This sounds crazy (and it is) but Germany should fire one in their own net as a warning to Spain to score.

Allow me to indulge a sec since its halftime.

Grew up with the game like many of you in here. Several I played with back then are still GBs. When the schedule started coming out, we planned a trip to Vegas this weekend to get together but also in hopes that the US would advance.

7am will come early in Vegas time Saturday but should be a heck of a lot of fun.

If you need a good bar to go to for soccer, let me know.

Sure lets hear it. We are running into a few roadblocks with this given the start time.

I was in Vegas in 2002 and encountered similar issues trying to watch the US v. Germany with the Asian start times. I'm sure Vegas has evolved in 20 years with the popularity of soccer but we couldn't find a bar and watched in our hotel room. Definitely plan ahead.

I don't think so. They both would have 4 points, but Spain has a big GD lead.

Now Spain would be out with a CR goal as they would have 6 pts to Spain's 4. Spain needs to get back ahead to ensure a CR goal doesn't knock them out.

I asked a Mexican friend if he was disappointed that they didn't advance and surprisingly, he said no. They didn't field the best team, they were too old and made questionable coaching decisions. He said there are fantastic young players who don't get to the national level because they can't afford to pay (really?--you have to pay to be considered?). And then he said all the positions are well paid so there's corruption to keep coaches/players/admin for longer than they should. FWIW, he's 42 and played at a high level against many former national team players so he should know what he's talking about.
