Such a bittersweet win.
This is starting out to be one of my favorite football seasons ever. Penn State rolling, Eagles rolling, 3 of 5 of my fantasy teams rolling (one 1 of those 2 others still in the thick of things). Just an unbelievable year to this point!
And I was dead wrong. I liked Wentz as a prospect, but thought we gave up to much to go up and get him when we had a guy I still believe has talent. He was worth every thing we gave up and more as this kid is a budding superstar and easily my favorite current Eagle. Carson Wentz is the man.
Also ecstatic to see Agholar continuing to evolve into a pretty good WR. Not quote living up to his draft slot (yet), but no longer a bust. He's even flex or bye week startable in fantasy now.

Not that I wasn't already sobbing before being a Browns fan, but every time I hear or see the name Wentz the tears flow a little thicker. So glad they have Corey Coleman

I've said this little analogy many times to people in my life but don't know if I've ever mentioned it in here: it's a such a tribal and deep bond being an Eagles fan. I don't think there is another fan base that comes close to what it feels like to be this invested and passionate for a team (I get it with the Cubs but that's baseball not the life and death, brutal wintry feelings of football fandom). I'll assume most, if not all of us, were not alive when they won in '60. My dad was 12. I'm 48 currently. With Wentz, if the day comes, the Eagles fan will be the sport's fan equivalent of Andy Dufresne emerging from that mile long sewer tunnel to freedom.
All the pain and misery will have been worth it. I was present for the Phillies parade in '08 and the Pope's visit. Those two events combined would look like a town hall gathering if the Eagles one day win it all.

If there is some bit of encouraging news on OT Jason Peters, Eagles do not believe he tore his ACL, per source. MRI this morning to see.

Early talk is a sprained MCL but nothing definite yet. Holding out hope.

What was that quote from Lombardi about Pederson before the season? Less qualified to coach then anyone he's seen in 30 years? Pederson deserves as much credit so far as Wentz, putting in a stellar performance, and he clearly gets these guys ready to play every time.

Definitely a bittersweet win for us. This might be one of those rare cases where I would rather take the loss than to lose the guys we lost.
Best case scenario for Peters is an MCL strain but depending on the grade he could miss the rest of the regular season anyway.
The Hick injury hurts very, very, very bad. More than Peters IMO. We have no one behind him that is even in the same realm at the moment.
Has there been any word about Patrick Robinson? He went down with a non-contact knee injury and never returned but I can't find anything about his injury...maybe that's a good thing.
Enough with the bad. It is what it is at this point.
Wentz just keeps getting better and better and better each and every week. As long as he is standing, we have a chance in every game against anyone in the league right now. Wentz and Pederson are just locked in right now. It's beautiful to watch.
I know some said Smallwood is JAG, but man, there seems to be a LOT more energy when he's in the game. Him and Blount are a perfect 1-2 punch for this offense.
How great is it being able to run against a team, that knows you're going to run, and they cant stop it anyway?
I hate Gruden.....actually, I think I hate all announcers not name Romo....random I know, but true lol
Back to Wentz for a sec....
3rd downs versus Washington he was 4-5 for 36 yards and a TD (136.3 rating)...3 rushes for 40 yards which was good for 3 first downs. On the year he's 46-68 (67.6%) 678 yards 8 TD's and 1 pick
Red zone passing in 2017-- 20-31 with 12 TD's, no picks and no sacks
Oh, and does anyone remember when he sucked at throwing deep? That TD to Hollins was perfect. That ball actually traveled 63 yards, in the air, which is the longest over the past 2 seasons.
Speaking of Hollins, I'm scooping him in deeper fantasy leagues. The kid catches everything, looks good with the ball in his hands and has size and speed. Smith or Jeffery (or both) wont be back next season. He could kick in the door next year for very, very cheap now.
Our DL is just amazing too. So many guys making plays really helps the DB's out.
Anyone catch the 4th and 15 play where Cousins throws the ball out of bounds? Can't have a potential INT getting in the way of a contract negotiation.
I still don't know how he made that TD to Clement.....
Anyway, it was nice to see Wentz explode on national TV but Doug deserves major props too. He was on it with the hurry up and him and Carson were really in synch after we scored our first TD.
I also loved the National Anthem...I don't know if they shown it on TV but just the music was played but the entire crowd sung it. It was pretty cool. It was also awesome seeing Akers elected into the Eagles HOF and seeing Jon Dorenbos

Losing Hicks hurts, but we just need other guys to step up. He's a great player, but is hurt a LOT. Agreed on Hollins - need to get him more snaps on the outside to replace Torrey Smith - I think it's unlikely Torrey is back next year. May as well get the kid more reps.

I don't disagree about Hicks' injury history but he was a very underrated component to our defense. He was playing at an extremely high level.
We have time with Hollins. For the moment I like that him and Smith are interchangeable too.

With all the other accolades being thrown at players on the Eagles for the stuff they do off the field, for some reason, I just love the fact that Mack Hollins rode his bike to the game with a backpack on. There is something so humble about that, that being an NFL player has not changed who he is as a person.

I'd seriously look into investing in a possible back Up MLB next year who could start. I love the talent Hicks has but theres a huge reason he dropped from middle to high first round pick to 3rd rounder and that's availability issues and staying healthy. I know it might be too early but I'd seriously invest in a MLB who could potentially start if needed. He's a UFA after the 2018 season and depending on our cap space and how much he wants do we really want to invest huge amounts of money on granted a very talented but injury prone player? Look I love Hicks but the Eagles might need to do some very serious thinking on the future of the entire LB corps sooner rather then later.
As for Peters lets hope its an injury he can be back by playoffs. I'm seeing people suggest all these bad trades even dangling Torrey Smith who barely has any value. The guys on the market have huge cap hits and I think the team wants to save that cap space. I could just see Big V being inserted into the line up (At best he's been serviceable back up and seemed to play decent last night) and calling up Dillion Gordon from the PS.

Sources: The #Eagles did not get good news. LT Jason Peters tore his ACL and MCL, his MRI revealed. They had hoped just MCL.

If you were to come up with key leaders before the season Peters, Hicks, Sproles and Maragos would be the names most of us would have. This sucks.

Losing Hicks and Peters are very big blows. But I think this team can overcome them.
Just been a special ride that should continue Sunday versus the Niners. Losing Hicks and Peters blows though. Especially Peters, that may have been a career ender and what a career it has been.

I'm not and we all know it. Forgive my rant but this whole Player safety thing Goodell and the league has always frustrated me immensely. The whole NFL SAFETY protocol is nothing but a bunch of BS and players know it but fans are being sheep about it. Most of the Safety rules actually benefit more offensive scoring and catering to the fantasy football crowd. That's all most of these "NFL PLAYER SAFETY RULES" are. It's also done to the lawsuits on Concussions. The NFL is doing what protects their bottom line. This is no different then WWE and McMahon on safety protocol with no chair shots to the head and watering down certain moves they deem a safety hazard along with no blading. Meanwhile theres other promotions who still do them. If a wrestler uses their proper training they can take a headshot correctly. In WWE for yrs I saw guys who lacked the proper way of taking one. So they ruled out headshots and watered down many wrestlers. The Shooting Star press was actually illegal for yrs in WWE as WWE deemed it too dangerous. Then this wrestler high flyers Matt Sydal (AKA Evan Bourn in WWE) came along and they allowed it because he was using it for yrs. The NFL and WWE are no different. These Safety Rules are nothing more then PYA's. They care more about money then player/performer safety.
If you cared about player safety how come the NFL doesn't have the latest technology in helmet and pads? How come we are still allowing guys to play that don't wear their helmets properly or all their equipment (Last I checked still part of the Uniform or are we only butthurt when a player wears part of their uniform that has a sponsor you don't have on it?). If only fans were this passionate about Player safety as they are about letting Kapernick back in or protesting the league maybe something could get done. For now on when ever you hear Goodell or any of the NFL cronies talk about Player Safety that's code word for "We're making <

Sorry but after having talked to former and some current players on this issue now as well as my HS football coach who played at Tennessee with Conridge Halloway and a few NFL seasons before a knee injury took him out I really side with the players here. These rules are nothing more then to gain more offense and protect fantasy fans as well as Protect the league from lawsuits. In other words doing the bare minimum

The more protective that helmets become, the less fear that players have it launching themselves and using their head as a weapon. There were very few head injuries back in the days of leather helmets. It's kind of a double-edged sword. They keep trying to develop better equipment, but that makes players more Fearless when it comes to using their head.

Yep I met him out there. Was about 4 security guys with him and about 10 of us around him who got pictures with him. We even got the eagles song going and he was singing it with us at the top of his lungs. Really cool moment.
Ya that was insane. I'll have to rematch the game on TV but it seemed Ed was giving us a big "F U" for blaming refs.

From what I recall only the Jeffery one was touchy and the others were all legit. Obviously 12 men in the huddle is an easy one, Ertz definitely made a bad block and Johnson definitely held Kerrigan as well.
This hurts Elliott too. Kid was perfect since Peters told him not to miss another kick. Peters goes down and the streak ends. Sigh.

Okay, Duane Brown is reporting to the Texans this week. A lot of Texans fans wanted the team to trade him, but I don't know if the Texans were or are serious about doing that. If they are, and if Peters career is basically over, I think the Eagles should consider trading for him. He is 3 years younger than Peters and has a year and a half left on his contract which pays him $5.5 million this year and $9.4 million next year. The Eagles save $5.3 against next year's cap if they cut Peters next off season. I think the Eagles could trade for Brown, Give him a new deal that runs through 2019. give him a nice signing bonus, and guarantee next years salary. I think we could definitely work it cap wise. The sticking point would be what would the Texans want back for Brown. The Eagles have their first next year but don't have another pick until the 4th. I know the Eagles wouldn't want to give up a first, but the Texans don't have a first or a second next year, so they probably would demand it. Maybe we give the Texans our first, and they give us their 3rd and Brown?

I'd be shocked if anyone would give a 1st round pick for a 32 year old tackle. I wouldn't want any part of that.

I would usually agree with your thinking, but several factors make it more reasonable:
- The Eagles are in a position to win it all this year
- The Eagles first round pick would likely be late in the 1st round
- Your all pro 35 year old tackle is likely done for his career, and you would probably have a good substitute for at least 1.5 years if not 2.5 years.
- Brown has played at least 12 games in every season of his career
- I said the Eagles should try to get a 3rd round pick back from Houston in the deal. I would have said a second but Houston doesn't have a second.

Good game last night guys. You don't need me to validate you but imo you guys are for real--brutal injuries but you're a great team. I'm so jealous of Wentz that it hurts. And he's doing this with imo an underwhelming supporting cast. Ertz is a stud, Alshon is good, Agholor is growing...but offensive playmaker is a spot where you could do some serious shopping this off-season and that's scary, considering how Wentz is playing. Congrats

Well, Kendricks too but he's hurt as well. Sounds like he may have a chance to come back and play against San Fran but if he's out then yeah, the No. 1 Run D thing might go away pretty quickly.

I hope so too. I am just not that keen on having my 2nd most important position which protects my most important position handled by a 5th round draft pick in his second year. Especially in a year where the Eagles have a real chance at winning that ring that we all want them to have.

You could be right. But if it was someone as good as Duane Brown, I would think by the end of the season, going into the playoffs, he would be up to speed and be an improvement. In addtion he could give you a year or two after that until we find our next good tackle.
Look I am not a sky is falling type of person. But this is the Eagles we are talking about. The Fog Bowl, Bryce Paup, McNabb puking in the Super Bowl, these are all things that have happened to prevent an Eagles Championship. I think we gotta throw all we got at the football Gods, who for some reason want to heap misery on the fans of the Green and White.
