***Official 2022 World Cup Thread*** (4 Viewers)

oh wow, I did not see this (I need to stop sleeping so much so I can see the early games :))

==============

Cameroon sent their starting keeper home because he refused to play long balls from goal kicks as they thought he was being too careless with the ball near his goal.

The back up keeper played today, booted it long, in which Serbia scored from.

My oldest son is a HS sophomore GK. His coach is from Cameroon and insists on long balls only. He's benched my son a few times over the last two years because of his apprehension to just auto-boot it every time.

:lmao:

FIFA addinf so many more Asian and African sides to the next World Cup looking not so bad though the same is we'll get few games between them if they stick to the 3-team groups

So in a little under 10 games:
Africa 13 GF 13 GA

In a little under 12 games:
Asia 13 GF 23 GA

In 8 games:
CONCACAF 3 GF 15 GA

:oldunsure:

Wow I have never seen a whistle before an attacking set piece before - and again it does look like not as much time gets added if there is a delay during stoppage time.

Don't shoot me for the dumb question, but why don't they stop the clock in soccer? I've never understood this? If it's some answer similar to one we get when we ask questions as to why we still do DST, then I'm good not rehashing, but I thought I'd ask just in case there is a good, legit reason that I am just unaware of....TIA....will answer yours!

heart warming- especially seeing Messi's face along with the kid.

but mostly? embarrassing. Guardado is a legend who just lost the game and likely Mex's chances at advancing. and you're going to go and do that?

ah hell... I'd have done the same thing. LEGEND
I think that clip it was after a la liga game between Barça and Betis. Messi is wearing maroon, Guardado's kid in green and white stripes with a la liga patch on the sleeve.
Yes. It's clearly in the Betis stadium.

I planned to get some work done this morning to clear my afternoon.
Back from a two-week vacation and I can't focus on work at all.
I have a meeting in 10 minutes if they come out with 9 minutes stoppage time again I have decisions to make...

Aha the ref didn't want 3C's to miss that meeting

Another one at 11; hopefully it won't be like this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_6p4Nu4N5ns

Tradition I think, it is how it has always been done.

There is also an enormous fear that if you stop the clock, in come the commercials.

Thanks...first comment is what I thought. The second is a legit concern though and the best reason I've heard....hahahaha.

Took a half day last Monday and I'm taking a full day tomorrow. (may end up working in the morning anyway, but with Tuesday being a core "in-office" day I just wanted to set expectations that I wouldn't be in at all)

May try to squeeze in a round of golf in the morning but that seems unlikely.
