The opening game in on ESPN in less than an hour and they don't have a pregame show on. Everything else they would have plenty of pregame action.

ESPN is so nakedly craven that it almost beggars belief. Until I consider how ESPN has acted consistently and willingly many other times. Then I'm not surprised.

Turned on ESPN to hear them wax on and on about Aaron Rodgers. NOBODY CARES!

What did Stephen A. Smith say about it? I'm rapt.

And, oh yeah, ESPN and MLB have some issues. Uh . . . no doubt. I doubt you'll see much other than the obligatory coverage of baseball. Just like when they didn't have hockey rights and the sport didn't exist anymore.

I ****ing hate ESPN. Sorry for the language, but thinking about them makes me a bit angry.

I didn't recognize one person on the set but I muted things immediately when they began talking about Kenny Pickett.

Opening Day in Major League Baseball and 20 minutes before first pitch in New York and the talk is about a 3rd string QB that wears two gloves because he has hands the size of a kitten and throws with the velocity of Rascal Scooter.

They had Nascar for a while and there were 3 or 4 daily shows about it. They'd lead Sports Center with the race. Once they dropped/lost it, any coverage disappeared. I'm not a Nascar follower, but it was so obvious.

That they ever blurred the lines between “sports news” and nakedly promoting their own programming should damn them to a spot in at least purgatory (there are a lot of weighty and important sports news items that have a tremendous impact on our world), but then I think of everything else about ESPN and that’s so far from the worst of it that it defies easy words.

But forget that, this is baseball day. Happy opening day! The mediocre Red Sox take on the Rangers in half an hour and I’ll be in the Shark Pool, Rob Manfred and John Henry. How’s your league and team lookin’, fellas? That money dries up quick by the time Gen X gets old, doesn’t it?

Ah, forget that. Happy day!

Possible rainouts today: Cle at KC, SF at CIN and Min at STL. Not so nice in the midwest in March. Who could have seen that coming?

MLB - SCHEDULE YOUR EARLY SEASON GAMES ON THE WEST COAST AND THE SOUTH!!!

Why is this so hard?
or in domed stadiums
The response given from warm weather/domed teams is that they will either have to always end the season on the road or plod through a ridiculously long road trip somewhere in the middle to balance the schedule out.

Either way, they see it as an unfair competitive advantage for the other teams. If they are fighting for a playoff spot and have to spend the last week on the road or spend eighteen days on the road in July, that is a serious disadvantage.

I think he could. I don't know what the hell happened to him the 2nd half last season. Hopefully, he's got it worked out because they need him.

Have to imagine the position just wears the body down, especially a young body that's acclimating to the majors still.

How many guys in the world have hit a 449ft HR and kicked a 60+ yard field goal?

ESPN blows….the worst. A shadow of what it was 25 years ago.

Yeah it’s been a long time since it was really good.

I was using the app to check stats in other than my local games. It was working but now the app just crashes.

Great job MLB

Rain should be gone here in St Louis by game time.
I was wrong. Caused a rain delay. They are supposed to start in about 15min at 4:45 CT. So, about a 90min delay.

lol Yankees getting a great first look at their new reliever against his old team to start the season today. 4-1 lead in the bottom of the ninth and Williams has loaded the bases with no outs. Get used to it Yankees fans.

That’s Super Bowl Champion Kenny Pickett to you.

Wilyer Abreu hit two home runs for the Red Sox as they win 5-2 in Texas. 3-3 with a walk, 2HR, 4RBI. Went solo in the fifth to make it 2-2 and then hit a three-run HR in the ninth with one out and runners on first and third.

Wait until they go home to Fenway in April when it's nice and frigid.

On the heels of this rant...they then follow up opening day with a limited schedule of games. You have everyone excited for opening day and then half of teams are off on day 2.

Dumb.

Opening day in Cincinnati was awesome as always. My buddy and I committed to never missing another one. Game was good until 9th inning. Not sure this Francona guy knows how to manage the bullpen.
You are correct, leaves his starters in way too long

Signed,

Cleveland Fan

As both OH teams will attest, it could be 70 & beautiful or 20 & a blizzard. Aside from the obvious money grab, never understood the early season scheduling of games in the MW.

Because the stupid players in the last CBA wanted more days off so they have to start earlier now to accommodate that.

We do get a riveting Rays/Rocks game at 1pm today, so there's.......that.

Think I'm going to take the OVER in every Oriole's game the next few weeks. Especially when they play teams like Toronto.

Mookie looks frail. I hope he is over whatever it was that got him so sick.
Thought the exact same thing watching him run out. He was already a slight dude but losing 15 lbs. in the matter of a week will really do a number on a guy.
Thought the same when he came up to bat on Tuesday vs the Angels. Everyone looks tiny following Ohtani, but Betts looked bad. He didn't look strong in his swing but his running and fielding looked fine.
