There were plenty of other DT’s IMO and we took a guy with high risk for injury (out of shape not in NFL shape at all) and weight issues. We desperately needed a top shelf DB….but we have so many holes….where do we want to begin?

Repost from the update I put in the other thread. I'll add to that i was able to talk to Shefter and Shrager for about 5 seconds each which was pretty cool. Spent a little time at the Mcafee set which was pretty fun. Got a fist bump from Mad Mel Otherwise we were in the sea of humanity and it was great. Everyone was cool and being in it with the fans of my team was awesome.

Phew, long day, long night but a great time. Awesome atmosphere and for 205k people there was a decent amount of room, easy to access bathrooms, little traffic, and the usual Packer game parking worked great. Green Bay and the NFL hit this out of the park. Standing for 9hrs kicked my *** and I'll be sore and tired for a few days, but well worth it. And it was topped off with a shiny new receiver for the Packers. Good times!!

Buffalo: "B", Hairston was a 2nd round grade but they must have had him higher on their board. Wasn't much hesitation, they wanted him.
I think it was a little high but he fits the right mold for them. I would think he is going to be a starting RCB there quickly, pick No 30, good move for the Bills.

Taking a nap then watching the replay to get caught up. The one downside was not being able to keep up with the picks and trades. Nothing seemed overly crazy and I was glad to see NFL GMs see that Sanders isn't worth a first. I'll double down on my previous statements that he's not the guy you want as your QB 1.

I swear I love the draft but get nothing but a steady stream of bad fantasy beats every year.

Have been absolutely loading up on Legette and Wicks lately.

Just last night jumped in a FFPC Big Gorilla($350) to try and get ahead of potential "value" changes and drafted Hampton, Legette and Wicks.

Out of that group I think Hampton got stung the hardest.

Hampton will be the RB1 in Los Angeles quickly
Harris is on a 1 year deal for about $5M? That doesn't sound like a major obstacle

I like the optimism but I think Najee's going to eat up a lot of downs.

Also not for nothing but have not drafted Najee this year but have him in two dynasty teams but he's hard to play without volume. My thinking is the downs he eats up is more just getting in Hampton's way then doing anything for him.

I think it is a rinse and repeat pattern that we've seen for a long time. The vet will get early season emphasis while the rookie is given the opportunity to take over and may very well do so by midseason. It's possible Najee is an ADP value for the beginning of the season and Hampton becomes an ADP value to hold. Hampton was seemingly already maxed out on ADP though, seems like nowhere to go but down. I was avoiding him in redrafts/BB and a couple Big Gorillas because of his price but is it actually going to climb now or hold steady or what. I wonder what the crowd thinks of this.

I really didn't expect as much Najee love as I assumed the consensus was that he was brought in on an average at best FA deal and that at worst they would take a RB in the 2nd/3rd round. I definitely love the landing spot but if his ADP goes up I'm likely still out for this year.

For reference to folks, Hampton has been going early to mid 3rd round of redrafts prior to yesterday. Ones I've seen anyway.

I was really hoping the Packers were going to take Will Johnson. Obviously there's something wrong for him to fall out of the first with his talent, so the injury has to be a pretty big concern. Was also hoping for Egbuka before he was picked, but I don't hate the Golden pick at all. This guys got the tools to make a difference. Can't wait for more drafting tonight.

Yeah well his ADP from this moment moving forward is the question I'm curious, but there are 10s of thousands of best ball leagues drafted already, and the ADP matches. That's mainstream not just a few FF heads. BestBall is huge this time of year. *I'm* not taking Hampton that early just saying it's a legit trend not an obscure bubble.

Yup, it's awesome, no place like it. They had the lower level open and a few vendors with food inside. They had the red carpet thing going on for the invites on the field, but only let in a small amount of people to watch. Definitely agree it was nice for people that have never been there before to go in and see the field. And tonight's weather looks iffy, so it'll be a nice way to get out of the wind and cold of needed.

And if I'm being honest after seeing the 200k up close I have very little doubt a few of these folks could wreck a bathroom in very short order. The physiques, the cheese curds, the spotted cow....... lord have mercy on those attendants.

The NFL draft is like an oasis in the middle of the desert. We renew acquaintances with old friends and set our brains abuzz with the heady and heavy ripples of many possible futures collapsing into one reality via names written on cards. The draft is the best part of fantasy football, and some would say the best part of being an NFL fan. How did the first round change the fantasy landscape? Who won and lost on Thursday night?

Fantasy Football Winners​

Travis Hunter (WR-JAX), Trevor Lawrence (QB-JAX) - Before the draft, it felt like a near certainty that Hunter was going to the Browns, and if not Cleveland, then he would be headed to the Giants. Neither team is known for its offensive exploits, especially at quarterback. Enter the Jaguars, with a newly minted Sean McVay tree head coach, Liam Coen, a newly minted general manager who came up with the Rams, James Gladstone, and a former #1 overall pick quarterback who has suffered through the turbulence that follows poor management. Coen's offense has the ability to support two WR1s, so even though Hunter won't be a true alpha with Brian Thomas Jr. already holding that job down, he still has a quicker path to the top end of his range of outcomes that he would have had in Cleveland or New York, and a better chance of sustained success. Lawrence can also hit ceiling scenarios for fantasy like Baker Mayfield did under Coen after the duo revived his career in Los Angeles. Don't think that this makes Thomas a "loser", either. Hunter can keep defenses from focusing attention on Thomas, and again, Coen's Bucs offense produced two WR1s. The Jaguars adding an impact offensive player and clarity in the price they were willing to pay should only increase optimism that this offseason of hiring and alignment between front office and coaching staff will be a slump buster and tune up an underachieving offense. Be ready to invest in whatever running back they pick on the second or third day after Coen favorite Bucky Irving's breakout rookie year in 2024.

Ashton Jeanty (RB-LV) - Pete Carroll has his next Marshawn Lynch. It's hard to say that Las Vegas is decisively a better destination for Jeanty's fantasy prospects than playing for Ben Johnson in Chicago, the team most frequently linked to him before the draft, or Jacksonville, the team that was expected to take him by the indication of most draft day mocks, but this feels too good to leave out of a winners/losers piece. Jeanty should be able to get 25+ carries when the game script calls for it, and the additions of Chip Kelly as coordinator and Geno Smith as quarterback should improve the offense right away. It's wheels up for the dynasty 1.01 pick.

Bryce Young (QB-CAR) - Young gets a top wide receiver who fills a hole in the Panthers' offensive blueprint. Tetairoa McMillan gives Young a big target downfield who can be dangerous after the catch and helps Xavier Legette and Jalen Coker get in their more natural roles, as Dave Kluge pointed out on our first-round stream. Young pulled off a stunning midseason career u-turn, and GM Dan Morgan/HC Dave Canales are building around him now. This pick was a small surprise, as mocks had the Panthers taking Georgia EDGE/LB Jalon Walker, who fell to the Falcons at pick #15.

Colston Loveland (TE-CHI), Caleb Williams (QB-CHI) - Loveland lands on a team with a rising star offensive mind at head coach and a talented #1 overall pick at quarterback. We saw what Ben Johnson did with Sam LaPorta from day one in Detroit. Cole Kmet is good enough to make two tight end sets the default for this team, but as Matt Waldman, Alfredo Brown, and Jeff Bell both pointed out on the first-round stream, Loveland can also line up in the slot, replacing Keenan Allen. Loveland is also a good blocking tight end and should elevate both phases of the offense. We should be bullish on the Bears offense and Williams after the offensive line got a lot of attention earlier in the offseason and the addition of a player who upgrades both their blocking and their passing game. Adding Jeanty would have also helped Williams, but perhaps not as directly on the stat sheet as Loveland will.

Baker Mayfield (QB-TB), Bucky Irving (RB-TB) - Mayfield has to be loving Jason Licht for adding another offensive piece. It might seem gratuitous, but it shouldn't have been too big of a surprise, as the idea that the Bucs were open to taking another wide receiver in the first was out there for a while. Mayfield's value should be better able to persist through wide receiver injuries after it got bogged down for a bit last year when Mike Evans and Chris Godwin missed time. Irving will enjoy this pick when he sees Egbuka putting a hat on a hat in the running game and helping him spring even more long runs. Making strengths stronger is the way.

Jordan Love (QB-GB) - Ah, the irony as the Packers' first first-round wide receiver since Javon Walker in 2002 did not come during the Aaron Rodgers era. This might not greatly enhance Love's value, but it was on thin ice after Christian Watson suffered a knee injury that could take two years for him to come back from fully. #23 pick Texas WR Matthew Golden provides the same field-stretching speed that Watson did to keep defenses stretched out and hopefully will keep the pass offense viable after it bogged down after Watson's injury.

Patrick Mahomes II (QB-KC) - The last time we saw Mahomes, he was getting pummeled behind an offensive line that had a hole at guard because it had a hole at left tackle. At #32, after trading down one spot to add pick #164 from Philadelphia, they got Ohio State OT Josh Simmons, who many had as the top tackle in this class before he tore a patellar tendon in his knee last year. The Chiefs may not have Simmons at the beginning of the season, but long-term, this could be a big plus for Mahomes as he continues to express a desire to rekindle downfield passing fireworks in a sometimes morose offense. Both Super Bowl teams wisely used their first-round picks to add players who could have been top 10 picks if they hadn't come into the draft injured. Philadelphia took Alabama LB/EDGE Jihaad Campbell at #31. He may start the season on the PUP list after offseason shoulder surgery.

Fantasy Football Losers​

Tyler Warren (TE-IND) - Shane Steichen called his shot. He declared his desire to add a three-down tight end and got one, but we shouldn't expect big fantasy results from this marriage. The Colts have a pair of middling to poor passing quarterbacks, a great running back who makes Warren's short-yardage running prowess less relevant, and a generally poor track record of creating value in young passing game pieces, such as Josh Downs and Michael Pittman Jr., over the past few years. Warren going off the board as TE2 also might have hurt the perception of his ceiling and dynasty value, although it's probably the correct order.

Jalen McMillan (WR-TB) - McMillan played well as a rookie, and before Chris Godwin was signed, he was potentially on his way to being a WR2 in a top-end pass offense. Godwin came back, and then the team took Ohio State WR Emeka Egbuka at #19. McMillan is going to have trouble getting enough consistent targets to matter in redraft leagues without an injury to Mike Evans or Chris Godwin, which happened to each of them last year. Egbuka's presence probably lowers McMillan's long-term ceiling as well. That being said, dynasty players will probably overreact, so he's a buy-low candidate.

Najee Harris (RB-LAC) - Harris had a chance to parlay his one-year contract into a second, more lucrative deal with a big year behind a solid line on a team that likes to run. Now with Omarion Hampton added via the #22 pick, Harris will have much better competition for carries than Kimani Vidal and Hassan Haskins represent, and teams generally err on the side of getting first-round picks on the field. Harris is going to take a big hit in best-ball drafts and is probably available for a song in dynasty leagues if you've been coveting him from afar.

Jaxson Dart (QB-NYG), Malik Nabers (WR-NYG) - More than one mock had the Giants trading back into the first round for Dart, and they were right. Dart is the kind of quarterback prospect you want to sit for a redshirt year before starting him in the NFL, but the problem is that head coach Brian Daboll, who stumped for Dart, might not be on the staff next year. Dart could be inherited by a regime that didn't pick him, and the Giants appear to be stuck in a stretch of terrible management that creates inherent instability and more floor than ceiling outcomes for players. This is hell compared to the heaven that landing with the Rams would have been. Nabers is going to have trouble climbing to his peak with Dart, who is a poor passer more than 25 yards downfield, per Matt Waldman. Dart's presence probably means that he'll either be the best quarterback Nabers plays with on his rookie deal or that Brian Daboll will be fired in the next year or two, and Nabers will have to endure more instability. The Giants were reportedly willing to give up their 2026 first-round pick and more to the Titans so they could take Cam Ward #1, which would have been much better for Nabers (and possibly the Titans).

Dallas "C-/D+" - Tyler Booker OG, Alabama...always risky taking a Guard in the Top 10-12 picks and Dallas decided to rebuild their OL, all good intentions.
Booker grades out in some circles as a 2nd round prospect and gets knocked around surprisingly more often than he should. Some of this could just be knit picky
He's likely better than anything they have right now, good blocking elevates the QB and the entire offense.
But he's not a sure fire hit and Dallas invested a very high pick at a position many teams want to try and fill in the 3rd-6th rounds.

Good luck to the Cowboys, nothing personal but I didn't see this as a move that is going to put them in contention for the Division this season

Not sure I would describe the Malik Nabers situation as "Loser" but I understand why some, perhaps well over 50% of folks think Dart is a negative for Nabers right now
I think the combo now of Russ and Dart ensure that Nabers will get a steady diet of targets and even if they aren't 50 yds down the field, he can turn them into long gains.
All NFL QBs can throw the football 30-40 yds down the field, most pass plays are not designed having the QB bomb it 50 yds

If Dart can throw some darts down the field 15-20 yds and Nabers can get separation which he can, Malik is going to catch a lot of footballs.
Giants need to add a dynamic RB to add to their stable and expand the offense, help the passing game out
I expect them to draft a RB tonight or tomorrow by about the 5th round, this class is deep

I used the stadium bathrooms and one regular port a potty on the way in, but there was a large row of very nice looking port a potties on the east side of the stadium that might have been what you had in KC. There were attendants everywhere keeping things nice and clean on the outside.

Back on point, the Texans are in a terrific spot tonight to make some major changes to their team. Should they burn 2 of these on their OL?
I hope they think about Burden at WR and bring him in to give S\CJS the tools he needs to succeed.

I'm sure Texans fans have abetter idea of needs for the team. OL/DL, they can still get some quality beef at DT if they choose that route although 58 might be a better spot.

I really didn't expect as much Najee love as I assumed the consensus was that he was brought in on an average at best FA deal and that at worst they would take a RB in the 2nd/3rd round.

I was a little surprised how high Najee was going before the NFL draft as another RB was surely coming but I think people over inflate the importance of money in the valuation of the player(the market is the market and while not a ton it's also not backup RB money) and I thought for sure there was a chance they don't take a RB until much later and maybe more of a speed/third down role. Like I think I said I have not drafted him, but I did turn down a few late and future seconds for him in a dynasty league I have him because I thought he had a strong chance to be a solid RB2/3, to have more value then he's had since his rookie year.

The vet will get early season emphasis while the rookie is given the opportunity to take over and may very well do so by midseason.

Maybe, not counting on it tbh. They knew what Najee was when they signed him and one reason I shied away from Warren over the years as a high end handcuff was that Najee never misses a game.

For reference to folks, Hampton has been going early to mid 3rd round of redrafts prior to yesterday. Ones I've seen anyway.

I took him at 3.6 in the Big Gorilla the night before the draft. Whole reason I did the draft that night was to take shots on players whose value can change. There are spots he could have been a borderline first round guy. Looks like I lost that gamble. Went nuts on rookie RB's though and if a few more hit I'll be alright. I still believe in the approach of trying to get ahead of the curve sometimes and always understand it won't work out but when trying to beat out 15K plus teams I'll take some shots.


Anyway great long term future for Hampton though I'm not sure he'll end up as my RB2. Najee probably hitting the FA trail again next off-season.

I kinda think if the Colts went QB, they'd be the Sanders team. Someone who is very different to the guys they have.

I think the Browns would be a Milroe team (or not at all given the 2026 1st they picked up)

I think the Saints are waiting for Shough in round 3, though Milroe could make sense, that's probably putting together to much of a Moore/Hurts style link.

Seattle feels more like a Milroe team, especially given their HC knows 1st hand how dangerous a QB with elite mobility can be.

Raiders feel unlikely to take a QB highly. Maybe round 4 Will Howard to appease Chip Kelly? They still have O'Connell too.

Rams feel unlikely to take a guy this year given that extra 2026 1st now. They also have a top backup in Jimmy G.

Dolphins feel like a sneaky team. I would think Sanders would be their top guy.

Jets could be in play, but I think they'd be a Milroe team, as Aaron Glenn (and maybe I'm projecting Campbell traits to Glenn) may value character higher than most.

Steelers don't pick until round 3. I think they could be on board for anyone, though I feel like they may not love anyone. I'm wondering if they might end up being the Cousins team if Rodgers doesn't work out.

Dallas "C-/D+" - Tyler Booker OG, Alabama...always risky taking a Guard in the Top 10-12 picks and Dallas decided to rebuild their OL, all good intentions.
Booker grades out in some circles as a 2nd round prospect and gets knocked around surprisingly more often than he should. Some of this could just be knit picky
He's likely better than anything they have right now, good blocking elevates the QB and the entire offense.
But he's not a sure fire hit and Dallas invested a very high pick at a position many teams want to try and fill in the 3rd-6th rounds.

Good luck to the Cowboys, nothing personal but I didn't see this as a move that is going to put them in contention for the Division this season

Fully agree, the Booker pick was an exercise in grossly overcompensating for one's needs regardless of value. Its the 2nd worst pick of round 1 in my opinion, behind their fellow NFC East team:

I think this Jaxson Dart pick is gonna end up being the worst pick of the draft. I'll explain why, because its not just about Dart. Dart is a raw QB from a gimmicky offense who they traded up for (raising expectations) with a lame duck GM/HC. So unless the Giants greatly exceed expectations, and I think that means make the playoffs, I think Scheon/Daboll are both gone. So what are the chances a new GM/HC are gonna wanna attach their jobs on a raw prospect QB, who they didn't even draft?

This was an awful pick, and maybe the worst possible landing spot for Dart. He's probably the #3 QB this year, and if he does play, he's likely greatly overmatched, which only hurts him more, and then the Giants are likely to start the entire process over again. I think the Giants basically just set their 2nd and 3rd round picks on fire. They shouldn't have taken a QB at all.

Definitely would like another TE. Schulz is just a horrible blocker. While WR is still in flux with Tank Dell out though, definitely need TEs who can contribute in both the passing game and in protection and run blocking.

I don't know if there's an OL worth taking at 34. Was just putting more in the Texans thread that I think I'd probably look to trade back at least a little ways. Jeremiah's and ESPN's ranking have their best guard and best tackle in the mid 40s (and they disagree on them by a dozen spots in the rankings or more). I'd probably trade back if I can, if not go with just the true BPA pretty much regardless of position.

Yeah Henderson to Denver might do it. They pick at 51 though and I'm not sure he'll last past Chicago twice, Dallas or even a dark horse like Cleveland twice or Tennessee. But they can probably also just stay put and let another solid back fall to them.

Calling my shot I think Cleveland wants a back but is happy to keep falling back and will trade pick 33 or 36 right off the bat to Denver or Dallas. I don't think Chicago needs it that badly. And I do think Henderson is in a remaining tier of RBs by himself so he *might* be considered a prize right now. I don't think Judkins or Skattebo or Johnson are going until round 3 or 4. If there is a surprise tonight it will be Harvey, Sampson, Brooks or maybe Tuten. I think that after Henderson teams will be happy to let backs fall to them.

I don't have a feel for what Baltimore will do in regards to specific players tonight, but I expect it'll be from the OL/DL/Edge/CB buckets. They are not afraid to double-dip, either.

The more I think about the Starks pick in Round #1, the more I like it. That's not me trying to talk myself into it. I really believe a Starks/Hamilton/Washington/Wiggins/Humphrey defensive backfield is multi-dimensional and is going to be a handful for opposing players (except for Jamar Chase, who will always get 400 yards a game against the Ravens until he's 85 years old - it may drop to 300/game when he turns 86).

I mean, there was an embarrassment of riches laying there for Baltimore, Detroit, Washington, Philly, and KC at the end of RD 1. And some of the really good players in that pile are still on the board. It'll be interesting to see if any of those teams try to move up and grab one.

why move up when the good players will just fall to you? the rich get richer. But yeah it depends on how deep all their boards go here with rd 2 talent
