I read your previous post, and this looks like a decent team. I mocked it too at FFC and surprisingly got D-Will in the 3rd also.I'd be worried about that happening in a real draft though. If he's not there...we're looking at Pierre Thomas, Beanie Wells, etc. Not too comfortable with that.I like waiting for RB2...I'm just too hung up on getting 1 of my top 6 RB (Tier 1 for me) to do the WR-WR.

Mocks and real are different realities imo. In the past I have held onto mocks too much during prep, and got hurt doing so because my list of expected players in say, the third, would be gone - then do I reach? I may have zigged in round two as opposed to zagged because I "knew" on of a tier of RBs, for example, would be available in the third - then they were not.Personally, I see NO way DWill lasts until the mid third in most drafts/most formats - but this is where your league rules and owner tendencies come into play.

Recently finished a draft from the #6 spot in a non-PPR 12 team league..

QB: Eli Manning, Matt Ryan

RB: Frank Gore, Jahvid Best, Ahman Bradshaw, Marion Barber

WR: Miles Austin, DeSean Jackson, Michael Crabtree, Lee Evans, Jabar Gaffney

TE: Jermichael Finley

K: Garret Hartley

D: Bengals Defense

Pretty happy with the way the picks fell, my team is pretty young though and could be boom or bust.

I also just finished a draft from the 6 spot. Mine was in a PPR league though.

QB: Rodgers, Sanchez

RB: Gore, Wells, Carnell Williams, Michael Bush, Sproles, Leon Washington

WR: Colston, Nicks, Owens, Mike Williams (TB), Avery

TE: Gonzalez

K: Akers

D: Jets

Pretty stoked on my team.

7th spot draft not completed, 12 team redraft PPR money league

Frank Gore

Larry Fitzgerald

Tony Romo

Jahvid Best

Finley

Michael Crabtree

AJ went one before so 6th spot

Theres no way Dewill will fall to the 6 spot in the third. If for some reason he makes it out of the 2nd(Highly doubt it) he's coming coming back down from 1-5 where the big 4 RB's went. Noone will pass on Dewill pairing with AP, CJ2K, MJD, RICE.. That would be sick. Too much TE depth, and best QB in the 4th makes this team a favorite.

In my 12 team PPR w/ 6 point TDs.... I know I'll get AJ in the first. Then QB/WR in the 2nd and WR/QB in the 3rd. Looking to get AJ and another top 15 WR paired with a top3 or top 6 QB. Then I'll draft RBs throughout the 4-7th and play that game.

I'm with you...but here's the thing I'm struggling with. Turner (on my cheatsheet) is very clearly the END of the top RB tier....so theoretically I should go AJ instead of catching the end of a run. But....the drop from Turner to RB7 is big on my list. And the WR are grouped more closely, with the top 7 within 25-ish points. So it actually seems like in this case it'd be better to grab a Tier 1 RB and WR in the 2nd...even though I'm not getting out in front of runs.
I'm actually struggling with that choice...Turner or Johnson. Even though WRs get .5 PPR in my league, we only have to start 1RB and I'm really not sold on the RBs available in the 2nd and beyond. I know Dre is a stud, but I think the WRs available later are safer than the RBs that will be. This is a good thread BTW. Very helpful.

6th pick, 12 NON PPR, 1QB, 2RB, 3WR, etc.

1. Andre Johnson

-Gore was there, but I decided to try AJ for once. I haven't liked how my WR corps has turned out when I draft Gore, and we have to start 3 so they're important.

2-Roddy White

3-Jamaal Charles

-Rounds 2 and 3 did not go as expected. A lot of RBs went at the 1/2 turn [Mathews, Grant, Mendenhall, DWill], and a ton of WRs went on the 2/3 turn [Marshall, Fitz, DJax, Colson, Welker, Boldin, SSmith, Jennings]. I think I got the best of both worlds here. Another elite WR fell to me in the 2nd, and a bunch of quality RBs fell to me in the 3rd. I could've had Shonn Greene, Pierre Thomas, Lesean McCoy. CBenson went right before me. I decided to swing for the fences and take Jamaal Charles. If he hits like he's capable, this is a powerful lineup.

4-Tom Brady

-Huge run on RBs after I selected Charles--Pierre Thomas, Greene, C Wells, Forte, JStew, Best, Ronnie Brown.

-I was looking to get Best, Crabtree, or Steve Smith (NYG) here but they were all selected before me.

-somehow Tom Brady and Romo were still on the board. I flipped a coin and took Brady. Really would've liked either one in the 4th round. I think that's a steal.

5-Arian Foster

6-Donald Driver

7-Marion Barber

8-Clinton Portis

-I was really hoping Addai would fall to me in the 5th, but he didn't. Lesean McCoy went soon after.

-A bunch of depth picks. I flirted with taking a TE in every round from 5-8, but couldn't pull the trigger.

-Hakeem Nicks was picked right before my 5th round pick. I was ready to click the button too.

-I feel like barber is a good pick in the 7th

9-Owen Daniels

10-Lee Evans

11-Mike Williams (TB)

12-Leon Washington

-Couple depth picks, couple lottery tickets.

-I'm cutting out all the kicker/def picks

QB-Tom Brady

RB-Jamaal Charles, Arian Foster, Marion Barber, Clinton Portis, Leon Washington

WR-Andre Johnson, Roddy White, Donald Driver, Lee Evans, Mike Williams (TB)

TE-Owen Daniels

K-whatever

DEF-whatever

I feel this team can do some damage.

So much of this depends on your draft and how the runs go. There seems to be quite a bit of disparity this year among drafts.

12-team non-PPR league: I was planning on taking Turner, but shockingly, Ray Rice dropped to me. First five picks were CJ, AP, MJD, Brees and Andre Johnson. Crazy enough, five QBs went in the 1st round -- seven QBs before I could make my pick in the third round -- so I wound up waiting forever on QB. Too long, obviously, since I wound up with Eli -- and no backup (drafting only one QB was part of my plan, however. I wanted to load up on RB/WR depth.)

1. Ray Rice

2. Reggie Wayne (Brady was still available. So was Deangelo, Miles Austin and Megatron. I wanted a dependable, elite WR.)

3. Rashard Mendenhall (Had planned to take another elite WR, but I couldn't pass on the opportunity to have a clear starting RB as my RB2.)

4. Steve Smith (Carolina)

5. Sims-Walker

6. Ahmad Bradshaw (value?)

7. Justin Forsett (flyer)

8. Santana Moss

9. Eli Manning (I was freaking out about QB situation by this time. I was very lucky to get Eli here as owner before me was talking about taking Eli as his backup that round. Absolutely no solid QBs remaining otherwise.)

10. Zach Miller

11. Donald Brown

12. Hartley

13. Buckhalter

14. Titans

15. Javon Ringer

So ....

QB: Eli

RB: Ray Rice, Mendenhall, Bradshaw, Forsett, Donald Brown, Buckhalter, Javon Ringer

WR: Wayne, Steve Smith (Car), Sims-Walker, Santana Moss

TE: Zach Miller

K: Hartley

Def: Titans

Had my $100 entry draft tonight from the 6-spot. NON-PPR, 1qb,2rb,3wr

1.06. Andre Johnson

-Really thought about Frank Gore here. Like, 5 seconds were left on the clock before I took AJ. I just knew that if I took Gore, I wouldn't get an elite WR on the way back. They go really fast in my league (3WR). I would rather have AJ+DWill/Mendy than Frank Gore+DJax(?).

2.07. Rashard Mendenhall

-DWill went 2 picks before mine, I really thought he'd be there. It's ok, I like him here. Right around his ADP.

3.06. Tony Romo

-QBs went FAST. Manning, Brees, and Rodgers went in the 1st round. Tom Brady went in the 2nd. Schaub went in the 3rd. I love Romo in the middle third.

4.07. Jamaal Charles

-I think I got huge value here. I've seen him go as high as late 2nd, and he's almost definitely gone in the 3rd. I was looking at Lesean McCoy here as well, but just barely missed him.

5.06. Hakeem Nicks

-The WR pool was about to be dry, I had to take one. Plus, Nicks ADP is early 5th.

6.07. Jonathan Stewart

-Huge steal, IMO. ADP of 4.02, I get him at 6.07. I made fun of everyone in my league for letting him be there. All in good fun.

7.06. Jeremy Maclin

-Bit of a reach here I guess. Probably would've been there at 8.07, but I don't know for sure. Still, I like AJ+Nicks+Maclin

8.07. Lee Evans

-needed another WR, most of the RB sleepers were gone here. Was looking at Michael Bush, but he was gone.

9.06. Jerome Harrison

-Lost some value w/ maclin and evans, but I made up for it here I think. Harrison has an ADP of 6.5, I got him 9.6.

10.7. Mike Williams (TB)

-huge reach. don't care. wanted him on my team, and there were just enough sharks in my league that I didn't want to risk not having him on my team.

11.6. Steelers DEF

12.7. Leon Washington

13.6. John Carlson

14.7. Neil Rackers

Got my DEF, TE, and Kicker all on the same BYE (5) so that I don't have to drop anyone on my bench to get new ones.

QB: Tony Romo

RB: Rashard Mendenhall

RB: Jamaal Charles

WR: Andre Johnson

WR: Hakeem Nicks

WR: Jeremy Maclin

TE: John Carlson

K: Rackers

DEF: Steelers

Bench-JStew

Bench-Jerome Harrison

Bench-Mike Williams (TB)

Bench-Lee Evans

Bench-Leon Washington

I'm pleased with this team. I think I got a lot of value out of my #2,3,4,5,6,9 picks.

If Jamaal Charles produces like I think he can, this lineup will be dangerous. In any case, I think I have one of the better teams in the league.

Here's what I ended up with today - 12 team, non-PPR - some sharks, some guppies (one guy didn't know Rice was out!)

01.06 Frank Gore RB

02.07 Miles Austin WR

03.06 Pierre Thomas RB

04.07 Hakeem Nicks WR

05.06 Arian Foster RB

06.07 Hines Ward WR

07.06 Jay Cutler QB

08.07 Donovan McNabb QB

09.06 Cincinnati DEF

10.07 Zach Miller (OAK) TE

11.06 Michael Bush RB

12.07 Bernard Berrian WR

13.06 Jabar Gaffney WR

14.07 David Buehler PK

Some other interesting data. QB's flew off the board early, but I stuck with my value picks 1 to 6, knowing I could grab 2 decent QB's 7/8. I didn't want to wait too long on Foster, passed on Ward and got Foster in 5th and Ward was still available in 6. Passed on Cutler in 6 and grabbed him in 7. I'm extremely happy with this draft.

Just noticed FBG dropped Gore's projected catches by 15 with the signing of Westbrook. I have also noticed, as others have pointed out, that by drafting Gore 5th and a WR in the second you are essentially drafting Gore immediatley after 4 RBs and a WR most likely immediatley after 4 or 5 WR were just picked. I still like Gore a lot as he has a great schedule compared to AJ who has a tougher schedule, but it is tempting to take AJ and then a QB, so you are getting the 1st WR off the board and a top 3 QB of the board. Maybe take RBs in the 3rd and 4th and then be in front of the pack again with a TE in the 4th.I was pretty certain on Gore at 5, but am having second thoughts.I am talking 10 team PPR.
This. Any recent draft results out there?

Draft is coming up this weekend and I'm still totally on the fence on Johnson or Turner/Gore.

Heavily leaning towards Turner though...just have a gut feeling he may end up top 3 Rbs this year...and I'm not convinced Schaub stays healthy all year. Hate to base my decison on Schaub's potential health but he doesn't have the best track record...of course, neither does Turner at this point.

The thing that keeps coming back to me is the 50% turnover in top 20 RBs from year to year. Makes me wonder if grabbing one or two top WRs and then looking for Best/Foster/Addai/Moreno... guys later that may end up top 20 by the end of the year.

My 10-team non-PPR was Sat...all solid owners.

My plan going in was 1 of my top 6 RB in the first, 1 of my top 6 WR in the second, 1 of my top 5 QB in the third, and values from there. First 3 rounds went exactly as I planned...then Marshall, Best, and Nicks fell to give me a boost. The rest after that was almost strictly by adp.

1.06 - MJD (AJ went 1.05, Gore went 1.04...injury rumor on Friday scared them off)

2.05 - Austin (AJ, CJ, Moss, Wayne gone)

3.06 - Romo (Rodgers, Manning, Brees, Brady gone)

4.05 - Marshall

5.06 - Best

6.05 - Addai

7.06 - Nicks

My prep paid off in rounds 4-7...which is what I was hoping for when I decided to start RB-WR-QB.

I simply don't understand playing in a 10 team league. All of the teams must be solid from top to bottom, it really eliminates a lot of pre season work you do because there is someone solid available for the first 5 rounds. I mean, Marshall in the 4th? Addai in the 6th? Nicks in the 7th? And yet you say that are all solid owners?

Yes. A lot of guys this board loves went higher than their current ADP...Spiller, Foster, Bradshaw, Finley, both Steve Smiths, etc. The top 7 QBs went high. And WRs are so lumped together in my rankings, none of the WR taken before Marshall or Nicks were that unreasonable to me.Regardless...the point of my post was my strategy paid off. If I would have gone AJ in the first, the RB run in the late 1st/early 2nd would have hurt. I wasn't sure that would happen. If I would have waited on QB, the QB run in the 3rd would have been forced me to wait until later for my tier 2 guys like Cutler...which was not making me comfortable.

This goes against what ADP and the mocks I've seen are telling me to do. It seems every mock has a WR run in the late 1st, early 2nd round. So, taking a WR in the 1st would give me an advantage and while guys are stacking up on WRs, the RBs will fall to me in round 2. You just never know how it will pan out though.

Here's how I went from 1.06 in a 10 team PPR, excuse the copy/paste:

1.06 Andre Johnson

2.05 Miles Austin

3.06 DeAngelo Williams

4.05 Jamaal Charles

5.06 Tony Romo

6.05 Hines Ward

7.06 Jonathan Stewart

8.05 Malcom Floyd

9.06 Beanie Wells

10.05 Michael Bush

11.06 Chris Cooley

12.05 Kellen Winslow

13.06 Dexter McCluster

14.05 Ravens DST

15.06 Beuhler

16.05 Hasselbeck

We start 1/2/3/1/1/1 no flex. FOUR teams went WR/WR. By the end of round 3, there were 14 WR's gone. More WR's gone than RB's. At one point it was 13 to 8 heh.

This is more of what I've seen. Around 6-7 Rbs tend to go in the first round, 3-4 Wrs, and 1-2 QBs (depending on league size). In the early 2nd I've seen around 4-5 Wrs, 1-2 QBs, and usually 3-4 Rbs before your 2nd pick. This would allow you the 2nd round choice of:QB: #2-4RB: #10-11WR: #10-12So, you're could go with... 1. * the #1 ranked WR in round 1, and the #10 ranked RB in round 2. or 2. * the #5 ranked RB in round 1, and the #10 ranked WR in round 2.Seems like #1 is the better choice when I break it down like this.

Yea...should have given more detail. By "RB run", I meant the only guys I would have wanted in the mid-2nd were taken prior...SJax, Turner, Mendenhall, Matthews, and Deangelo. I would have been terrified of another back as my #1.

10 teams, QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 Flex, TE, K, Def...1/2 PPR.

Round Pick Player Position

1. (6) Frank Gore RB

2. (15) Steven Jackson RB

3. (26) Miles Austin WR

4. (35) Tom Brady QB

5. (46) Matt Forte RB

6. (55) Vernon Davis TE

7. (66) Terrell Owens WR

8. (75) Malcom Floyd WR

9. (86) Jerome Harrison RB

10. (95) Jabar Gaffney WR

11. (106) Clinton Portis RB

12. (115) Lee Evans WR

13. (126) Alex Smith QB

14. (135) Mason Crosby K

15. (146) Brian Westbrook RB

16. (155) Mike Thomas WR

Very pleased to get SJax in the 2nd...

Felt like I was chasing WR's all night. When it got around to me there was nobody of value at that pick. Took a QB and TE sooner than I normally would. Kicker also, but Crosby was my #1 projected kicker and 4 other had been taken, so I snagged him.

Still have to pickup a defense...probably SD. Either drop Thomas, or work a 2 for 1 or 3 for 2 trade before the season starts to free up a spot.

Absolutely HATED picking from this slot this year. No stud RB's available at 1.6 of course, and too much similarity between top 3-4 WR's to go WR in that spot, IMO. It was tough to draft QB at 1.6, but looking back now, I think it actually solidified the rest of my draft, ensuring that I didn't have to play catch-up at every position.

12 team league, PPR, rewards bonuses for players scoring "out of their element" (ie, a QB rushing a TD, a RB catching or passing a TD, etc). 1 QB, 1 RB, 2 WR, 1 RB/WR Flex, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 D/ST

1.6 Aaron Rodgers

2.7 Calvin Johnson

3.6 Wes Welker

4.7 Pierre Thomas

5.6 Hakeem Nicks

6.7 Ronnie Brown (kicking myself now for not taking Spiller here, but RB pickings were pretty slim by this time)

7.6 Jay Cutler

8.7 Jerome Harrison

9.6 Lee Evans

10.7 Steelers D/ST

11.6 Santonio Holmes

12.7 Heath Miller

13.6 Greg Olsen

14.7 Rob Bironas

Very pleased with the RB/WR flex corps, and I probably took Cutler a round before I needed to, but I basically took him as a hedge to trade and strengthen my RB corps in case he has the kind of year that a lot of Martz fans thinks he will. Thought Holmes in the 11th was a steal, and with Roethlisberger out for 4-5 games, I expect H. Miller to be leaned on for the first 4 games or so. Question marks are Nicks (I like him, I know some don't, but PPR makes a big difference), Harrison (pretty much a fill-in anyway, but decent upside), and Evans, who has never seemed to have a good season since those first two years. Overall not displeased with the draft but really felt that my hand was forced many times because I couldn't afford to let some picks slide for value. Tough slot this year.

all were gone by 2.07 in my draft

got the 6th pick in one of FBG's Players Championship leagues. draft is Sunday, PPR league

I figure Gore or AJ will be there at 6, will be happy with either

6th pick 10 team no-ppr 1 QB 2 RB 3 WR 1 TE 1 D 1 K

I went with the strategy of getting to stud WR's early becuase I feel rounds 3-5 still have solid backs to be had. You can grab a Manning type QB late who you know is going to put up solid numbers. Had I know I could have had Jennings in the 3rd ( I thikn he bounces back) I might have gone RB in the 2nd - although no RB of good value is out there by then. Hope this helps.

1 Johnson, Andre WR HOU - Gore was available

2 Johnson, Calvin WR DET

3 Thomas, Pierre RB NO - Charles was available

4 McCoy, LeSean RB PHI

5 Wells, Beanie RB ARI

6 Nicks, Hakeem WR NYG

7 Owens, Terrell WR CIN

8 Barber, Marion RB DAL

9 Manning, Eli QB NYG

10 Gonzalez, Tony TE ATL

11 Bryant, Dez WR DAL

Had my 14 team NON PPR league last night. I had every intention of taking Gore or Turner, but then MJD fell to me at 1.06. I couldn't pass him up, despite all the knee injury stuff floating around.

3. S. Smith (Car)

4. J. Stewart

5. Gates

14. Buckhalter

15. Miami DEF

16. Longwell

Draft last night, 10 Team, PPR, 6th spot; Start 2 QB, 3 RB, 4 WR, 1 Flex (RB/WR/TE), 1 TE/K/D

1. Gore

2. CJ

3. Fitzgerald

4. McCoy

5. S. Smith (Car)

6. CJ Spiller

7. Eli Manning

8. Celek

9. Stafford

10. Forsett

11. S. Moss

12. Pitt D

13. Rackers

14. L. Robinson

15. B. Berrian

16. B. Scott

With the 6th Pick in our 12-team, PPR league, I ended up with the following team:

1.06 Andre Johnson (top 5 were CJ, ADP, Rice, Gore, MJD)

2.07 DeAngelo Williams (passed on Shonn Greene, Benson, Grant, PThomas, Charles and Best)

3.06 Tony Romo (all of the top QBs were gone and Imay have reached looking back since I got Cutler in the 11th rd, which was very surprising....)

4.07 Antonio Gates (thought about Boldin here but went with the top ranked TE to pair up with the top WR)

5.06 Knowshon Moreno (maybe should have taken Spiller here, ouch...)

6.07 Malcom Floyd (value pick here IMHO)

7.06 Reggie Bush (this is a PPR league and Bush could surprise)

8.07 Marion Barber (value pick again IMHO)

9.06 Bernard Berrian

10.07 Laurent Robinson

11.06 Jay Cutler (WOW!!!! hindsight 20/20, Cutler would be my starting QB and would have taken Ryan Grant over Romo)

12.07 Louis Murphy

13.06 Correll Buckhalter (handcuff for Moreno)

14.07 Eddie Royal

15.06 Steve Slaton (hunch if Foster can't make it the whole season, Slaton in the 15 rd will be a steal)

16.07 Nick Folk (best K available)

17.06 New York Giants (best Def available)

Your thoughts?

QB: Eli, Stafford

WR: C Johnson, S Smith (CAR), Jacoby Jones, D McCluster

What think you?

12 team PPR high performance...was fortunate to land Andre at that spot.

1 - Andre Johnson

2 - Miles Austin (Mendenhall went a pick ahead, and I passed on Shonn Greene)

3 - LeSean McCoy (choice was between Best, Pierre and McCoy)

4 - Antonio Gates (Crabtree was there for me, as were slew of mediocre backs)

5 - Knowshon Moreno (Arian Foster went a pick before)

6 - Percy Harvin (Santana Moss, Mike Wallace, Percy Harvin were there...comes down to preference)

7 - Reggie Bush (he is probably my #2)

8 - Jay Cutler (the moment Flacco went, I figure I had to take a QB in the next round or two...Matt Ryan was the other who was there)

9 - Felix Jones (Stafford, Jacobs and Big Ben were there)

10 - Devin Hester (Gafney and Philly D went the two picks before...so I was stuck)

11 - Pitt D (D's started going, and I regret taking them over Hightower, who went with the next pick)

12 - Donald Brown (Upside is all that matter nos)

13 - Mike Thomas (More upside)

14 - Lance Moore (Oddly, Darren Sproles lasted till this round and went a few picks earlier)

15 - Correll Buckhalter (Handcuff)

16 - Vince Young (Young or Orton)

17 - Neil Rackers

It seemed like going in, every mock I did showed me that the ideal was a WR round 1, and one of the backs sliding to round 2. Being from NY, I would have expected one of the owners between 7 and 12 to jump on Shonn Greene in the second round, but they all passed...and being a PPR, I would assume most of you guys would pass as well. So you might end up having to go two receivers, which isn't so bad either, because the backs are that deep.

Drafting at the 6 spot, I found that you were far better off being left out in the cold on stud backs then stud receivers. I mean, if you are that worried about missing out, just make sure to grab one in the 4th, instead of a stud TE like I did here.

All in all, I like 6 this year. Going into the draft I was iffy on it finding that at a spot like 11 or 12, I had a better shot of getting the type of team that I wanted...but when put into practice in my league with my settings, it ended up being a solid spot.

Just finished a 12 teamer, 3RR. QB/RB/WR/Flex/Flex/TE/K/DEF. WR's & TE's get .5 PPR. QB's get 4 pts per TD and -2 per intro.

1.06 - Gore (first 5 went CJ, AP, MJD, AJ, Rice)

2.07 - Calvin Johnson (3 QB's went in round 1 so he fell)

3.07 - Best (WR's like Smith & Colston were still on the board)

4.07 - Foster (Boldin, Charles and Smith from NYG went before this pick)

5.06 - Ochocinco (passed on Crabtree, Nicks, Sims-Walker...almost took Moreno)

6.07 - Harvin

7.06 - Cutler (11th QB off the board)

8.07 - Z.Miller

9.06 - Caddy (just couldn't pass on him this late, almost took Cowboys D, which went in this round...may regret this)

10.07 - Holmes

11.06 - Big Ben

12.07 - Jacoby Jones

13.06 - Raiders

14.07 - Folk

I hate this draft slot but think I did ok. Kinda worried about the defense though.
