Man, after I first read this, I was like, "Ummm...what?" Then I saw your other post that you were watching the Wash-Buff Super Bowl.

Crushing last-second loss for the Giants. They really played well.

I'm not too torn up about it though.

Fatness you guys crushed them, curious how much would you say was Skins O and how much NO D?Will be an interesting stumble to the finish line in the East.

Redskins have faced weak defenses before and not put up 40 offensive points (7 points on defense). So, obviously the Redskins are not going to score 47 points every week -- and likely not again this season. That said, you have to take advantage of bad defenses before you can score against good ones, so give them props for executing and finishing off drives. It's significant progress over last year.But nice try trying to minimize their accomplishments.

I didn't see the game(score shocked me), Fatness usually gives a fair assessment. Don't get too excited though, NYG hung 52 on them and some how we scored 39.

I said just above here that the Redskins will be lucky to be a six win team here, so I don't think anyone is going to label me one of these unrealistic fans. That said, again, if you compare this Redskins team with the Redskins team last year, there is marked improvement. Last year we don't take advantage of a weak defense.

You are reading too much in to my statements. I am just saying the team is making progress.

It's not like the Eagles where you all started out thinking you would be in the Super Bowl and now find yourselves at 4-5. Everyone had us pegged as a 4 win team, bottom dwellers for life, with a turnover machine at QB. So basically, the performance is encouraging for us, because we weren't supposed to do anything like you all.

I think, realistically, the Eagles and Giants will probably be fighting it out for the title. The Redskins are improving but they are too inconsistent week to week and at this point they will be totally outclassed by a good team. I actually think the Giants are legitimately good this year; I would give them the edge probably. But, the Eagles actually have potential because I think their defense is a lot better than expected, and if they can just get their offense going, they'd be pretty good.

As for the Redskins, all I want is for the team to improve and look like they are actually a professional football team. Other than 2012, we haven't had that in DC for a long time. So if you see me being optimistic, it's probably because we have been so low, so long, it doesn't take much to show improvement...

I think the Giants are the class of the division this year also. They completely handled the Skins, and almost beat the Patriots who also completely handled the Skins. It looks like the Giants' pass rush has finally come around.

I just want 7 more competent games by the Skins this year, and it'll be the first real football season they've had in 3 years.

If the Giants could manage the clock at the end of the game, they are 7-3 right now (Cowboys, Patriots). The disappointing thing for Eagles fans is we absolutely crushed the Giants, so we know we have talent, but we play mediocre too much of the time.

Without a doubt. The next 3 games are huge for the Skins.

I think we all expect to lose to Carolina, but it would be nice to see a good game and not default back to what happened against the Jets.

The 2 division games are HUGE. At worst, we'll be 4-6 going against the 5-5 Giants. A win and we're 2-1 in the division and sitting at the top. A loss and we're 4-7 going against the suddenly healthy Cowboys.

I think if we're going to have any realistic shot at the playoffs, we have to go 2-1 over the next 3.

We'll really see what Cousins is made of when the pressure is on and it certainly will be these next 3 weeks.

That schedule actually looks tight to me. Lots of divisional games. I don't like how Car matches up with this Wash team. Running on them will be a struggle IMO. They have LBs/edge guys to contain Cam. Cousins protecting the ball is key to the game. DJax could toast us I'm afraid.

I think Brian Billick is pretty wrong on several counts. Neither the Giants or Cowboys games at home are "very winnable". The Giants usually overpower the Skins and have done it once already this year, and damn near beat the Patriots who put the Redskins out of the game in the 1st quarter. Romo will be back and beating his team is seldom easy. The Bears are scoring and winning lately; it's like nobody has noticed. Buffalo has a tough defense and (given what we've seen from the rush defense) could run all day on the Skins. Then come away games against the Cowboys and Eagles, and neither of those figure to be easy.

I do not see an easy game left on the schedule. No decimated defenses or helpless offenses.

edited to add: Right now the Panthers are a significantly better team than the Redskins. It would take an awful lot of things going just right to beat them, and I don't see that happening. I see a 7-10 point loss.

I didn't even notice that Hall played safety Sunday, but just read that's what he did. It's sounding like that may be a permanent switch for him, given their struggles at that position and that CB is somewhat of a strength when healthy (Culliver, Breeland, Blackmon, and Jarrett).

Having 5 decent CB's is not a liability in the NFL -- 2 injuries and the 5th guy is on the field for 60% of the plays. I'm hoping Hall playing S is more due to lack of good S personnel.

Chicago -- surging

I don't see one cupcake on that schedule and in fact see many games that will be very difficult to win. That's losing to Carolina and then just dropping ONE more game!

I think some guys move to safety late in their careers because they lose their speed to be able to play corner, but still have the secondary skills so they move them to safety. Therefore, I think we may see Hall move to safety in coming years. IT's a good point though about Hall not being a big hitter...so maybe this traditional logic doesn't apply to him as much...

Look at Charles Woodson. I have no issue with moving Hall to S. We need help back there, so it's not like Hall could be much worse.

From a National Media view it does look favorable for The Redskins. We've got 4 division games plus games against Chicago and Buffalo who might not be playing for much of anything at all. Those of us that follow the team however I think know that there are no easy winnable games left.

That being said the division is really shaping up in The Redskins favor:

Dallas has Romo coming back who will win just enough games to foul up their draft position

Philadelphia is a mess and Chip Kelly looks in way over his head. I'm interested to see what talent he'll ship out this off-season, he's made that team worse since he took over.

New York is good, especially within the division so they are always hard.

So can we now stop all the silly, Saint's based "Cousins extension, should get a huge contract" talk? Return to the norm. I know I'm in the large minority, but I was really looking forward to seeing what the skins had in RG3 this year. Now we'll likely never know.
