Red Sox overs, man...

Also, every time I think I'd like to catch a game so far this year, the only game available is the dammed Yankees. ugh. Wish we could go back to Ted Turner putting his Braves on TBS for every game.
MLB.tv is the way to go.
i wish someone here would sell mlb.tv at a discount for fbgs……

Yeah I'm not nearly enough of a fan to pay for anything extra. Would just like to have a game on in the background or bet on one here and there - without it being just one or two teams always highlighted.

Twins pitching looking decent. Year 2 of attempting to get back into baseball a bit after like a 30 year layoff. Man I'm old. Is it too early to trade for some hitters?
They have looked good but half the games were against the Royals. Not sure you can count those games
Even as a Twins fan I had to :lmao:at this. I like what they did with the pitching staff to make this team competitive, but I think this team is probably next year or year after as far as truly competing. There is just so much youth and unknown with the lineup, that a few breaks one way or the other could make for a 90 win team or a 70 win team.

It is great. I did not take advantage of your offer because I have a T-Mobile phone and able to get through that. Definitely would have otherwise. Probably enjoy the radio that it comes with more than the TV component — putting a ballgame on the earbuds and going for a run in the evening.

After watching a week of baseball if anyone is still against the pitch clock they are a grumpy old man (GET OFF MY LAWN!). Watching multiple games, these games have been a joy to watch. Dare I say they could almost slow it down some (Granted it was a 1-0 game, but the Min/Mia game lasted less than 2 hours!). It has been very enjoyable and fun to watch again.

Apparently there was a strike called on a batter because the runner on first did not get back quick enough after a foul ball. They really want to speed up things.

Agree, I think they need to tweak a couple things but overall more enjoyable

I was just coming in here to say I found the one person that is not on board with the pitch count: my Dad. He calls me yesterday, which he never really does (lets my stepmom handle communication) and says " have you watched any baseball?" Then goes off how the pitchers are going to get worn out from having to pitch faster, how the game doesn't breath like it use to, how the announcers can't get their stories in, and he just doesn't think this faster game is for him. I mean how can someone at the game go and get a beer and nachos now and not miss a third of the game?? I was floored.

I think they need to get rid of the disengagement rule but I was pleasantly surprised with the pace of play with the pitch clock. i didn't think it would make a noticeable difference but it definitely has changed the overall pace of play. I think it might be a little too fast at times and wouldn't mind an increase of 5 seconds to the clock so everything doesn't seem rushed but maintains a solid pace. Right now there are times where the game seems rushed but that could also be the implementation and when the clock starts. I could see rather than adding a few seconds to the clock they change when it gets started and that would accomplish the same thing.

That happened during Mets game. MLB came out and said it shouldve been a warning and not a strike.

This is a legit point. Concession sales gotta be down

I suggested adding 5 seconds to the clock in the 7th-9th innings (and extras).

i think the clock should get shorter every inning that would really make things exciting if you got to to like the 7 or 8th extra frame it would have to be like the ball got back to the pitcher and he has about 2 seconds to throw again guys just full out sprinting and sliding back to a base after a foul ball relief pitchers in a full out sprint in from the pen man it would be sweet take that to the bank bromigos

A’s outdrawn by 11 Triple A teams

Wth is going on? Why doesn’t the owner just sell if he’s not interested in fielding a decent team?
Can confirm as a 42 year old A's fan who used to go to 20+ games per year (and i love the charm and memories in the Coliseum) all of my family and friends are actively not going to games because of the owner.

I agree. Don't mind it all watching games on the TV. However, I will say the clock behind the batter is very distracting when watching a game live at the park. I was sitting along first base line near the outfield. Going to a game is usually a relaxing time for me, but I felt on edge the whole time with the countdown. It's too difficult not to look at. I guess I'll need to sit closer to home plate.

Facing a moral quandary.

Prior to season, I was pretty adamant that I wouldn't buy a tickets to a single Brewers game this year as a personal protest of sorts against Mark Attanasio giving away Josh Hader last season and for basically just being cheap and refusing to ever really go "all-in" and try to win a championship.

But now the team is 5-1 despite Yelich and Corbin Burnes sucking balls, and these young guys (Mitchell/Turang/Wiemer) are super fun to watch. Trying to stand firm, but it's getting harder by the day!
Just don't sprain your ankle jumping on and off the bandwagon

A couple of takes from the Chicago games yesterday.

- the Cubs are totally pitching and defense.
- the White Sox won a game they wouldn’t have last season.
But they still made stupid mistakes and frankly were lucky to win.
Sox? Probably true, but they may have improved 5-10 games with a competent manager. they have too much talent to underachieve, but they have to stay healthy also.
That's what everyone is saying and thinking...but again, if you watched the game and the mistakes...they were identical to last year. Cease was magical for the innings he pitched and the bull pen looks good.
Unfortunately they are not going anywhere with Lynn and Giolito tanking. Is Lynn done?

It was Pete Alonzo I believe. I didn’t know this could happen.

Went to the twins game yesterday and it was very enjoyable. We sat behind the 1st base dugout so the pitch clock was not a distraction at all. I could see it in the outfield but it was out of my direct line of sight. The game was much more fast paced with a lot more action. My wife who is a baseball fan, but did not enjoy going to games because she said it was way too slow compared to the high school level even enjoyed it. From the start of the first pitch until we were back at our hotel was exactly 3 hours. Last year the game wouldn't have even been over in 3 hours.

Here is an interesting article on the target for MLB with these faster pace games that don't take as long. Twins games offer younger spirit, stronger pull for fans at Target Field

Historic start.

Save me the bad teams argument. Your favorite team plays bad teams too.
Not as often as Tampa has to start the season. With that said, they are the best team in baseball. Great management, good all around hitting and phenomenal pitching. Wait until they get Glasnow back. Yeesh - talk about an embarrassment of riches. And they completely built the team the “right” way.

Or put each team on one of those speed chess clocks. Wanna save some time so your relief pitchers can scratch their balls between pitches? Quit throwing 4 sliders in the dirt every AB and pump in some strikes.

The Rays are obviously a good team but their record is indicative of the teams they are facing. However, even good teams lose to bad teams which makes their start incredible. I just dont think they are as good as their record (probably an obvious statement).

Those other teams are 13-16 when not facing the rays. This is a really silly narrative.

Well Im not really counting the Red Sox. They are certainly better than the other 3 teams but those other 3 teams are the worst 3 teams in baseball.

Pretty clear they are the best team of all time and going 162-0.
