*Official 2020 Philadelphia Eagles Thread* Humanity will never recover from the most horrible event to happen in the last 100 years: Doug Pederson pla (1 Viewer)

Personally would rather keep Pryor at RG and see Driscoll at RT.  We gotta get these young guys their time...

Also seems like we blinked and are giving JP his raise.  Salary cap cuts next year are gonna be painful. I think we trade Ertz.

Couple the cap issues with horrible drafts and next year is Howie’s last IMO unless he hits on 2-3 of these picks. If these guys all bust we’re screwed for a while.

The #Eagles have given Jason Peters a new 1-year deal, worth up to $8 million with $4 million guaranteed. Peters' agent announced the new deal.
Horrible precedent to set
Is it though? An extra $1MM in guarantee and $1MM in incentives seems like a pretty fair thing to do, and for him to accept, given the situation. Might be worth more in goodwill and reputation for future situations and potential FA's that the team did "the right thing" for a player.

There isn't anyone in the "real world" that wouldn't have felt the same way if they were laid-off, spent a few months trying to find anther job, got offered a different job from their old company at a salary commensurate with that different job, then a couple weeks after they started the company asked them to go back to doing their old job because the guy that replaced you suddenly quit.

ETA: I would rather them set this precedent over the one they set with Alshon's re-worked contract.

Ive seen this argument made a few times with the different positions.  Jason Peters didn't get RG money.  Jason Peters got 38 year old nobody wants you money.  Jason Peters capitalized on an injury and used leverage to squeak out more money, while already on the team. Where does that end?  Do you think Kelce, Ertz, Cox, Graham etc would like a few extra bucks or incentives?  How would you feel now if Kelce just refused to play and wanted a little more now?  How about if Cox or Graham said "You know what, you guys also move me from DT to DE in certain packages, I should get more as well"?

The only hypotheticals I am interested in is stats, win losses and injuries at this point. I'll let Howie, the team and front office figure out the contracts etc. Just ordered my JP jersey, about a decade late, but a legend is a legend.

tz.

I do trust Howie a ton with the cap and overall I LOVE Jason Peters.  He's been tremendous and should be a HOFer IMO...but I wouldn't be able to bring myself to buy an OL jersey lol.

I feel ya there. I like to zig when most zag I guess. Everyone has a Desean/Ertz/Carson jersey at this point.

No talk about the Ertz bombshell?  It's not as cordial as we thought.
LOL i deleted the rest but the "TZ" of what I was going to say in an earlier response "man I really don't want to lose Ertz"

Seems like he IS emotional though and maybe that is more than anything else. Another great season, etc. should be able to work "something" out.

At the same time, this is a business etc. Man he is one of my favorites it would really hurt.

#Eagles T Lane Johnson had surgery on his ankle last month, NFL source confirmed @Tim_McManus report. Source called it a minor clean up of loose cartilage after he played on a high ankle sprain late last season. Johnson’s status for Sunday is still uncertain.

I don't know anything about the details, maybe they had to wait for swelling to go down before doing surgery. But, wth is Lane doing waiting until August to have ankle surgery?

Our medical staff continues to underwhelm, and our Oline is going to be hot garbage this year.

It’s a totally new medical staff too FWIW

I know, that is what makes it worse. I hoped it’d be different.

2018 DBs get destroyed by injury

2019 WRs wiped out by injury, Djax sports hernia fiasco

2020 year of the Oline. We are snake bitten.
Yep and out of all the positions outside of QB, OL is the last one I want dinged up.

Eagles fans are ya'll a little bit scared of Wentz getting wrecked this weekend? While no doubt I'd rank your offense better  I do think Washington's pass rush (especially with Young) could give your line fits....Wentz will need to unload quickly me thinks

Whoa, quite the abrasive approach you have there. I mean I don’t mind but maybe a little lube next time, aye?

Sup Eagles fans. Good luck this year.

Yup.... so uh, that’s all I got.  :D

OK,  you guy may have been right about Dallas Godert. Dude is a monster.

Hey I'm not expecting Washington to win, just saying if you look at the one strength of our team (pass rush) and the Eagles main weakness (o-line) I would think that would be a concern. I have Wentz on a few of my dynasty leagues, not wishing any ill will but I'd be cheering for him to dump the ball of quick if I were an Eagles fan.

Wentz had struggled to get the ball out quickly in the past, if that returns then yea, he could get pressured a lot.  Supposedly they've worked on the quick passing game this offseason - but it was short coronavirus offseason, so we'll see.

Not thinking this will be close. Not entirely sure Washington will be able to move the ball well at all. Jackson and/or Reagor will get a couple long ones.

Thinking 38-14 myself.

With such a strange off-season, some teams will be better prepared for week one then others....and Philly SHOULD be better then most in that regard with less turnover then many (esp. among coaching staff), but it's hard to be sure.....gonna be a few surprise results tomorrow.

Nah fully expecting to have Carson Wentz over throw a WR and Darby getting burned and waiving his hands incomplete like he did something. Then a few plays later Darby gets absolutely burned on a bomb. Have fun with MR Toast this season

Scott is 5’7” 203 lbs.

Clement is 5’10” 220 lbs.

Seems like one of those gets between the tackles carries and one gets the satellite back work.

Scott has done goal line work work for us last year. It was pretty amazing he was like a little ping pong ball bouncing off guys. Baby Yoda used big time Jedi force for that.

Predictions: rough game but the Birds win.

First half, Eagles go down 10-0. Wentz sacked 3 times, feels like way more. Offense can’t get anything done. Scott gets dinged, Clement can’t get on track.

2nd half rally. Carson relies on quick drops and screen passes

Reagor 60 yds and a 20+ yd TD.

Ertz 7 rec, 100+ yd game.

Goedert 1 TD, nothing else.

Eagles <75 yds rushing.

Final score 24-13.

I thought Reagor was out at least first week?

Sounds kind of like the opener last year (and the opener vs. Jacksonville a few years before that). We were terrible in the first half but rallied to beat a bad team in the second half.

We’re typically horrible the first half. Would be nice to have some momentum going into the half.

Really curious how this offense is gonna work.

SO bright side...

Maybe Driscoll looks good at RT, and we have someone that can take over next year. Maybe...

edit: We can't get rid of Lane though, but maybe Lane could move to LT

Zach Ertz and Howie Roseman reportedly got into "a very heated discussion" in front of others after a recent practice.

Is this what caused the #Eagles tight end to speak out on his contract situation — or the result of it?

Does anyone else have this many injuries to start the year?  We deal with that crap every year but somehow seems even worse than usual
