Official 2022 college football thread: its conference realignment season. (2 Viewers)

Well that was close but man ND’s OL played terrible today. All 5 starters played, including 1 All American, and they sure didn’t look like it.

Still dislike Rees’ offensive philosophy greatly and hope he moves on this offseason.
I thought ND did a decent job on play designs that worked to confuse a defense playing a lot of reserves. Freddie Kitchens showed a bit of why he doesn’t get to call plays.

My main takeaway at a fun Gator Bowl was just how shiny those ND helmets look in person. Also Jacksonville seemed completely unprepared to handle the amount of fans as both schools traveled well.

The bad news is Michigan is getting hammered and my family is sad and I am pulling for them but the good news is when I go to a game next year and the announcer does the pregame “we are the greatest program in history and we bow down to nobody” shtick I’ll still be able to roll my eyes a little.

Greatest program history? Doesn't Michigan have one National Championship in their history? That's asinine.
Buddy they say it loud and proud, multiple times.

Michigan got hosed. Not sure that early td would have mattered but sheesh.

Yes, Michigan foolishly went for it early on 4th down, threw a pick-6, gave up half a hundred but the reason they lost this game was because they were hosed. Some of your takes are just mind boggling in their incredulity.

Agree that both the disallowed TD and the targeting non-call were terrible (as was the roughing call on TCU) but I can’t say Michigan was jobbed because they didn’t deserve to win that game

Have they heard of a state names Alabama? Hell, Ohio State has more hardware. What silliness.

The refs had a really large impact on the way this game went from start to finish. Michigan didn't come to play, but would have like to seen a cleaner officiated game for how wild it was.

Coaching decisions had a large impact too. So did the mistakes made. Lack of a defense that I was told was "elite" was anything but. And you owe Pac12 refs an apology because they didn't officiate this one.

We got them now. Seem goodish?

My cousin on the non-call: “Guy in the booth told them they needed to start UGA-OSU.” :lmao:

The play was an abortion from the snap. You cannot extend the game on a 4th down play of that level of Three Stoogenesss because there was potential targeting after the play was dead to rights. But I do like the idea that bedtime was a factor in the decision.
Funny, I had the opposite thought: apart from my rooting interest and general sense of football propriety, I wanted to see the foul called just to contribute to the overall chaos vibe. Also would have been a sort of delayed makeup call to the state of Michigan for the phantom RTP on the Lions the play before Rodgers’ 2015 Hail Mary

I think our GB General M has begun his NY celebration. :D

That's true. :bag:

But I'm not about to join the whine wagon that Michigan lost because of the referees. Take care of the football. Take points when you have a chance. Stop the other team. Michigan didn't do that. That's not a drunk observation, that's Football 101.

Fan here.... they didn't deserve to win. I leave this pissing and moaning about refs to ND and MSU fans

Most wins ever or something. A lot of their merch has titles from the 1920s. Cracks me up but they still have to root for the Lions so I don’t bust balls.

Both pro and college football need to implement the ultimate replay fix. You can only watch the replay 5 times. And you can only go as slow as half speed. Then make the best call you can and move on.

I’ve been Go Blue since 1969 but def in the casual side. Much bigger fan of the Honolulu Blue, so not the best representative.

My pastor is from Alabama. Roll Tide everything. He tries to needle me about Michigan/B1G not being on par with Bama/SEC. I just hit him with the

“Bruh we got two games that matter: Sparty & the trolls underneath us. We don’t even care about the playoffs.”

It’s total schtick, kills me they aren’t ever good enough to compete for a natty. Ain’t ever gonna admit that to an SEC guy tho lol.

Lifelong UM fan. Mom went there, Dad’s from Detroit and a bunch of his relatives did (he would have gone himself, but he was a child of immigrants and they needed him to help out in their store, so he commuted to Wayne State).

I know it’s a storied program and all, but it’s always felt like they’ve underachieved. Wasn’t at all surprised to see them blow todays game

I grew up watching Schembechler lose the Rose Bowl every other year, I’m used to it.

Grew up in a home that had a Michigan-Ohio State watch party every year (& we always invited obnoxious tOSU fans.) Family has been season ticket holders for 50 years. Named my oldest son Bo. Love Michigan.

got accepted but their partial scholarship offer came in 3rd; took the full ride at Central. not for nothing, the Chips DID win a D-II title when I was 12, went to one of the playoff games - dumb reason to pick a school but I was pretty much #chip4life after 1974.

If I was an alumni it would probably hurt more. But I get plenty of pain from Detroit so…saul good-man.

Same with my wife’s family, until the grandparents moved to Florida than they gave the seats up. Grandpa was an Ann Arbor firefighter who worked the fields on game day. He’s in all kinds of newspaper photos with his arms up celebrating while he’s supposed to be working lol. He was a peach of a man. Hated Jim Harbaugh because he said he was a spoiled brat when he did brought him out on the field pre-game. Eminently believable.
