With the teams traveling together on the Amazing Race plane and the goofy timed release at the start, it doesn't look like there is much of a chance to change the order of the teams barring a brain-fart (like the twins did this leg). It is certainly surprising that Arun and Natalie are actually in the final four. And I still can't stand Penn. He's a legend in his own mind.

Arun and Natalie making the final three would be an upset. Anything to do with navigation imposes a difficult challenge.

As recent tasks have not emphasized physicality Dusty and Ryan have had more problems and shown to be beatable.

Kim and Penn are well rounded, intelligent and work together well. Also they are an older than usual couple  for being this deep in the race and leading.

It would have been shocking to see Dusty and Ryan out before the final but it seemed pretty clear that this would be a non-elimination leg. When the flight attendants got to the mat and Phil didn't say that they were one of the final three teams to race for the million (and that was about halfway through the episode) it was a given.

They did try to make it look like it was closer than it was. Then it could have been four times Arun and Natalie would have been saved.

  Either of the first two you name would be fine with me.  That one brohan, the one who didn't go to prison, is so obnoxious that I can't root for them.  And father/daughter are nice, but not deserving.

All 4 teams chose the smashing of the plates challenge seemed appropriate for releasing the frustration of having to be on your hands and knees searching through a thousand or more rocks. 

If this hadn't been a non-elimination leg Arun & Natalie would have been in the final which would have been a surprise.  Maybe they are the turtles who beat the hares in the final. But though I said it I dont believe it.

I'd give them 50-1 odds. Other odds: Kim & Penn 2-1, the bros 5/2 and stewardesses 3-1. If the final legs involve physical challenges I'd switch the bros with  Kim/Penn. Stewardesses have been steady and see them finishing second to whoever wins it.

After the family edition race (it was like season eight or so) Phil went to an event with several of the teams and when he introduced the Black family  (Reggie, Kim, Kenny and Austin Black). He says to the crowd, "Here's the Black family." The Black family was the only African American team that season. When the family came on stage, they announced that their surname was Black, saving Phil from further embarrassment. Or worse.

They have shown Kim writing things down several times now, and she is the only one they have shown doing that, gotta believe there will be a challenge where they have to answer questions about what they have done.

When Kim was looking for the rocks and stopped to say the "this is when the show will play that sad sound as someone just misses the rock" and "right now they will probably show someone walk right past it" as she kicks the rock and almost flips it, I want to believe that was in real time and she wasn't prompted.

When last week was non-elimination, I figured they did that to drag 2 more weeks out. Now this week is a 2 hour final with 4 teams?

Although my favorite team didn't win at least the three most deserving remaining teams made it to the finals. I guess given that COVID took out most of the really competitive teams at the break, this finish was inevitable. Dusty and Ryan dominated early because of the more physical challenges. But at the end, there weren't any such challenges and it didn't match up with their skill set.

I was glad to see that the Race spent more time interviewing the second and third teams at the mat. The girls really could have used the money more than the internet couple. Too bad they lost their jobs due to the pandemic.

For a season with such unprecedented challenges, they at least completed the Race and got it on the air. Well done Amazing Race.

Season 34 of The Amazing Race will drop next month, on September 21, at 10:00 ET/PT. Then on Wednesday, September 28, The Amazing Race will air a special 90-minute episode from 9:30-11:00 PM ET/PT.

Beginning on Wednesday, October 5, The Amazing Race will air in its new regular time period from 10:00 -11:00 PM ET/PT on CBS.

Apparently, the TAR charter plane will be back. Too bad because I loved the airport drama when teams tried to get the best flight out to the next destination. It will be interesting to see how this season looks after Covid-19 has cooled down.

For the first time, the race will start outside the US. The starting line will be in Munich, Germany. Reportedly, there will be no non-elimination legs so a team will be eliminated each week.

Interesting first episode. Very different in a lot of ways. I hope that the "you choose the order of challenges" isn't done every week. It makes it too difficult to tell who is in what place. I would also rather have Phil tell us the team placing at the mat like in the past. I do like the no non-elimination legs twist. It always seemed suspicious how the "pre-determined" non-elimination legs appeared to favor the more interesting teams. None of the teams really looked like a dominant team yet. Good to have the Race back!

This is almost precisely where I am. Those are my favorite teams, but the only ones I don't like are the same as yours - the motivational speakers. Actually he seems OK, but she's too much for me. I dig her hair, though.

I agree, they made a point of showing other teams making sure they had all their stuff, and "remind me to bring the hat, I am putting it over here so it doesn't blow off..." Unless in the clue it said something about the "outfit" just being the clothes but to bring everything with them and we just didn't see that clarifying comment.

This could have been deliberate by the adoption service and not in a good way. Check out the documentary Three Identical Strangers. I wonder if something similar happened with twins?

Saw that documentary; very good and also disturbing.

Anyway, came in here to post that the sisters are becoming possibly my favorite team ever. They're great at everything and are obviously loving the ability to get to know each other after their separation at birth. They could have been bitter but instead are overwhelmingly positive people.

Pretty much. But, no "not knowing" when you go into the mat. You're last, you're out.

It was really surprising that "Motivational Speaker" Dom had so little confidence in doing the sculpture task. Rich did to seem to prop her up a bit. Not surprising that they were eliminated since they were ninth or tenth on every leg. I was disappointed to see that Sharik is ready to tap out already. I think that Dad will have a hard time keeping her interested. Glad to see the twins win the leg.

How do you get to the sculpting challenge, look at 5 or 6 other people with almost perfect looking statues and think they all actually carved them in the hour or so they got there ahead of you?
Amazing how many people were holding the mallet and using the end to bang on the chisel before figuring out how to hold it like a hammer.
Good thing there is a team of motivational speakers to get Sharik her confidence back, oh wait...

I gotta say, I like the new format, and I like that the Mega Leg didn't have a forced bunching, "hours of operation", or other mid-episode restart/reset... it truly was a continued leg straight through. Big fan of how they've changed it up the last couple of seasons. I know they don't want to repeat the mistake of season 1 (when one team finished a whole continent ahead of second place, who at the end showed up at the clue box for the Detour from the previous week's episode, only to find a note inside that said someone else already crossed the finish line). For so long they'd tried to hide how they do it by bunching up in the middle of legs with shops only open at certain random hours, only three times the helicopters leave, flights to other cities that are only flown once a day, etc... which would often hit in the middle of a leg leaving only one task to determine who stays and who goes.

Now... they just stagger the start to give the winners some of the lead they earned, and let them just race all leg through start to finish. No sitting around on a sidewalk overnight watching other teams catch up, they're active and racing all episode. Much more energy and better to watch, and I feel the stronger teams are still up near the top and can win or lose based on their own performance that day.

Not surprising that the Linton and Sharik were eliminated after last weeks meltdown. Again, Dad did the roadblock and Sharik didn't seem very ... motivated. That's four different first place teams in four legs. Looks to be competitive all season.

It looks like a team gets a positive Covid test next week. That happened in both Amazing Race Australia and Amazing Race Canada and those teams were held out for multiple legs and just had a speed bump after quarantine. It will be interesting to see we do.

Well, there's our answer. Get Covid, get eliminated. I think it's fairer than the Canadian or Australian solutions. You just shouldn't be able to miss legs and still be in it. Not fair to the other teams.

Especially with the scope of the US shows. Foreign editions tend to stay in one country for a while. Can't be dragging covid teams from country to country waiting for them to test negative.

I was just in Jordan in May and was at all these stops
Wadi Rum was a disappointment as I thought we would be in the middle of the desert but people and camps were close
My day in perta , I did about 32km of walking
Amann , the main part is walkable and i was all the sites and recognize most of the streets as I walked them as well
The final pit stop is behind a gate, very close to the main part of the city . Paid 2 bucks to get the gate open and go in.

Sorry to see Kevin Hart and wife go but with the last place start, car in ditch, not speedy at challenges, leads to elimination when the leg didn't have much movement between teams (except for the driving). Seemed like nice people and had a great attitude throughout. Now almost every team left looks like they can win.

I had nothing against the cheerleaders but I'm glad they went. I'm not sure that one twin is gonna make it or at least her injury will result in a last place finish. I'm rooting for the asian guy and blond, I think.

It sure looks like they're playing up Emily's injury as their downfall. Or is that just a red herring?
