SEC coaches as a group have been turning rapidly for the worse lately...between the losses of Spurrier, Pinkel, Richt...performances of Gus, Sumlin...and the off the field issues of Freeze, Butch.  The Man can only keep the mean so high.

On that note...sounds like the All-Time Auburn great Tracy Rocker is leaving UGA to take the new Bama DL Coaching job.
So you could say that he's "huuuungry for the Crimson Tide"

:bag: I'll show myself out

Seems like this is now much more about attempting to market Michigan globally than trying to get a couple extra recruits. He's going to burn out his staff with just the camp a day in June, now add in flying all over the world.
Maybe, although there is fertile football ground in Samoa and Hawaii, so opening up avenues there would be smart - right now, the PAC-12/West Coast schools do very well in there areas.

Australia is interesting to me.  Some of you might be familiar with St. Mary's basketball and their coach Randy Bennett.  He took over that program in 2002 or so and it was a doormat; worst team in the D1 basketball for awhile.  He started holding camps in Australia and it was Australian players that helped turn their fortune around.  Patty Mills is just one of many talented Aussies that came through St. Mary's.  Wonder if there's any similar talent on the gridiron?  Would think some rugby players could suit up and play Football.  San Francisco had that punt returner last year for a bit before he fumbled everything away.

Michigan's punter last year (you may remember him from the end of the Michigan State game) was an Aussie. Pretty sure there have been a few Aussie punters around - if nothing else.

I'm sure a good part of the reason those schools do well with those kids is that they're bringing them to coastal areas with good to great climates that can be reached from Hawaii by plane in 5-6 hours. Bringing those same kids to Michigan and asking their families to spend a day getting to Detroit with a stop or two probably isn't as easy.

COREY SMITH ON DECK? Spring is in the air, and so are redemption stories. Wide receiver Corey Smith, the only former JUCO star on the roster other than new transfer OL Malcolm Pridgeon, has flashed talent during his time in Columbus, but never has strung it together consistently.

Smith graduated with a communications degree on Sunday, and the coaching staff is hopeful the sixth-year senior realizes his potential this fall. He's come along way.

From dispatch.com:

“[Urban Meyer] looked at me,” Zach Smith said of Meyer, “and said, ‘Do you remember what that looked like when he first walked in here?’ "

That instead of he. That’s how low Corey Smith’s standing was back then.

This time, “Corey had a grin from ear to ear," Zach Smith said. "He looked at (Meyer) and said, ‘You love me, Coach.’ When he said it, I flashed back to when he first got on campus and the transformation he has made. He’s far, far, far from a finished product, but he’s a different kid than he was three years ago.”

Also revealed in the article: Smith expects to be 100% healthy in a month... and he's a father of five children. He's set to marry his fiancée and mother of his four most recent children, Tasheema Thomas, next summer.
W.....T.......F............

When the '16 thread fires up, we have odds for Week 1 and some later.

OU a big (9) favorite at home OSU in Week 3.  LSU -3 v Alabama.

For those who bet at Tony's site....Ole Miss +9 at FSU week 1.  +3 at shops in the desert.

I am a little surprised to see Nebraska favored by 2 over Oregon.  I know Oregon crapped the bed against TCU in the Alamo bowl but they have a ton of athletes and more importantly a new defensive cordinator.

Nebraska guys, how do you like your team this year?  I am likely heading out to Lincoln for the game.  I have heard it is a great gameday experience.

That is surprising. Riley getting a bump for Duck knowledge?

So Cam Robinson and Hootie Jones got arrested on stolen gun and drug charges.  Anybody want to speculate on what this means for Cam's draft stock/playing time this year?

Ole Miss will probably get the death penalty before August.

Supposedly we'll know their response to the allegations come Friday.  I still think they will try and weasel out of actually responding.  And I also don't think the current NOA includes any of the Tunsil/Draft night stuff that went down.  The article from the Miami Herald accusing Tunsil of receiving Western Union payments from OM coaches back in High School seems to be a pretty big deal.

I think we're going to see what the modern day version of the death penalty is.

Safe to say he won't play Week 2 against W Kentucky. Does he miss the games on either side of it? I don't know.

Of course with the way Alabama recruits, they could sit a potential Top 10 pick and still have a viable replacement come in.

That's what I was thinking.

Sounds like it'l just be a weed charge...but I'd expect either no suspension or 2 games.  That's been consistent regardless of schedule.

Ridiculous that the board fires the president and keeps the football coach, but I guess you see that the almighty dollar trumps ethics and moral decisions every single time in the NCAA.
OH COME ON. You root for Ohio state for god's sake.

Yeah, Briles would be gone too if he weren't winning games and putting fannies in seats.  For an ultra religious university that frowns on dancing and drinking, they sure do have an odd way of showing their devotion to Christ.  Remember their basketball team's problems a few years back?  Coach there covered up a murder by one of his students.

"I really hate when a school is only focused on the almighty dollar and winning and not on morals and what's best for the students" -- fan of a team who hired Urban ####ing Meyer

Are you hammered right now?  Be honest...

Seems to me an FSU fan would not be one to go after another school about such things.
I'm not going after Baylor at all, you are. I'm not a hypocrite like you are. I know my school is dirty and hopefully cheats a lot.

Edit: hopefully a lil' extra cheating this year because we will have a good team and may need a nudge past Bama.
