**Official** 2015 Washington Redskins Thread YOU LIKE THAT! (1 Viewer)

Junkies interviewed Dexter this morning. They said they are going to replay it at 9:40. You might want to listen.

Why is local sports radio obsessed with Shanahan? He'll be on Grant and Danny today.

For a coach who was 24-40 during his tenure here, you would think he won multiple Super Bowls here according to the local media.

Awesome article. That D has attitude. Just need to atay disciplined and focused.
I unfollowed Chris Russell a while ago. Is he still defending Haz? I mean, I know there's more talent on this year's D, but for some reason I don't think he'd have this group playing this well.

You can get lost in the present trying to determine the future. What does Gruden have to do to keep his job? Is Kirk Cousins a long-term solution at quarterback? What’s the next Robert Griffin III subplot that has absolutely nothing to do with football? Possibility is always more exciting than rebuilding.

But at some point, this franchise is going to piece together a winner, block by block. Wouldn’t it be nice to observe the structure as it’s being built?

You’re starting to see some identifying marks. After Miami won a hard-fought game in the season opener, left tackle Branden Albert described playing against Washington’s huge defensive line — the self-proclaimed Capital Punishment — like this: “I feel like a Mack truck hit me.”
After only two games but I kind of like it!

Actually, I think they created their own name in the preseason.

I wish Gruden would have sent out an honorary captain last week wearing an LA Rams hat.
There was a tweet near the end of the game that was something like, "The Redskins trolled the Rams by putting none of their players from the 2012 trade on the field for today's win."

Jackson, Garcon, Reed, Morris, Jones... all draftable: for such an allegedly bad teams there seems to be a lot of FF potential.
I drafted Jones and Cousins as fliers in the last rounds of my redraft league. I think with Cousins at QB, the yards will be there. Not sure how much scoring they will do.

From what I saw last year and in the preseason, the passing offense goes through DeSean Jackson's position. Ryan Grant thrived there. And I think Rashad Ross was playing there. Jackson will be fine. I am not bullish on Garcon due to lack of receptions. I am not big on Morris due to Jones taking carries away and vulturing TDs.
A fantasy update: I cut Kirk Cousins. He only lasted two weeks on my team. I picked up Tyrod Taylor. The play calling won't let Cousins rack up lots of yards.

On the flip side: The Matt Jones pick is looking really good.

It's got to feel kinda good as skins fans knowing that our division is junk, and you have a shot......this division is wide F'n open!

There is a great script brewing for a Redskins outright victory tonight. See the FFA Wagering Thread for my complete write-up on tonight's game.

Mike Shanahan has a legitimate shot at going to the Pro Football HOF as a Coach, who was hired here under false pretenses and had the rug pulled out from under him during year 3. If Snyder hadn't broken his word to not interfere with football operations, Griffin would never have been drafted, Shanahan would likely still be here, (with his rock star of an Offensive Coordinator son, Kyle), and the Redskins are likely a lot better than 7-25 over the last 2 seasons, and a few years into building something designed for long-term success. Grant and Danny are on 106.7 FM, the counterpunch to Snyder-Owned propaganda machine 980 AM. If I were the programming director, I'd have Shanahan on as often as he wanted to, as well as anyone else who's no longer with the Team, but spent some time here under the Snyder regime, and I'd offer everything I had in my power to offer to tell the inside story about what was going on behind the scenes with Snyder during his tenure here.

Flowers is OUT, and they've had to do another reshuffle. 2 guys on the Giants O-line tonight that they'd rather have on the bench, one other playing out of position. Our D-Line should absolutely dominate the LOS, stuff the run and harrass Eli off his spots. Look for Vereen to have a big night, maybe Donnell, too...but ultimately in a losing effort. Morris/Jones 40+ carries between them if the script plays out...

Shanahan was past his prime in Denver and was further past his prime here. His defenses were bad and his special teams were terrible. It's wishful thinking to say that Griffin is the only reason he wasn't successful here, so I don't blame Shanahan for pushing that view like a crybaby. Other people aren't fooled though.

I hope tonight's game isn't like the 1st Giants game last year. There's a decent chance it will not be.

Go Skins.

I didn't expect the skins to win this game. I was rooting for them with no expectations. They started like crap so my hopes never got up.

They are who I thought they were. A poorly run organization with no quarterback.

Gruden: "It was a total team effort in the loss....no one played good enough to win."

Um, what about Keenan Robinson? He played great.

Why throw everyone under the bus like that?

Well, he did spare someone.

"No. No. Kirk was fine. We've got to play better around him. There is no quarterback controversy whatsoever."

Just 1 game. They win only ONE game and the same old Skins fans were talking best team in the division and playoffs. Now back to acting like they are the worst. They are going to be a 6 - 8 win team all year. Stop moving the win total up and down 4 or 5 games every single week.

You know how they have the "this many days until last accident" sign you see on the Simpsons. They should have a "this many days since we have change the culture and turned the corner" because listening to the media and fans they are put to 4 or 5 just this year.

The Redskins are like a huge parade float that slowly starts deflating. We're all at the parade, we're excited, we want to have fun and enjoy it. But we look up and see the beginning of the leak and we know what's coming.

Every fall we're at the parade. Every September or October the big float starts leaking. And by Thanksgiving it has flattened all of us again.

That was my first time watching the Skins this year and they looked like a dumpster fire. Complete mess. Should be an interesting game when the play the Eagles.

It's a very hard team to root for. Undisciplined and sloppy. I'm ok watching a loss if the team played well, but it is not enjoyable watching mistakes, penalties, and honestly, recent Redskins football.

Would have been in position to win if Cousins didn't underthrow Reed twice in the end zone. One was not his fault, though.

That and Jones fumbling the game away at the end.

Slightly off topic but if the Skins are in the market for a qb and so are a half dozen other bottom feeders who are the top prospects in this years draft? From my limited viewing nobody sticks out as a cant miss player. No way in hell would I take Cardele from OSU.

I thought Goldston looked good as well. The O-Line did a decent job too, they only let up one sack.

I'm so tired of them coming out so flat and lifeless after the half. After all the miscues and mistakes in the first half they were only down 9. I would have hoped they would have come out fired up and ready to go. Does Gruden not inspire them that much? Giving them a few cups of chamomile tea?

Maybe we can all go in together on an espresso machine for them.

I thought the loss was a real team effort.

I will start with Cousins. He was not sharp at all. He missed a lot of throws he had been making. Many of his completions were thrown behind the receiver, who made good catches. But those throws make yards after the catch very difficult.

The OL was outplayed by the Giants DL. There were no many holes to run through. When the Redskins went to passing on every down, the Giants pass rush increased dramatically. That is not a good position for the Redskins offense. On the bright side, Cousins did well moving around the pocket, avoiding pressure, and buying time. This is the type of situation the Griffin would have been sacked numerous times.

The Giants picked apart the Redskins defense. They bottled up the run pretty well. And they actually contained Beckham pretty well outside of the one TD catch.

Same ol' Skins, aka the Not Ready for Prime Time Players. 4 and 18 in their last 22 primetime match-ups.

Hope always springs eternal in the hearts of Redskin fans after a rare win, only to be tempered with a bitter dose of reality when the next game results in a loss. To paraphrase Denny Green, the Redskins are who we thought they were.

They struggled facing a desperate Giants team, and will face an equally desperate Eagles squad in ten days. If they lose to Philly they're staring 1-5 in the face with the Jets and Falcons next on the docket.

ESPN's probably working on the "30 for 30" episode right now on the 2012 Draft.

Most of us knew this wouldn't be a competitive year. I'm fine with letting the GM evaluate and get more of "his" guys here.

Bigger issues is the lack of discipline with all of the penalties and just how unprepared Gruden looks all the time. It'd be nice if they could just stick to and follow a multi-year plan but like Sheehan said the other day it doesn't seem like everyone at Redskins park has the same plan.

Did he really say Cousins was fine? Why does he feel so much more comfortable losing with Kirk?

This teams is closer to a 4 win team. 8 wins would be like winning the lottery.

I agree wholeheartedly on Gruden's unpreparedness. He doesn't seem to make the necessary adjustments to counter the other team's strategic changes. He just stands there looking like a guy with a bad case of acid indigestion.

The "Teflon GM/Team President" (Bruce Allen) deserves a lot of the blame for this situation. Spending 2nd round picks on David Amerson and Trent Murphy; brutal.

Because his job is on the line. Cousins over RGIII was his call, if Cousins doesn't play well he's done.

PHI, @ATL, @NYJ the next three weeks. Even if PHI doesn't show any signs of life this week, they will be a desperate, desperate team when they come into town. It's looking a lot like 1-5 when TB comes to town.

Gruden doesn't seem to be a guy that cares that his job is on the line. More like a guy that wants to prove he's the boss. And the reason he can act like that is because Allen gave him a 5 year contract. Worst case he gets fired and collects way more money than he's worth. Then he can go back to being a ####ty coordinator.

I had to work ,so missed the game. Looks like Gruden straight trolled us. 49 pass attempts to 19 run? Lol. You got us this time, Jay. We really bought it.

To be fair, a lot of those passes came in the 4th when they were down. The rest of the game was very pass heavy, but it wasn't quite as out of balance as that final ratio shows.

And I think it was in response to a question about making a QB change. He's trying to diffuse a controversy with that answer.
