Why? If they are getting pressure with 4, that means one more guy can stay in pass coverage. If you rush 5 and the Pats block it, Brady WILL find the open receiver.

Because they are not hitting Brady with 4. It is causing him to side step but not completely alter his throw. Blitz and blitz again.
 
Not exactly the best offense of all time when Brady can't just sit back in the pocket for 11 seconds on every play.

That said, the Pats will certainly get theirs today. SD needs to score, you can't hold NE to two straight punts to start and still be tied because they probably won't be punting twice in a row again.

Yes they do and I point to 2 plays on the last drive. Welker caught a 5 yard pass and turned it into 12 yards..exactly what they needed for a first down and Ben Watson caught a ball that would have driven many to go out after 4 or 5 yeards, instead he keeps his feet inbounds and catches the Chargers off gard and turns it into another 3-4 yards to set up a 3rd and 2.

Like I said earlier, I don't mind the Chargers playing consevative when they are throwing against the wind. Next quarter they need to start to throw a little bit more.

Very true, but this game is not looking to be high scoring at all, so points are at a premium. Plus, if SD can get out of the first quarter with the lead after going against the wind, that will be huge. Of course, now that I have said that, NE will score quickly before the quarter is over. ;)
 
Aside from the one throw by Rivers to Chambers for 20 yards, neither QB looks very accurate.

I wonder if it is windier than it looks. Also the cold weather affects the grip / feel of the ball, so it looks to be a low-scoring affair today.

 
Nice drive by the Patriots; instead of throwing mid-range passes, they are now throwing short passes to the receivers and letting them pick up yards after the catch. They will probably do that to death now, since the running game was not working and the wind might negate the downfield passing game.
