Official 2022 college football thread: its conference realignment season. (1 Viewer)

Michigan D is stout.
Wouldnt go that far, but its not the drop off i was expecting. Last week showed that they can still make "rookie" mistakes. They played well in that game (biggest challenge so far) but gave up too many big plays on missed assignments etc.

Im more concerned about the offense and play calling

For fans tuning into @UHCougarFB vs. Tulane (6 p.m. CT kickoff): @espn will cut into tonight’s coverage for live look-ins to at-bats for Aaron Judge, who is in pursuit of breaking Roger Maris’s single-season AL home run record.
I like it even though I know it's sacrilegious to go split screen with the historic "4th Friday in September" Tulane vs Houston game. I would like to see Judge hit it live, but would rather not watch the whole MLB game.
It’s not like there’s an entire network dedicated to baseball or anything. MLB Network shows games most every day.

Last night they showed the meaningless Yankees/Orioles Judge walk-fest instead of, you know, the first game of a division-deciding series featuring two of the best pitchers in the game. Not that I'm bitter and despise everything Yankees or anything. MLB network can go screw themselves.
Yuck the ...

Man, OU and Texas in the SEC has potential to be Nebraska-like.

Just depends on whether or not they have the right coaches in place, seems like that’s pretty much all that matters. Obviously that’s TBD with Venables and Sark. aTm and Mizzou were just fine.

Arkansas may be the ceiling. They at least try.
I can never tell if you are trolling or serious but this is one of your dumber ones

I doubt they have success. Probably Auburn level is more realistic. OU doesn't seem to have the NIL thing warming up and the coaching situation isn't ideal either. It's just so hard to get momentum in the sec. And the sheer number of teams is just making the math hard. Odds are in any year one of the sixteen? Schools will simply be better and one will be better on a given Saturday.

The move just doesn't make sense.

It’s a money thing.

I’m sorry what
I feel like we did this a few years back. aTm’s conference winning percentage is higher in the SEC than it was in the Big 12. Missouri made the SEC Championship 2 of their first 3 years in the conference, same number of times they made it in the Big 12. I think their record is a tad worse overall but for the most part they’ve maintained their level.

So you were trolling by saying Arkansas is the ceiling - got it. Appreciate your real thoughts and they aren’t without merit. The whole thing is a bubble and when it pops hopefully we can get back to regional alignments that make sense with an expanded playoff.
