How long before the European clubs take FIFA on?

Johnny Infinite seems to have a lot of ideas about how players being paid by someone else ought to spend an ever-increasing portion of their time working to line his pockets.

At least FIFA is actually paying the clubs now, even if it is too little, too late.

They just announced the next club World Cup will be in Morocco. Just like Blatter he knows how to keep a stranglehold on power.
Only the SuperLeague can save us.

Not a lot of middle ground here. Hard to deny they are the best team of my lifetime.
I'm not sure. Using the time range you've selected, There's arguments to made for each of the teams below.
Brazil has two titles, a runner up, 4th place and 5 quarter final exits.
Italy has two titles, a runner up, and a 3rd ... the two DNQs hurt though.
Germany has two titles, three runner ups, two 3rds and two quarter final exits.
Argentina has a title, two runner ups, and three quarter final exits, and will either finish 1st or 2nd this time.
I'm not saying France isn't a good team, or they don't belong in the discussion. I'm just saying "hard to deny" isn't accounting for these other runs.
Not meaning to argue or :pokey:,just saw your post and thought I would compare with other teams.

As a French citizen, not gonna lie, I'm super pumped....YEEESSSSS!!!!
I approve of your avatar sir.

Using that chart it looks like Germany by a lot.

:lmao: remember when we were worried about this being a predictable 0-0 repeat?
Without looking at past scores, I think that past 3rd place games have tended to be pretty wide open. Once you're not playing for the whole thing and with no real difference between 3rd and 4th (you lost in the semis) the incentives are gone.

There is going to be many many 0's in this contract offer

Paris Saint-Germain will make their proposal to Lionel Messi in the next weeks. All the people into the club want Leo to stay and continue at least for one more year. Messi will decide in 2023, PSG will push after Inter Miami approached (but nothing was agreed).

If PSG still want him, why would he got to Miami? I know it's common for these guys to ride out their twilight in the MLS but I can't remember them really doing it when they were still fit as a top player in the world with a major club still wanting them to be a major piece.

Seems like Miami is a few years early on this.

Zlatan came to MLS and then went on to play great for Milan. The big name players who come sometimes are still wanted by top teams but they come for different reasons. Miami may be offering an ownership incentive, which is how LA landed Beckham all those years ago.

Busquets right now is deciding between Barca and an unnamed MLS team for example.

"I'm not even a Messi fan." -- Alexi Lalas actually just said that out loud.
Did we talk about this and I just missed it? The Skip Bayless of soccer is at it again.

And after this morning's sports washing bit, I bet Lalas is glad the KKK isn't hosting this thing.

Yeah these tend to play out that way. Sometimes you get a dull effort if a heavy favorite loses in the semis. Morocco probably never sees this big of a stage again. Croatia has proven that that is not as certain with them but surely they want to send off their greatest player in the best possible way.

What a lovely 2nd… when’s the last time we saw that from the US men?

shooting (or basically anything in the final 3rd) is clearly the current version of the teams weak area. This is more concerning because much of our talent is on the wings.

Gio is the only one of the team that can score a goal of this quality. He scored a very similar goal for Dortmund back when he was 17 and just breaking in.

I missed the sports washing this morning but I'm sure Rupert's network gave a top notch effort in that regard. It's nothing new but certainly this has been one of the more egregious examples.

What's the first case of sports washing? The chariot races way back when? I am not sure I would consider Berlin Olympics are an example - covering up misdeeds was not the point to that one (actually might be sort of a backwards sports washing as probably the most cherished Olympic tradition - the torch run and lighting - started with that Olympics :oldunsure: - this is not very often mentioned)

Ironically didn't we have this exact same discussion of "was it a pass or a shot" on almost an identical play in one of the USMNT qualifiers? I think maybe it was Jedi, but can't recall.

If I recall, I was on "team pass" then as well, but most thought it was a shot.

This is an eye opening statistical comparison of Messi and MBappe at the same age.

I still take Haaland over him.

I would too but that is comparing different positions to be fair.

It is going to be awful if Haaland never plays in a World Cup.
If we change the name to Harland, any chance he can be cap tied to USMNT?

Can you imagine what we'd be like with a striker like that?

no one likes the idea of a 3rd place game but it is great to see it still have some meaning, even to a legend with a ton of trophies on his resume (especially when on the surface this is a massive accomplishment for 99% of the countries in the world)

I was thinking Morocco would definitely care for FIFA rankings as well.

They have to jump significantly given their wins against top ranked nations this tournament, right?

Being the only player to break the C-Ro and Messi stranglehold on the Ballon d'Or over a period of a dozen years(!) is amazing. What a player.
