*Official 2016 Philadelphia Eagles* - The year of Change (1 Viewer)

Some intriguing mid-tier options at positions of need:

Guard - Jeff Allen, Alex Boone, Ramon Foster, Jahri Evans

WR - Rishard Matthews, Jermaine Kearse, Brian Quick, Rod Streater

Safety - Tyvon Branch, Husain Abdullah, David Bruton, Isa Abdul-Quddus

If the plan is for Maxwell and Rowe to be the starting corners, then who is the nickel? If Jacorey Shepherd is fully healed he probably gets first crack at it, but they can't rely on him. The free agent CB market looks like a potential bloodbath - I think several players will be grossly overpaid. Eagles' best move might be re-signing Nolan Carroll, whose late-season injury might keep him below the radar a bit.

Hearing more about Jeff Allen and Rishard Matthews coming.  I think we have room to get mario plus both of them plus maybe another OL.

The #Dolphins are in talks with the #Eagles on a trade for CB Byron Maxwell, source said. It's in the works,

per Ian Rapoport

The word is that Schwartz prefers fast CB's. He'd be a high priced system liability. They probably just want that contract gone so I wouldn't expect a big return.

I wouldn't expect much. Maybe a 5th or 6th at most but if Miami takes the contract then that is a win.

Mario Williams saying he will only sign now if he gets 10 million per season. Sounds like he's after the same deal Ware got which was 3/30 with 16-18 in guarantees

No thanks for that.

as per maxwell, I was warming up to him. I hope we can find someone to replace him if he does go. Yes he's overpayed, but not much for cb on the market and they'll all get big deals too. We'd be dangerously thin at cb.

Wait, Kiko AND Maxwell?  They are basically trying to take a big eraser to Kelly's personnel moves, it seems.  How much was Kiko due?  If we are giving up what amounts to be two starters (or at the very least a starter and a capable backup) I hope the draft picks are decent.  Maybe get back the 2nd we lost for Bradford to really net things out?

That was my reaction.  Maxwell AND Kiko - I'd hope for the 2nd round pick back at least.

kiko is only like a million or 2, right?  last year of his rookie deal, so whatever that is.

I love it when people call WIP or 97.5 talking about trades and they always get the "hey look, trades don't happen in the NFL...this isn't fantasy football."  I feel like the Eagles get involved in a fair number of them and we hear of others as well.

Now a report Murray and Matthews on the block. This is akin to a scorned girlfriend throwing her ex's clothes on the lawn  and changing the locks. Silly little Howie.

Why would you trade Matthews? Someone needs to run the ball and he's not making a ton of $$$.

*edit* Assuming Murray is traded (and I think he will be)/

No idea why you want to move Matthews as well. Murray doesn't surprise me, if someone is willing to take his salary. Maybe only one will be dealt? No idea. If he's completely tearing it down, what is the point of giving Bradford that money?

Dolphins fan invading Eagles territory...Dont know what to make of this.  I guess it will depend on the compensation.  My Brother in law is a huge Eagles fan and I know he despised Byron Maxwell all season.  Its a lot of money to pay a guy who was well below average last year.  Kiko has barely played in the past 2 seasons.  How do you guys feel about this?  I am excited because there is football news again...but with my team's history of offseason failures, this one has a bad feel about it already.

Personal opinion is I'm shocked that they found anyone to take on Maxwell's contract. I interpret this as the end of Kiko's deal on the cheap was the price of doing business here. Tanny, Suh and Maxwell are getting a sizeable chunk of the cap space, so I'm sure you could tell us if this was the right CB and if the cap hit seems worth it. I'm honestly just happy the Maxwell contract is off the rolls, draft picks are gravy. As stated above, general feeling is this reeks of Howie Roseman shedding all of Chip's moves as GM.

I agree with you.  Maxwell's contract is way out of whack with his value.  He was a major liability from what I can tell.  I saw Kiko in Buffalo a lot though, and he was great there.  I know he wasnt so good in Philly.

Rest assured, Miami does not win in trades.  This will end well for Howie.

97.5 reported a tweet (that I can't find) saying it's possible the Eagles moved up to 8 with the Miami trade.
I'll turn in my fan card if we traded away the 8th overall pick for any package that included Byron Maxwell and his ridiculous salary.  Cannot imagine that to be legit.  Although, as a longtime fan of this team nothing would truly shock me.

I would imagine they swap 13 and 8 if something like that happens.

This feels like when we made the trade for Sam and everyone thought we ended up with their 1st...I would be SHOCKED if we got their 1 or even swapped

We have like the 23rd ranked cap....we need to make room

Makes more sense, but honestly I would expect more than that to move down those 5 spots.  Taking Maxwell off your hands is a gift, not something Miami should compensate Philly for.  It really becomes Alonso with one year left on his deal and the 8 for the 13.  Bad deal for Miami IMO.  Really bad.  But par for the course.

If Tannenbaum is running the show in Miami I can believe it. He loves flashy "big names".

So they reportedly jump over Saints, Bears, Giants, Bucs. Is there a defensive player they covet? Because it's not like those teams are taking a QB.

Rap Sheet saying Murray to Houston for draft pick compensation.

Maxwell's agent, Alvin Keels, told ESPN's Josina Anderson his client was indeed headed to Miami. Fox 29 TV's Howard Eskin added the trade can't be officially completed until Wednesday but reported the Eagles received four draft picks.

4 draft picks...
Nice to kick away that terrible contract and get a few picks to boot. I'm expecting that they'll be 4th round or later, but you never know.
