*** Official 2022 PGA Tour Thread - Memorial Tournament, LIV list leaked- It's all Paulina's Fault **** (2 Viewers)

I also thought the question was more about Bryson re: popularity effects.
My bad then. You wrote “not allowed to discuss it here” so I assumed politics…
Yeah, I thought it would turn into some sort of political discussion just because it involved DT. It's great that if we can keep politics out of it since it doesn't have anything to do with politics.

Horrible putting stroke but somehow it works for him. He's a solid player for sure. No chance he's a legit club champ though. 2.5 handicap? C'mon.
Yea this. He is old and hits it well and no doubt is a good golfer. I’m like a 12 these days and i’d give myself a good chance. More so if we played legitimate tees.

Trump hits a nice right-leaning cut while Bryson plays a left-biased draw. Totally opposite golf swing ideologies. I'm just glad they were able to put those differences aside and be friendly for 18 holes and create some good content.

Dechambeau's upcoming Breaking 50 partner is an interesting choice. Although I suppose it can't be discussed here.
Not sure if it will raise, or lower, his popularity.
I think everyone has already made up their mind about him one way or the other
I don’t know about that. Nobody has turned around an image in the game of golf like he has. The only player who is more popular in the States after going to LIV. Becoming a player for the people and infinitely more liked.
um they're not talking about Bryson
Hah. Totally whiffed on that one

Sounds like half my tee shots :oldunsure:

Yeah, the idea that Trump is a low single digit and anything close to a "club champ" is beyond laughable.

The NJ State open (open to Ams and pros) is happening this week at Plainfield Country Club. The champ at my club is there (he's a +3 handicap and hits it over 320 with ease when he wants to) along with an elite current D3 player (he's a +1.6) whose dad is a member at my club.

They're both currently losing to 2 members at Trump Bedminster (Guliani's son is one of them) by multiple shots.

Trump couldn't play with either of those guys if you gave him 6 strokes a side if you made him putt everything out and had someone watching him for foot-wedges and lie-fluffing. (name the distance...it wouldnt matter)

Me too? I honestly have no idea

I want to play a round from the forward tees one of these days to see what I’d shoot from there. tee times are so damn expensive these days that it’d have to be a replay rate round and I’d have to hope the course wasn’t completely jammed up

the weather sounds fun for the St. Jude today, between actual temp and humidity the feels like temp is 110, oof just brutal for those with afternoon tee times

Matsuyama had a helluva a firs round one considering he had a new caddie on the bag and was probably still pissed off from being robbed in London.

Hideki Matsuyama won't have his regular caddie and swing coach at this week's FedEx St. Jude Championship after the Japanese golfer and his team were robbed during a stopover in London.

After capturing a bronze medal in the men's golf competition at the Paris Olympics, Matsuyama stopped in London before flying to Memphis, Tennessee, the site of this week's PGA Tour event -- the first leg of the FedEx Cup playoffs.

Matsuyama told Golf Digest Japan that his wallet was stolen during the incident, but his passport and newly won Olympic medal weren't taken. His caddie, Shota Hayato, and his coach, Mikihito Kuromiya, had their passports and visas stolen.

Hayato and Kuromiya had to return to Japan, where they've asked for expedited documents to return to the U.S.

Report: Jon Rahm desperate to rejoin PGA Tour and give back LIV millions

Jon Rahm would give back his LIV Golf riches and return to the PGA Tour in a heartbeat, according to a report about the Spaniard.

Glory's Cost: Will money ruin the chase for golf greatness?

I believe he wants to come back. I don't believe for a second that he'd give back the money
Agreed…I also think Rahm believed his jump would help trigger a deal with the PGA Tour. And I’m not sure that’s advanced since then at all.

So this Burns dude just snapped his driver after shanking a ball.

Does he get to replace it after this round or is he without a driver for tomorrow?

What ever happened to the LIV PGA merger thing?

I barely have any idea the LIV exists, I follow/watch a lot of golf and have barely heard a word about LIV in a year +.

he gets it back for tomorrow
They ended up explaining it during the broadcast, but it specifically states that the club was broken "in anger".

So if a player breaks a club under a normal swing incident, when can that be replaced?

Basically as soon as prime shipping can deliver it.

Nothing meaningful…last general thought was LIV didn’t seem very interested in doing anything different.

Budding superstar Nick Dunlap hasn’t done much at all in Majors…could be a big step for the 20-yr-old today.

he won an event as an amateur to start the year, then accepted his tour card and won another event. He’s already taken very big steps
Agree…He’s also the only player in golf history to win a Jr Amateur and US Amateur not named Tiger (3 of each). Not trying to rush his success…just hasn’t flipped that major/Playoff contention switch yet.

He also doesn’t get talked about enough.

He's fun to watch too, minus the roll tide scorebook. He scrambled to save some neats pars yesterday.

He was a nervous wreck…which you could see on his face…https://x.com/pgatour/status/1825308374310772859?s=46&t=vQG5LrFwGikYrruOJaeCMg

I noticed Scheffler is about to wrap up his first Vardon Trophy for the Tour's lowest scoring average. Was curious how close he came to setting a record, it's been a remarkable 2024 - 6 wins including the Masters and the Players, Olympic Gold Medal in Paris, 15 Top 10s in 18 events before East Lake.

Well, good for 7th place all-time. Same dude has the top 6 spots.

The years give it away, I would have wondered if it was Nicklaus or some other older golfer vs the obvious guess.

Ironically, Jack won zero Vardon Trophies. He led the Tour in scoring average 8 times, but never played the minimum number of rounds (used to be 80, now it’s 60.) Even still, he never bested Woods Top 6.

Chi Chi Rodriguez said Jack was a legend in his spare time. Promised his wife when he turned pro he would never be away from for more than two weeks. In the 60s he averaged 23 tournaments a year when most guys played 30-35. Once he started designing courses, lost thirty pounds & grew his hair long, he played way less; on average, 16.5 tournaments per year 1970-86.

I just flipped the channel over to the LIV tournament. Have not watched much of LIV but I couldn’t watch much without muting it. Is the background music taking place at the course or is that from the network? Very annoying!
