If true, I believe Pederson is their guy.Deamon said:Report: Eagles aren't planning any new head coach interviews
Yeah probably. Or maybe Coughlin took them by storm. Or maybe they just wanted to talk to Coughlin about McAdoo cause he's their guy. This is so confusing... go Patriots. If true, I believe Pederson is their guy.Deamon said:Report: Eagles aren't planning any new head coach interviews
Yeah, just saw La Canfora tweet this. Might be second interviews with candidates, but no one new planned.Deamon said:Report: Eagles aren't planning any new head coach interviews
Assuming not Shurmur either. Not sure why they would still bring the others in. Gonna be Pederson or a Giant.Yeah, just saw La Canfora tweet this. Might be second interviews with candidates, but no one new planned.Deamon said:Report: Eagles aren't planning any new head coach interviews
Staley
Shurmur
McAdoo
Coughlin
Pederson
I'm assuming Duce is not the guy.
and one of my biggest concerns with Pederson is that he just brings in a boring offense. I'm only basing that on what we have seen, but what i loved about Chip was that he tried something new and brought an exciting element to the gameplan. I get nervous seeing what pederson has overseen in the past, and with this KC offense the past few years, we are in for a lot of boring games. If it means wins that is cool i guess, but i like the excitement factor is possible
Winning is exciting. I don't care if we run the boring Chiefs offense to do it. Our D sure was exciting the last couple of years though.Over / Under on Coughlin's Social Security Number?Mighty Mice said:Read on BGN Eagles and Coughlin are close, but some contractual sticking points with Medicare Part D and Social Security offsets are holding things up. Howie has his work cut out for him.

I thought I read that Lurie has other meeting/ obligations this week. I'm thinking we pick back up after some teams are eliminated this weekendDeamon said:Report: Eagles aren't planning any new head coach interviews
yeah, owners meeting today in Houston to decide which teams move to LA.I thought I read that Lurie has other meeting/ obligations this week. I'm thinking we pick back up after some teams are eliminated this weekendDeamon said:Report: Eagles aren't planning any new head coach interviews
I don't know the exact formula now but I think a franchise tag is closer to the $22mil mark.Actually just found this story.Back to Bradford... Seems like franchising him is easily the best move.
A contract is going to be pushing 18+ mil a season, if franchising him is around 19 mil - getting him on a one year deal with whoever our new coach is to see how he fits seems like a no brainer.
He would save a lot on the cap. It will be based on how much he has left in the tank though. And I'm shocked no one had the Jason Peters comments on here after he doesn't make all-pro. He's going to be a problem.

The fact that Mularkey is considered by some to be the favorite with the Titans also makes you think they're looking for somebody, umm, affordable.I added this on the Chip thread. It may have been worse than we even know.
The fact that he hasn't even received an interview from Tennessee is so telling. I'm beginning to think he never coaches in the NFL again.
He got one from SF though. But I am actually surprised people aren't even kicking the tires on him. I'm sure owners chat more then we think, and I'm sure there's a few deal-breakers out there that Lurie has told his other owner buddies about what went down.I added this on the Chip thread. It may have been worse than we even know.

To not even have him in is whats telling IMO. He has only had the one interview too. I thought he'd at least have interviewed 3-4 times by nowThe fact that Mularkey is considered by some to be the favorite with the Titans also makes you think they're looking for somebody, umm, affordable.I added this on the Chip thread. On the surface it would seem like it's Peterson. Lurie loved/ loves Reid and surely values his opinion. Unless Peterson bombed on the interview it would look like his job. I like what I have read about McAdoo as well so I wouldn't be mad if they went with him. The more I think about Coughlin the more I don't like him. Previously I liked his clout and hard nature but Im worrying more and more that we will be done coaching within 3 years. That is a bigger issue and we're not that bad that we need him to "get us on track" before someone else takes over.I think the fact that they could hire McAdoo or Coughlin right now, and they haven't, indicates that the Eagles are waiting to hire Doug Pederson.
Like everyone else, this is just a guess.
i'm guessing Eagles brought Coughlin to discuss McAdoo. I am sure they discussed it so it wasn't a surprise and they maybe simply discussed football. I have to think if I am Lurie i would want to speak with some veteran guys around the league and kind of ask what the heck happened. Maybe even just get Coughlin's take on why Chip failed with the locker room and a sense of what Coughlin did differently when he had a similar disconnect with his players.Bigboy10182000 said:On the surface it would seem like it's Peterson. Right now I just don't want Duce, Coughlin or Shurmer as HC
And I guess after the Cincy debacle we canceled the Guenther interview?
Something crazy happened. I get more and more convinced of it everyday Chip doesn't get an interview.I also have to think Lurie wouldn't fire Chip the way he did unless he had an idea of who he would bring on. Unless something real crazy happened, but to think that he may put his team in a potentially worse spot with potential coaching candidates out there just seems like a terrible idea.
so i agree, he might be waiting for someone who is in the playoffs currently. I know all the media is pointing at Pederson, but i would like to see McDermott get an interview or something.
I heard it discussed in the radio that McDermott had some really strong parting words that Lurie hasn't forgiven. Don't know if it's true but....Something crazy happened. McDermott seems to just be out. Either he wants to much control or there's something they didn't like from when he was here.

I guess we'll find out soon. Schefter:Is there any chance that the Eagles could be floating rumors for candidates that other teams like, that they might not want to?
To try to get less competition for someone that they might want.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Eagles have focused their "attention squarely" on ex-Giants coach Tom Coughlin.
Ben McAdoo was thought to be Philly's top candidate, but the former coordinator was promoted to head coach in New York. Now the Eagles are focused on his former boss. Schefter reports "the two sides have intensified conversations" since McAdoo went off the market, suggesting a deal could come in the next couple days. Chiefs OC Doug Pederson is also believed to be a favorite, but Philadelphia might not want to wait for the Chiefs' playoff run to end. Coughlin reportedly believes he has 2-3 years left in him and is interested in winning right away.
So since McAdoo was the frontrunner the day before the Giants hired him, expect the Niners to hire Coughlin in the next day or so.ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Eagles have focused their "attention squarely" on ex-Giants coach Tom Coughlin.

yeah, Coughlin putting a good staff together is highly questionable, considering most of his staff remains in NY.The thing about Coughlin is that it entirely depends who his coordinators are.
Does he have any connection with Shurmer? For continuity sake that would make some sence. The thing about Coughlin is that it entirely depends who his coordinators are.
He's just the kind of salty old ##### to stick it to his former team LOLOne thing I heard this morning about Coughlin that I kind of agree with is he would be really motivated for an older guy. He gets pushed out of NY after winning 2 super bowls. He was left with a crap defense and a terrible oline this year and the GM kept his job. Revenge is a pretty good motivator for an older coach. Look at Arians.
Him leaving Spags behind is a good thing.yeah, Coughlin putting a good staff together is highly questionable, considering most of his staff remains in NY.The thing about Coughlin is that it entirely depends who his coordinators are.
