***Official 2017 NCAA Hoops Tourney thread: Congrats UNC, all the refs from NCCG should be banned for life*** (1 Viewer)

Kansas was the most impressive this week.

Besides Sparty just always finding a way to advance every year, their conference is better than I thought.

Very impressive win today.
Bracket is breaking nicely for them, too.  Louisville losing today knocked out the 2-seed in their bracket.  Oregon's press is the type that recent KU teams have struggled with, but the Ducks missed Boucher today and will miss him even more at regionals.  Iowa State beat KU in Lawrence but lost to Purdue yesterday.  And the games are at the Kansas City Sprint Center, aka "Allen Fieldhouse East Annex".

UNC did the exact same thing against Duke in the ACC Tourney - went up pretty big and then let them right back in. They do that against a better team than Arkansas, they'd pull away...

I think Purdue matches up really well with KU.  Their bigs can put a lot of pressure on Lucas (who has a tendency to get in foul trouble in the games I have watched) and Kansas doesn't have a lot else in terms of size.

Nice second half from the Bruins.  When they make the extra pass, they are such a better team.  Ball is so much fun to watch.  Rematch with Kentucky next - should be fantastic.

Michigan is one of the hottest teams right now, I think Kansas would have wanted to play Louisville if it comes to that. Kansas looks good, but how can they be the most impressive this weekend? They beat a 16 and my Spartans, who were severely overrated.

Thought the South Region looked loaded from the draw...still holding true with UNC, Butler, UK, UCLA.  Don't know if my Wildcats can get through UCLA and Carolina...

They were the Vegas favorite to win the tourney.
And I had them going all the way in my bracket too.  But that was 4 days ago and their resume looks a lot weaker now than it did then.  Combine that with the notion that they were always vulnerable as a streaky team that relies on the 3 and it's really not surprising for them to lose to a decent team along the way.  They lost to teams a lot worse than South Carolina this year.

Put it this way, as someone that had them winning it all in my bracket, I went into this game with a fair amount of nervousness.

What are the odds now? Kansas has to be the favorite now?

If UNC is going to have any chance, Joel Berry needs to play 160 minutes. They're terrible when he isn't on the court.

I feel the same way Prince Myshkin, from the other side. Beating Kentucky twice in one season is a tough chore for anyone...

Swanigan will be a nightmare.  Usually Self has 3-4 guys 6'8"-6'9" and 230-240#, but that's not the case this year.  No one on the roster is suited to guard Swanigan - Lucas can't chase guys out to the high post and farther, Mykhailiuk is too skinny and slow, Jackson could do OK at the high post but will get destroyed in the low post.  I kinda wondered if Coleby getting so much run today was to wake him up and let him know he's gonna play more on Thursday.  Lucas will be OK against that Lurch-looking dude, but syncing his minutes with that guy will mess up the usual rotation.

IMO Mason and Graham will have plenty of openings against Purdue's guards.  But if Purdue can slow it down and execute their halfcourt offense like they did last night, it's gonna be a close finish.

Hard to believe Duke was a #2 seed.

I hear ya, just my opinion.  6.5 point spread is not small in CBB games at this juncture.  Combine that with Duke being Duke and USC having not won a tourney game since Nixon was in office, and I think it's the biggest upset by far.

They won both of their games by wide margins, which is more than the other 1s and 2s can say, especially Villanova, Louisville, and Duke.  Who was more impressive?

I thought UCLA played about as good as they could in beating UK earlier.  It will be hard for them to match that, but they have a ton of shooters and the best player in Ball.  Their bigs stepping out and shooting is really tough for UK to match up with.  Bam has to guard somebody, and the 4-spot is a weakness defensively for UK in every game.  Leaf and Walsh were the difference in Lexington and I'm not sure what we can do about it.

Well actually South Carolina hadn't won a tourney game since 2 days ago :P

Fair enough though.

The Bearcats did a great job in the first half getting physical with Leaf and contesting every shot inside. They didn't sustain that, though, but that is the key to handling him. Walsh is actually more of a problem for opponents- his height gives him a great advantage on that midrange shot.

I'd be shocked if we didn't see a PAC team in the Final Four, shocked if the Zags get there, and moderately surprised if Kansas doesn't win their region. Pretty open tournament at this point and there are at least 5-6 teams that wouldn't surprise to be the overall winner - Kansas, Zona, Oregon, UK, UCLA, or UNC.

Very good Round of 32, 8.5/10.

Hair Care Tips from top D-I coaches is a show I would watch.  Coach K gives his best Just For Men advice, Bill Self explains how to find a good toupee guy, Steve Alford on making the PDM work in 2017, John Calipari on how to get gel on just right so it doesn't interact with sweat....

For all of the abuse the SEC took, they have 3 teams in Sweet 16 and a 4th came close to knocking out last remaining ACC team
