Lotta runway left in the season, UH. McCaffrey beaks Sanders' record, he will put himself in position.
and.....broken! Albeit he played in more games, but the record is broken and done so in electrifying fashion. I know Derrick Henry is going to capture a lot of votes but to me, he's just another Trent Richardson clone who benefits from playing with one of the best offensive lines in the country. He's terrific, but he's not special. McCaffrey does everything for Stanford and IMO, should win the Heisman. Hell, he threw a TD pass last night. Impressive.
Alabama's OL has been a sore spot all season. 50% more tackles for loss given up this season compared to OLs blocking in years past. 80 something this year vs 60 something in those years (actual stats not in front of me right now).

McCaffrey is impressive, but Henry should still win it.

Henry is 3rd. Watson and McCaffrey the top two.

He has more rushing yards than anyone in the history of High School Football and in a season from the conference that produced Hershel, Bo, and Emmitt...he's special.

The OL actually didn't play up to expectations most of the season, which I'm sure will be missed by most. Henry really carried us at several clutch moments of the year.

here it comes

ESPN had the final rankings on their website and now they are gone? WTF? lol

1. Clemson

2. Alabama

3. Mich. ST.

4. Oklahoma

was the rankings.

So awesome, very unexpected makes it that much better. Plus I think they can beat anyone. :banned:
Not counting any chickens, but an OU v UA champ game would be fantastic.
Much more likely to be 2/3
I have faith in the CFP to make choices based on ideal match ups.
Which would be?
Bama v Mich St (Saban v his old school)

Clemson v Oklahoma (battle of QBs)

Alabama will have a Derrick Henry every year. There is nothing different about him, Eddie Lacy, Trent Richardson, etc. McCaffrey is a rare breed who does it all. Where would Stanford be without him? You take Derrick Henry out and I assure you Bama is still Bama.

Barry Sanders record stood for over 25 years. Been a hell of a lot of great players in that span, none of them toppled his record. That's significant. I think Henry is outstanding. But McCaffrey was otherworldly this season.

Not against Ole Miss

Whatever you think of the matchups, the national champion will have to beat 2 of the other 3 teams. Whomever wins this will have earned it.

Alabama -9.

MSU gets to do its favorite thing in the world - "DISRESPECT!"

Nobody loves perceived disrespect more than Sparty.

Herschel Walker's record stood for 34 years. Henry broke it with less carries.

Still wish it was Alabama-OU and Clemson-MSU but this will be fun too. So much better than what we've had. I can't imagine how great it will be when we get to 8 teams.

Henry never really passed the eye test for me but the numbers are hard to argue with. It's also worth noting that unlike every other one of those Bama RBs (Yeldon, Lacy, Ingram, Richardson) Henry has performed significantly better than the other RBs on the roster. All of those other guys, as the starter, had similar or worse (sometimes significantly worse) YPC than their backups. In several of those cases it was Kenyon Drake playing better as a backup, but he's been much worse than Henry this year.

Florida drops to 19. Alabama only SEC team in top 10. Oregon nowhere close to a NY6 game at #15 behind UNC, Northwestern, TCU and Michigan

Pretty sure Alabama-MSU will be the nightcap.
Not sure how they go about deciding that but last year it was 2/3 in the afternoon and 1/4 at night - that was in spite of the 2/3 game being on the west coast.Nevermind. Just looked - Orange is at 4pm and Cotton is at 8pm.

Here's how I think it will shake out now.

Orange: Clemson/MSU

Cotton: Bama/Oklahoma

Peach: FSU/Houston

Fiesta: OSU/Notre Dame

Rose: Iowa/Stanford

Sugar: Miss/Oklahoma St

No Oregon.

I could see UNC taking the Peach instead of FSU after playing Clemson tight, but I doubt it.
Cappy Other than getting Oklahoma & MSU reversed... :coffee:
