**Official** 2015 Washington Redskins Thread YOU LIKE THAT! (1 Viewer)

This one is on the coach. And I've been a defender, but this team lacks discipline and Gruden overthinks the play calling.

Penalties: 11 for 88 yards is too many for this team to overcome. 4th most in league. And they also had 3 more declined. Teams that play the way the Redskins do cannot have that many mistakes.

Play calling:

First half Morris carries: 17

Second half Morris carries: 8

So when it mattered, your decision as a coach was to do less of what was working? I guess it's because he has has a great set of WRs? Um, nope. I guess it's because he has Aaron Rodgers playing QB? Um, nope. I guess it's because it's smart to have Chris Thompson come in on third down? Um, nope.

What the $%#$ is Gruden thinking? I suspect he's looking a chart telling him Morris should only get 20-25 carries per game. Or maybe that it's 1st and 20 and he can only throw the ball. Or that the other team is stacking the box. He needs to shelve that crap. The run is working. Pound it, pound it, pound it. And if you lose doing what you are best at, so be it. But don't lose trying to do what you are bad at. If I were Morris I'd be pissed. Shanny nor Gibbs would have ever, ever abandoned the run yesterday. And if the other team stacked the box they'd just bring in more blockers. Gruden crapped on himself.

To see how it is supposed to be done, look at how MIA went after Amerson 7 straight throws. Their coach sees the weakness and exploits it. Our coach sees their weakness all first half, and for whatever reason decides there are better ways to play the game.

Special teams: Forget the punt return for a second. Can someone go find a kicker that can get the kick off beyond the goal line? You've got awful coverage combined with a kicker that averages 67 yards? 25 NFL kickers can put it out of the end zone. Ours can barely reach the goal line. There's no way you need an 8th LB on the team more than you need to kick the ball out of the end zone to avoid needing coverage at all.

Gruden better get his act together, or he's not going to make it through November.

The players didn't look that bad to me. But the coaching did.
1. Penalties improved significantly. The box score will show 8 last week and 7 this week, but the penalties weren't in that many key situations, were for far less yards, and last week a bunch were turned down.

2. Play calling. They continued to run the ball in the second half even when the D stacked the box. Brought in extra TEs too. Almost the same number of rushes in the second half as the first half from what I could tell.

3. Kickoffs fixed. I think this was a hugely underlooked problem they had. Really helps the D when the other teams starts at the 20 yard line.

Good work all around.

Side note that I feel for Alfred Morris. He's a true Redskin and hasn't been paid anywhere close to his production in his rookie contract. Jones seems to be pushing him into the #2, albeit it will be RBBC so either could have big games. I hope they can work out a long term deal that works for both sides, and given what I've seen from McCloughan he will try to keep him. Jones and Morris pounding the ball down other teams throats for the next 3-5 years sounds really good to me.

Is Subway doing the promo for a free 6" sub when you buy a drink and chips the day after the Redskins score 20 or more points at home?

I could not find the coupon for it. I thought I heard a radio promo for it earlier in the season.

They didn't think it would ever happen, so now their trying to pretend they never offered it.

I remember papa johns did something after a home game win, free pizza?

I refuse to get my hopes up just yet.

If we win Thursday, I'll re-evaluate.
Seeing the team move in the right direction is what I'm enjoying seeing. Seeing the push the Defensive Line while only rushing 3 or 4 was really nice to see. Watching the QB position being played by a competent player was really nice to see.

The Papa John's promo is lame. You just add free toppings depending on how many TDs they score and it doubles with a win. So today you can get a large pizza with 6 toppings. Who gets 6 toppings on a pizza?

The deals for the Nats/Caps/O's are so much better. When they win and score the right amount of runs (5 or 7 depending on the team or 3 goals) it's 50% your entire order. No idea what the Redskins deal sucks so much in comparison.

Because if they only gave you free pizza when they won the promo would only be up 4 times during the season.

division champs right here
After watching all of the rest of the division play yesterday I really think 7 or 8 wins might do it, even if Philly turns it around they already have two losses. Cowboys in big trouble with the injuries, Giants looking pretty incompetent and already two losses as well.

Skins might not get it done but it seems far more attainable than it did two weeks ago.

At the very least, I think there's now an increased possibility for what we seem to always hope for: meaningful games in November and December. Yeah, it's a low bar, but we say almost every season that all we want is a reason to pay attention to something other than draft position late in the season.

I'm going to be selling my tickets for our game against the Cowboys as I can't make it.

They're lower level, home team side, 18 rows up, about the 5 yard line.

Do you think this week is the week to sell them? Or should I sit on them and hope we win some more? Seems like a lot of optimism in the air at the moment.

Apparently Alfred Morris is now the #5 all time rusher for the Redskins. Bonus if you can name the to 4.

ETA - He could potentially be #3 by the end of next season - depending on how things go with Matt Jones.

I'm not clicking on that.
i did. its a good one, you'll like it.
Nice. Thought it was going to be one of the many Giants primetime ### whooping we've taken. I'm still getting used to Tang being a quasi Skins fan....
I root for them as long as they aren't playing the Loins.

Without looking, I will go:
Riggins, Portis, Larry Brown, and Stephen Davis.

Nailed it.

I considered Byner over Davis, but settled on Davis. Ends up not really being close and Terry Allen actually just barely beats Byner for 6th.

Amerson released.
Nice to see them not afraid to move on.....if only they'd show a willingness to get away from RG the Turd.
What's the point of this?
He annoys me. I was a big fan, but a third string QB who constantly finds his way into the news bothers me.
Speaking of, did you all see the bleacher report about supposed tension between rg3 and cousins? It said something to the effect that its so bad they dont speak. Strikes me as odd, cause during the first two games rg3 seems to be cheerleading. The broadcasts show him about 5 times a game. I dont know how credible it is, but thought it worth mentioning. Rg3 responded by dismissing it by the way.

You're falling for this media BS. He's our third string quarterback. Don't waste your emotions on him.

I'll always be pulling for him because he gave us his carreer his rookie year. He shouldn't have been in that Seattle game. He put it on the line amd I'll never forget that.

Funny how a click-baiting gossip rag says there is tension and all the sudden RG3 is "finding himself in the news again".

Where there is smoke there is fire and he's been involved in this sort of thing too much on social media for my liking.

It's a tough business, ain't it?

RGIII's biggest mistake was being drafted by Washington. He should have pulled an Eli Manning. This team used him up and spit him out and now the fans are blaming him for it. It's crazy and sad.

If you think that you haven't been paying attention. Griffin isn't 100% responsible for his fall in Washington, he had a huge hand in making the bed he's sleeping in at the moment.

It's my opinion that had he been protected from a major injury in 2012, we are in a very different place today.

I doubt it. It doesn't seem like he's focused to learn to play the position the way you need to in today's NFL. Mike and Kyle had implemented a system that worked and had Griffin and his Dad stuck with it I think we'd be in a very different place.

I can't remember if it was Fatness or who that said Griffin will just be a footnote on Kyle's resume and that's spot on, it's unfortunate but it is what it is. I don't care who the QB is, I just want competent play from the position so McCloughan can evaluate the rest of the team.

I guess the difference between you and I is that I don't believe every negative story about Griffin on twitter. How many times was Griffin's work ethic praised when we were winning? I've seen nothing substantive to suggest that he's anything but a hard worker.

And yeah, that system they created could have continued to be effective had they not let his wheels get busted. Maybe he could have developed the other parts of his game in time. Anyway, it doesn't matter now. You believe what you want. It's always the players fault, right? How many QB's have we had since Snyder took over this team?

Ugh can't read anymore about RG3 this or RG3 that - feels like its junior high school BS. Just happy to not have a misery Monday / bad week after a L.

On to the NYG.....

If you want to pin it all on Snyder then feel free. The Griffin saga has plenty of blame to go around between Snyder, Shanny, Allen and Griffin, they all played a big factor and to give Griffin a pass is just silly.

A player that is as mentally and physically fragile as Griffin is doesn't have much of a shot in the NFL. It's unfortunate since so much was committed to him but he can't cut it.

I've always been a bigger fan of the team, not individual players, so keep on pulling for Griffin if you like, I'll keep rooting for The Skins.

WTF does that mean? Those aren't mutually exclusive things you know. Everyone in here is team first. I was just calling you out for taking a shot at one of our players. Our third string QB even. Let it go. No use in keeping up any negatively. The kid singlehandedly gave us the best season we've had in a very long time. Like they say in a break up: try to remember the good times. To keep the analogy going... We can still be friends with RG3 after the break up. No need to be bitter.

Looks like Giants are pretty beat up. No Cruz or Rodgers-Cromartie. Also, starting LT Ereck Flowers is listed as doubtful.

I liked seeing the running back screens this last week. They set them up nicely, but usually one person would miss a block preventing some big gains. Cooley said Reed missed a couple blocks on screens. I wonder if these will become a regular part of the offense or if it was something designed for the Rams defense. I've always been jealous of other teams' screens to the running backs.
