*Official 2020 Philadelphia Eagles Thread* Humanity will never recover from the most horrible event to happen in the last 100 years: Doug Pederson pla (1 Viewer)

I like Sul over Jones. He seemed to be more productive when he was in there then Sid was. Some people love to harp on his INT at the end of the Giants game last year but Jones threw that thing right to him like he was the WR. He made a good play in the Dal game to end it but that was lucky he wasn't called for DPI either (Considering how the NFL calls it these days). Jones is inconsistent and has availability issues at best. I think him killing his achilles is a huge issue.
Agree, Rasul can’t handle speed but has done OK against big WR types in the past.  Also not as good at defending the ball in the air as he should be for his size, but he’s a decent outside reserve and plays a lot of special teams.  Sid has really been too consistently injured and failed to play to his physical talent to be worth a spot any longer.

No "I told you so" post from Djax yet.  Maybe he's decided to handle this one with grace and not mention it?
I was at work from noon till 7 and got home and ubered to S Philly a few blocks from the stadiums to the my brothers place and just got home. All I'll say is I'm not surprised he was cut just based on what I had heard. He didn't take his lack of playing time well last year and he was someone who blamed others rather then taking responsibility for himself. They hoped Manuel being there would help this year but from day 1 in camp they knew it wasn't working. I'm more surprised SUL was cut do to the things I said and Ash just mentioned.

I didn't like the pick of Jones in the first round before the Achillies as when I did see him play I just wasn't impressed enough to try and debate he was a top CB in the NFL. He got smoked by Juju and one other. I think he matched up in another vs JJAW didn't sit pretty either. After the blown achilles I said well if he drops to like the 5th round I'd take a chance. At the 2nd round I just hated the value. My biggest concern was Jones who relied on speed tore his achilles and you usually lose a step or two after the injury That one or two steps he's lost has proven a difference. Along with the lack of coach ability I heard talked about. I'm happy they tried to get something before cutting him but honestly his  :censored:  should've been out the door by last training camp. I won't brag how I was right just will say I'm glad they decided he was a mistake and cut bait while they still could. He was also a Joe Douglas pick as apparently Joe Loved him in the draft. Udlin and others were not. The minute Schwartz mentioned Jones on the hot seat in Camp I knew he was gone.

Didn't read that but I'm assuming it's just a way-too-long version of "I knew and told everyone when we drafted him that we shouldn't have"

Not really It was more or less saying I was never a fan of the player from day 1 was ok with getting him in the 5th but I hated more of the fact do to value he was taken in the 2nd. Also wasn't shocked he was cut after hearing Schwartz mention he was on the hotseat. I kept quite but there was some coach ability issues with Sid and he didn't like the lack of playing time he got last year. He also apparently refused to play Teams. Mentioned how I think  his achilles killed him more considering he's a guy who relies on his speed more then anything and I'm glad they cut bait instead of trying to salvage the dude. This isn't I'm right you guys were wrong post just more of an analyst of why it didn't work out in the end.

Half that length and I'll read it!  :P

So the team tried shopping Alshon before keeping him. I do not know anything in terms of details what they wanted for Jeffrey nor what they were seeking as fair offer for SUL/Sid either. I just know they want to get rid of ALshon and his contract. Avery here over Ostman is just them trying to defend trading what they did for Avery. Alshon needs to be traded to get of his contract. He's been good personally in the locker room in camp and such but I think the Eagles would love to get rid of the contract and not deal with anymore headaches with him.

Philadelphia is signing 41-year-old QB Josh McCown to its practice squad and making him oldest practice squad player in NFL history, league sources tell ESPN,” Schefter tweeted. “McCown will live in Texas, make $12,000 a week and serve as the Eagles’ emergency QB.”

QB factory continues

Here’s the practice squad:
• J. McCown
• Grayland Arnold
• Deontay Burnett
• Travis Fulgham
• Elijah Holyfield
• Luke Juriga
• Adrian Killins
• Sua Opeta
• Joe Ostman
• Elijah Riley
• P.T. Wanogho
• Michael Warren
• Raequan Williams
• Trevor Williams
• Caleb Wilson

Rasul Douglas and Shariff Miller were picked up by Carolina Panthers.

Sidney Jones was signed to the Tanking Jaguars Practice Squad.

Word is with LeBlanc a vested Vet which means he doesn't need to clear waivers the Eagles have Interest in bringing him back. Just needed to make room for Huntley and didn't want to risk losing someone through waiver they wanted to keep. Will Parks was placed on IR with Quez Watkins today so he could comeback soon.

TE Noah Toagiai signed with the Colts or was claimed by them

You don't have like... a sister's teacher's best  friend's daughter in law's dog walker that lives in Florida and is going to give you inside info on the Jag's practice squad performances do you?

#FreeSidJones

“Peters came into Pederson's office this morning to say he'd play left tackle.

Eagles are still working out right guard. Matt Pryor, Nate Herbig and Jack Driscoll are the three options.”

I'm guessing Quez wont be back this season unless DeSean gets hurt. We liked what we saw from him, but with Alshon and DJax, he wasnt gonna get any time.  Next year the two vets are gone, and we roll out Reagor, Hightower, and Watkins (maybe Ward).

Nope only thing I know is he was a Joe Douglas guy Sid and he apparently came to camp this year with a pretty poor attitude. He's right where he should be right now on some teams practice squad.

Eagles are trying to shop ALshon. With the new IR rules for this season Quez only has to spend 29 days on IR. If Watkins injury isn't too serious he could return if they end up trading Alshon. Word is they hope Jeffrey can play end of Sept. Lets hope Alshon comes back and lights it up for some trade value and we can get him off this roster sooner then later.

Trubisky wins the starting job over Foles.  I feel bad for the guy.  He's a hero in Philly but has had absolutely no success in all his other stops around the league.  Like... how do you lose out to Trubisky???

Probably pedigree over performance. Bears traded a 1st, two 3rds, and a 5th just to move up from #3 to #2 and take him over Mahomes and Watson so they probably feel like they need to give him one last chance to justify it. Wouldn't be surprised if they are quick to hand it over to Foles if Mitch looks like the same middling QB.

Heard from a Bears fan the rationale was that Trubisky knows the playbook better and he assumes Foles takes over by week 4. If there was a real training camp/preseason probably would have been Foles' job.

Schwartz has now mentioned twice that he's not in charge of which players make the final 53.
Neither is Doug. But both of them have heavy influence/input with Howie, who is the one technically "in charge" of making the final decision.
Looking at the Defense for the 53-man and the only one that stands out as someone where Schwartz's preference was overruled is Avery. He definitely wasn't a Jones fan, but I could see him wanting to keep Rasul over Avery, but Howie making the final call and going with the guy he traded a draft pick for

JP back to left, as expected.

Crappy DB's off the roster, as expected.

I also don't see a way we are truly keeping Alshon, so Quez will get time this year, especially w Goodwin on his best Frank Gore impersonation this year as an Eagle.

plus once they bench Trubisky, its probably hard to go back.

i tried to find the article from last week but don't see it, there was speculation that they signed Foles instead of looking at the likes of Cam because they "knew" Trub can beat Foles. I see folly in that logic, but it adds to the FO really really wants (or rather are desperate for) Trub to be the guy storyline.

back on philly beat, just saw faust posted on Reagor thread he may be back by week 2. :confetti:

I fully expect him to not come back till week 5, then leave early and report he's getting the surgery after all.
why is that? i didnt actually see the play where he got hurt, but all reports are no tear, so if he was a tackle or on defense i might understand, but as a receiver he's gtg as long as he has his range of motion, no? the excitement of seeing Wentz healthy would be even better to see this kid try and live up to where he was drafted.

That seems like the only logical thinking which is why I believe Fitz is starting over Tua in Mia right now

totally different situation imo, fitz is viable for a few weeks and has proven it for multiple teams. trub might have Fitz beat on draft stock, but in real NFL pedigree he isn't even in the same zip code. i would say Fitz's situation is more like Tyrod's in LA, two journeymen QB's who can win you some games, but really just keeping the seat warm.

Yeah, if Trub is confirmed a total bust, these guys lose their jobs. Of course that assumes clued-in ownership and I dunno if the Bears have that.

40 years as an Eagles fan

In his press conference Doug was hesitant to say Lane will be ready for Sunday. Might be why he wasn't committing to Pryor being RG with Peters moving to LT (Pryor is back-up RT.)

Also said Miles Sanders would be eased in this game, after missing last couple of weeks, so might not yet be the bell cow some were expecting.

Reports out of practice are that Lane was limited to only individual drills and Jalen Reagor was a full participant (even doing punt returns.)

😞 Derek Barnett didn’t have pads on. Lane Johnson and Miles Sanders participated full during open period. Jalen Reagor, as well. He fielded punts. Javon Hargrave wasn’t present.

Back on the field as #Eagles prep for first game against Washington, Lane Johnson but only for individual drills. Miles Sanders also back. ⁦

Key offensive starters Carson Wentz, Jalen Reagor, Miles Sanders and Lane Johnson were all participating during the open period of practice at the NovaCare Complex.

Reagor was running receiver drills and even fielding punts at practice, which could be a sign that he’ll be healthy enough to play Sunday.
Of the entire group, Wentz is a lock to play and Johnson now seems to be with his first work in 2 1/2 weeks. The others are more of a wait-and-see.
