*Official 2020 Philadelphia Eagles Thread* Humanity will never recover from the most horrible event to happen in the last 100 years: Doug Pederson pla (1 Viewer)

The excuses for Hurts will somehow be justified though.
Staying off social media again tonight as I see the excuses already starting. I'll probably look at them later in the week when things calm down. However one comment that got to me last week is the guy who claimed he was a big Hurts fan and kept referring to the ACC title game he played in. Dude clearly had never watched Hurts in college and you could tell. It was just embarrassing but I got to praise the guy for his effort and consistency. I just hope he was trolling though.

For about 15 minutes after the DJax TD that put us up 14-3, and Carolina was up 13-0, they pulled me back in and I was ready to jump on the "Let's win this division and see what happens!" train. By halftime, I was back in "Let's see how high we can draft!" mode.
haha felt the same way.  Still wanted us to pull it off but was maybe 50.000001% cheering for us to win.

Story of the season

So someone tell me why we wouldn't play all third stringers next week to get the better draft pick and allow Washington to win?   See no upside on playing any starter that matters

This could be the game that keeps Carson in Philly. Hurts looks like Carson has over the course of the season. Leading to the narrative that it's the coach and the team.
The coaching on both sides was obviously awful.  What changes will be made?  I would tear it all down imo

It's another game of tape you can get on Hurts and if you play Hurts you can't surround him with dreck ( well worse dreck than normal)

Rules of NFL. If a team has playoff implications opponent wise and you don't you can't play back ups if it's still a rule. The league made this rule after Colts rested their starters in the 16-0 season vs I think the Jets who needed a win to get in. Jets would've lost had Indy kept their starters in

The Eagles have scored a total of 13 points over the last three second halves they’ve played (Saints, Cardinals, Cowboys).

4.33 points per half.

Hurts isn’t as good at reading a defense as Foles and Wentz and it showed up big today. After the first read it’s all panic. His arm is BAD too. On both picks the ball just hangs up there forever and he can’t seem to hold only to the ball when there’s contact.

I'm willing to give him a pass because he looked as bad as Wentz has this year. Bring them both back next year. Get a stud OT in the top of the draft and hope Howie drafts well at the top of each round. Lane hopefully healed. Kelce hopefully comes back. Dillard hopefully can be a decent backup to Mailata.

Doug is probably coming back but hopefully Schwartz is gone. We can't run this same defense again next year. Also need an Offensive coordinator.

Some random tweets:

DeSean Jackson led the Eagles in receiving yards. He caught one pass and was targeted one time

The Eagles ran 19 times for 108 yards in the first half. They ran 10 times for 43 yards in the second half.

Howie Roseman built the NFL’s second most expensive roster and the Eagles have a 4-10-1 record to show for it. He is reportedly not in any jeopardy of losing his job.

Thats awful.   Blame the coaches more than anyone

Can’t have a QB controversy off the jump next season for Doug if he’s back on a hot seat or a new HC.

Doesn’t matter which QB you want to run the show you can’t have the other back. If we do you’re locked into another 5-6 win season.

Definitely coaches first and foremost but defenses figured Hurts out pretty damn quick. We knew they couldn’t sustain the college style offense and when he’s asked to do something more complex he’s struggled and doesn’t have the arm to make up for it.

Carson got to sit back. Heal up. Watch the Eagles go 1-3 or 2-2 and has an off season where he didn't take any wear and tear for the final month. Wonder how he'll respond.

Doug at the podium now. Asked about why go on 4th and 15 but not the 4th and 8 earlier. Said he got mad about the delay of game and punted.
Love to say I’m shocked but he’s said the most off the wall #### and done the most off the wall things all year this just isn’t a shock anymore.

hmm, haven't listened yet, but did it sound like he was blaming Jalen there? funny, he never seemed to blame Carson for anything

That just made me sick reading that. Could've drafted Jonathan Abrams at Safety. Rock Ya Sin CB, Deebo Samuel WR, Jahlani Tavi at LB, AJ Brown the list keeps going

College gimmick offenses don't work in the NFL. We should've learned that having Chip Kelly here.

i would love to see the All-22 this week. Eagles looked normal in that 1st Q, and seemed fine. I don't think Dallas made any real adjustments on defense, so why did they look so bad the rest?

Also has Hurts thrown the ball in the middle of the field yet? I was off and on first half of this game at work and maybe I missed it but didn't see any over the middle

Yes we'll plenty of those to go around. It's about salvaging what we have at this point. Maybe Dillard takes the job from Mailata due to play. That would be a good thing to have a cheap quality backup.

Just really aggravates me because every pick that fails which is a lot right now we can go back and say yeah we missed on these guys instead. Its just so bad at this point

i worry about Dillard. Before he even got injured it sounded like he wasn't looking that good

JJ Arcega-Whiteside in 20 games:
- 11 catches, 206 yards, 1 TD

Travis Fulgham in 2 games:
- 12 catches, 209 yards, 2 TDs

This guy better be starting the rest of the season. He looked like a monster yesterday.

He better start over Alshon if/when he's healthy.

If history is any indication he will be instantly moved behind Jeffery and Jackson when they're ready to go
Fast forward to week 16

Of course they play each other's division. Do they count it twice for their division opponents?
I think it’s total win percentage of their opponents so the division would only count once. The Bengals were on a last place schedule so playing the Jets and Jags probably sealed it for them.

Lol, watching the post game show on youtube. This whole Hurts vs. Wentz things is going to divide this fanbase in 2.

Cracks me up, i am voting for the best QB. Was pulling for Hurts today after his last appearances,  but after today we may be due for a true QB competition. Still, considering the kid didn't have much of a pre-season and rarely got any snaps up until now so maybe he just needs to work on some things.

And who knows about Wentz. Will some time off and looking from the outside help, or are his issues this year more long-term

Strength of schedule.  It looks like the Bengals are ahead of the Eagles as of now.  Although I’m surprised by that given their respective divisions.
Ahead meaning we have played tougher opponents?  So Bengals get the higher pick?

Not that surprising, have you seen our non division opponents?  They've been absolutely brutal (as in they're all really good)

I think today showed Hurts has A LOT TO WORK ON. It just amazes me I'm already seeing the same people who said the excuses for Wentz weren't good and he just stinks they are using for Hurts today. What is it? Wentz Sucks or the Coaches are bad?

Yeah the kid had no  pre season props to what he has accomplished without it but we are seeing an NFL trend of back ups going first few weeks hot and then finally coming back down to earth. He's a rookie with things to work on for sure.

For everyone's sake we should hope Caron's issues are fixable and he can be the MVP he was in 2017. However today just proved you can't get rid of Wentz just yet. Gut just tells me we are gonna screw this up so bad and keep the wrong QB in the end or keep everyone and mess both up even more and no fix in sight
