothing to do with it.

Jerry Sandusky is scum and he is serving his punishment for what he did. What JoePa did or didn't know I have no idea. Worse case scenario, he made a gigantic mistake that dozens of boys paid for. With anyone, I try to account for both the good AND the bad, since we're all human. Like anyone else, I don't always succeed; hence, I have biases one way or the other.

Going forward, I hope that PSU can make child sexual abuse prevention their cause (alongside the fund-raising efforts of THON). It will probably never redeem the university in the eyes of non-fans. On the field, the days of potential national championships are probably gone; the game has changed a lot since their last NC in 1986. If they beat OSU, win a B1G title and get a good bowl game, that's enough to satisfy me as a fan.

I hope that serious, non-shtick reply helps you.

Any other state championship rings issued recently that we should be aware of?  Did the U. of Delaware Blue Hens get another ring this year?

I put $50 on LSU to win at all at Caesars.  Thinking of adding more, but want to look for better odds later this summer.

You guys should make one when daddy leaves Alabama and you're allowed to return to relevance.

If you're going to commit a violation, make it this one:

- Summary: A trophy was temporarily placed in an area where prospects taking an official visit would be, which resulted in an impermissible recruiting decoration of that area.

Corrective Action Taken: Provided additional rules education for staff and declared prospects involved ineligible until reinstated by NCAA.

Clemson picked up composite 5 star WR Tee Higgins.

Clemson has plucked 3 of the top 7 recruits in Tennesee, including 4 star WR Amari Rodgers (son of UT QB Tee Martin) and Tee Higgins who was named after UT QB Tee Martin.

Remember when that state had a big time college football program?

So Saban just suggested the police in Louisiana arrested Cam and Hootie because they were Alabama players and not because they had drugs and a stolen gun.  Guess he really wants Cam in for the USC game.

ACC Network will launch by August 2019 & ACC extends conference grant of rights thru 2036, sources told @ESPN

ACCs new grant of rights means if Notre Dame joins football conference before 2036, it has to be ACC

I don't care so much about the network other than the money. The ND piece makes me happy.
