Norman's ego is the biggest issue here.  He's tried this before.  Several times.  And always failed.  The R&A, USGA, PGA of America, and PGA Tour all dislike him.  He's tried to stick it to each of them at times.  And as he takes his last breaths he's trying once again.  He thinks he's better than everyone that has walked the earth.  He chokes on the course.  He chokes at the end of each attempt to thwart the powers that be.  He will choke again.  For no other reason than his involvement, I hope this fails.

“Getting some details on this LIV event - it’s wild.  Invitations went out today, requiring you to sign within 48 hours of receipt.  You’ll need to wear a team uniform, perform all sorts of services, etc.  Crazy.”

 
@AP: BREAKING: Phil Mickelson withdrew from the PGA Championship, extending his hiatus from golf following his incendiary comments about a Saudi-funded rival league he supports and the PGA Tour he accused of greed. The defending champion did not give a reason. http://apne.ws/d5pGG2b

DFW is really trash for high level golf courses.  You can't maintain the right green speeds with the humidity/heat here and I don't care what anyone says live oaks are just not that interesting to look at. You can't put in pecans for the maintenance, same with red oaks.  That leaves you with the option of trying to do a linksy thing with no trees and everyone melts.  

Dallas National is on another level to everything around here, but there's no practical way to do the spectators there.

Not usually a big fan of the super low scoring but this one is fun

Spieth’s swing change is understandably questioned by many since he was coming off such good tee to green stats, but eye ball test for me it seems better…more solid and consistent.

Las colinas was a horrible site for anything but partying.  That golf course had all the personality of a toilet plunger. Then they doubled down and started playing at the even more forgettable course next door for Thurs/fri

For sure. It was a party with a tournament nearby.  The single most intoxicated I have ever been in my life was there.   The combination of the heat and the sun and corporate hospitality nearly killed me, had to get an IV. 

 
LO(F)L @ Shane Lowry dropping F-bombs galore after his tee shot.  Combined with his size, accent and slamming the club back down into the bag, a wonderful combination on display.  Love that guy.

ETA I re-wound it, there were 3 F-bombs on the broadcast, the loudest being "Oh me ####### God!".  :lmao:  

Van Pelt, without much to say goes, "Well, it's a tough game."

Rahm just registered a drive of 401 yards at 13.

ETA, holy crap, he took a 6 on the hole!  The drive was in the middle of the fairway, too, perfect lie.

When I first saw the Joe Buck, Mikey Collins combo commentary on ESPN I thought I would hate it.

But with Couples and now Pat Perez I love it! Freddie is trying to make serious golf commentary and the Perez shows up on a 2 day Vegas binge who says he got to his room at 6:00am and forgot about this interview until the last minute.

He was an alternate for this tourny and didn't even go. "I've been alternate before. $800 hotel rooms with nothing coming in. Not this time, I"M GOING TO VEGAS BABY!"

 
JT looks good with the tweaked putter. Could this be Ancer, Xander, or Will Z's break out? 

I thought I heard that the 36-hole leader has won almost all previous majors at Southern Hills.

 
Unique interview with JT as he's recovering...the commitment now around the clock vs the past is clear.

 
There are some drunks on 17 who are just going bonkers after every ball's hit.  Usually annoying, these guys are hilarious.  The course is empty and they're yelling way after the shot.  And I mean yelling until the ball stops rolling, so the whole dialogue is on the broadcast (main broadcast went to hockey, btw).  

Anyway, Van Pelt and co have been talking about them and finally said, look, they're hammered, we've all been there.   :lmao:  

 
Can NOT believe I did not fade DJ in his first tourney after getting married.  Should be an automatic "to miss the cut" bet and take everyone else in matchups.   :doh:

to be fair it’s DJ, he was just as likely to win the whole thing and when asked about his wedding during the winners interview drop a “oh yeah, i forgot that happened”

He was interviewed about an hour after his round…lying on the couch, wrapped tightly in a robe, with compression sleeves on both legs. Did the interview prone.
