Gostkowski's range

Kicker Stephen Gostkowski just completed his pre-game warmups and the issue will be going to the open end of the stadium (lighthouse side).

Gostkowski cut the warmup short at 43 yards, which is something to keep in mind regarding the field position game today. The ball seemed to carry right to left when kicked to that side.

Gostkowski's warmup included 50-yard kicks to the closed end of the stadium, and he made them.

Chargers kicker Nate Kaeding had a difficult warmup.

Game Time.... :goodposting:

I'm rooting for the SuperChargers but @ Foxboro in the cold with your star players beat up against Brady & Randy. I could def. see Maroney having a good day with the rock.

Brain tells me -

Patriots - 27

Chargers - 23

I know it is going to be cold. The wind is what will be huge. If it is windy, that definitely gives the Chargers an advantage, as we saw what windy weather did to the Patriots passing game back in the Jets game last month. If it does not affect the Pats passing game, forget about it...the Patriots will win by double digits.
I agree that the wind and to a lesser degree the cold helps SD. SD lives off of turnovers and throwing the ball in the cold and wind could easily lead to an INT or two. That combined with a strong SD running game and strong front seven leads me to believe this game will be very close. I don't understand or agree with those predicting a NE blowout. NE 27SD 20
Just from public perception, if SD can keep it within a touchdown it would be a pretty major upset. If the Pats lose it will be considered one of the bigger upsets in the history of football. So no pressure. ;)

I disagree about keeping it close would be a victory...this is the team that took out the Colts! They set the bar last week!

If San Diego can get to the SB from the wildcard spot, through Indianapolis and Foxboro, wow.

Too bad the Chargers are playing against the Pats...I would cheer for them to see that. Love going for the underdogs!

;) Me too. Except during college BB season, where, as a UNC fan, underdogs annoy me.

Tomlinson does not look himself. He looked way too eager to get out of bounds on that screen pass, as opposed to cutting it back for a few more yards, which is what he would normally do.

If LT is hurting, keep him out of the game okeep him out. on pass blocks who have to attack the rusher and plant hard. LT did neither. There is no such thing as a decoy blocker. Still Bolts need to continue to play conservative on O this quarter while they are throwing against the wind.

ANybody know what the yellow and gray symbol is on the field? It is on both sidelines right around the 50.

Looks like a brdige and some spotlights going into the air. Significance? :lmao:

Wow...2 drives and no points for the Pats. Chargers have wihstood that initial onslaught of the Pats so far...they really need to figure out a way to start manufacturing some points. Still going to need to 30 points likely in order to win today.

CHargers are getting pressure with 4. I still say they need to add another blitzer.
Why? If they are getting pressure with 4, that means one more guy can stay in pass coverage. If you rush 5 and the Pats block it, Brady WILL find the open receiver.

These Patriots do not look like The Patriots.
I think the most overrated part of this Patriots team is their offensive line. I remember someone said in a previous thread that they are the best pass blocking line of all time. Not even close. The fact Matt Lyght was named All Pro was mind boggling to me. So many teams are scared of the Pats passing offense (and rightfully so), they play dime defenses and rush 3-4 players. They need to blitz. Looks like San Diego is listening.

Yes they do and I point to 2 plays on the last drive. Welker caught a 5 yard pass and turned it into 12 yards..exactly what they needed for a first down and Ben Watson caught a ball that would have driven many to go out after 4 or 5 yeards, instead he keeps his feet inbounds and catches the Chargers off gard and turns it into another 3-4 yards to set up a 3rd and 2.

Big momentum for SD to get a couple of early stops. I know the Pats O hasn't been the same from December on, or so, as it was early on, but if they got running down hill early with a couple of early scores, you could see this one being ugly.

Big ups to SD either way for playing quite corageously today while taking on water with all these injuries. As much as I'd love to see the Pats lose, I think I'd feel good for them getting a win much more I think. Norv deseves a lot of the crap he gets, but nice to see him proving a lot of us wrong.
