*** Official 2022 PGA Tour Thread - Memorial Tournament, LIV list leaked- It's all Paulina's Fault **** (2 Viewers)

most of us will only see him play 5x a year (the majors and the Ryder/Pres cups)
To be fair - that describes a lot of casual golf fans who only tune in to the majors/Ryder Cup... so, that is probably enough.

Yeah....fair. If you're someone who only tunes in for the big ones and doesn't follow golf social media.....it doesnt really matter if a top 10 player is playing PGA or LIV.

The true golf sickos will tune in for the signature events and follow all the general day-to-day discussion(which the LIV guys are completely left out of), but I recognize that's not the majority.

Yeah, whoever is handling Bryson's PR deserves a MAJOR raise.

I've never thought he was a BAD guy. (compared to say Patrick Reed...who is a genuinely crappy person) His whole persona was just really tough to take between the slow play.....the constant crying for free drops (although plenty of other players obviously do that as well. The fact that I have to hit out of a fairway divot but they can get "line of sight" relief from an 8 inch wide TV tower 75 yards in front of them is fairly hilarious) and his general "I'm smarter than everyone" vibe. And then he obviously went to LIV, which didn't help.

He's mostly really good on Youtube and seems to genuinely enjoy interacting with the fans, so good for him (and good for the game). I think he's trying to step in and capture that "man of the people" role that Phil had (And unlike Phil, its not 100% phony) and use it for momentum going forward. But of course.....most of us will only see him play 5x a year (the majors and the Ryder/Pres cups)

Hoping NFLX features him on Full Swing. He should take advantage of the positive PR now and let the world see him when he's not playing golf too. I've come around on him too, but I was never one that disliked him as much as others. Just thought he was too......BRO-y. But that was fun this week. More of that please.

Based on the color difference between his forehead and the rest of his face.....I'm pretty sure he's never NOT playing golf.

They all have it (and even someone like me....who plays like 60 Summer rounds a year and rarely hits the beach without a hat).....but his golfers hat tan was STUNNING

I play a lot of golf and watch the pga every week (obviously varies by tournament how much)...... I don't watch any socials so I have no clue whats going on with most golfers lol

I have it and its awful. I try to mow the lawn and stuff without a hat but it never catches up. Even when I sunblock my neck

Last hole under the tree with the giant root was reminding me of the last hole in the classic Happy Gilmore / Shoot McGavin showdown at the Tour Championship.

Well you want see DeChambeau or any other LIV players in the Presidents Cup. They are ineligible. It's run by the PGA Tour. It's more damaging to the international team. They had way more guys go to LIV.

As always, hate the "get in the hole" yells after most shots. Also, I thought the "USA, USA" chants were annoying as well. And no, I don't hate America.

Yea it was definitely disrespectful to Rory. Also kind of silly/ironic given that they were doing it for the Saudi backed player.
It was chanted Saturday too when Åberg was with DeChambeau. I'm not disputing with you @FreeBaGeL, just stating another observation

You guys.....it's not The Masters where an audible fart earns a lifetime ban. Fans are going to do fan things. It's the US Open. The fans want an American to win. Especially deep in the south.

I swear some of you have watched golf for the first time this year and have OPinIoNS

I'm old enough to remember when I could watch a Sunday at the US Open without having to hear the phrase "ba ba booey“ 8 times an hour.

Chanting U-S-A! after a foreigner misses a putt is completely classless. Those bafoons are an embarrassment to the country and to the game. You could argue that it's maybe ok during the Ryder Cup but this wasn't the Ryder Cup and Rory hadn't even holed out yet. Complete idiots.

I disagree. These fans have seen Happy Gilmore a few too many times. Golf fans aren't supposed to act this way.

They need to go back to their shanties.

Yeah, so am I. That just means we are old. "GET IN THE HOLE" and "Ba back booey" chants are older than many of the best players playing today.

Toothpaste left the tube long ago.

You can't lionize a frat bro event like the WM Phoenix Open and then expect perfect decorum from a US Open crowd.

The Masters can police this tawdry behavior so golf has a model in place. Not sure how you standardize that for revolving venue major events.

I didn't see much policing of behavior at the masters from the gallery. The tickets cost 20x what an open ticket costs so that is a factor for sure.

Again, no. Just because it's acceptable in one venue* doesn't mean it's automatically acceptable everywhere.

*And just watch how different it is at WM next year.

Not really. Tickets to the Masters are actually relatively inexpensive (at face value anyway). And you might not see the behavior police but it most certainly is there.

Lol at thinking anyone pays face for tickets to the masters.

Everyone sells the tickets they won in the lottery? No.

Anyway, the point is that if you misbehave you're out. It has little to nothing to do with the price of tickets keeping the riff raff out

The lottery provides a fraction of tickets. Most are the members tickets that sell them to brokers. The tickets are badges for the full week. When you get in with one of the brokers you deal with the situation you lose or otherwise don't return a badge, often with a deposit.

The deposit was quite a bit. Some have you escrow the damn money.

Never saw anyone get in trouble nor get their badge yanked. In fact there was nearly no marked security anywhere.

Rates for Thurs/Fri range a bunch and depends on how hot your hosts are and whatever. Paid $4500 in 2016 for Thurs Fri . Did practice before and it was fine and cheap.

Same outfit looking for 8k now and 12 weekends.

Done 4 us opens. Paid $150 for entire week passes at points.

Huh. I guess I was entirely wrong.

If higher ticket prices would help with some of these behavior issues, let's do it! I'm pretty sure the game of golf is aware the objective is to "get in the hole!" without the dude bro prompting.

Incredible to win that tournament playing out of the grassy sand junk all day yesterday
Chamblee was so annoyed that he kept getting away with it.
His blatant rooting for Rory was terrible form from a "broadcaster."
He doesn't really blur the lines of how he feels about certain players or their performance. He was all over Cantlay too. One of the other announcers even got a jab in there that wasn't quite as blatant as "What the Hell do you know? You've never had to perform in a situation like this," but it was pretty close. Might have been Faxon or Curtis Strange.

That's my point. We've been racing to the bottom for decades. If it just now bothers you, you either don't watch that much golf or you're just getting older and crowd behavior is beginning to bug you.

Oh no, I've disliked the masses for quite some time.

Im on team Andy always hated the dumbasses that scream after a shot. Which has been happening for about 20 years if not more
Right, and it's not limited to just Muricans. They can get a little boorish overseas too.
Hey man! There are two types of people I can't stand - those who are intolerant of other people's cultures and... The Dutch.

Feel like AI can filter that sound out or they could do more with directional mics
I will be yelling, "ALLEN IVERSON!!!" the next tournament I go to so you guys know it's me.

I think last year one of the networks (ESPN+ maybe) was experimenting with like 2 seconds of dead air after a shot, but that might have been for players swearing.

This is exactly it, IMO.

We live in an era of exhibitionism and attention whoring. You just know these bozos go home and ask, "Did you hear the guy on 16 yelling 'Get in the hole' all day? That was ME! :excited: "

Good for you, bro. Good for you.

Right, and the guys on their cell phones are being goaded into it by their bros. "YELL MASH POTATOES!" - Guy on beer 8 only happy to comply.

Get rid of the cell phones.
