Official Arian Foster - All Foster news, all the time (2 Viewers)

You can all blame Rotoworld for the jinx.

This morning's blurb:

"The oft-injured Foster continues to enjoy one of the healthiest offseasons of his career. He participated fully at OTAs and is looking fresh early in camp while hurdling would-be tacklers."

On another note, maybe an aging RB shouldn't be "hurdling would-be tacklers" in meaningless practice situations. Sounds like a great way to injur a groin.

If I'm the Houston brass, with all the seasons of Foster injury concerns the last thing I want to do is bring in guys who also have consistent injury histories like Bradshaw or Tate or SJax. As stated above, Rice is most likely out.

It's either Johnson, a trade for someone's current backup, or blindly and stupidly staying the course with the stiffs they have now. If anything good has come of this at least it's that there's time to figure things out. They may decide they are tired of relying on Foster and his constant injuries and trade for someone worth carrying into next year as starter. Selfishly I'd love that to be Ball of Denver, but he's also had injury concerns. I'll still guess Chris Johnson.

You don't want Chris Johnson. He's completely finished. As bad as Blue is, he's probably more effective then CJ at this point.

Yeah, the guy is all or nothing and these days it's a ton of nothing and by the time you get an 'all', the game is already over.

 
Time for Houston to make a play for Khiry Robinson. He's buried on the Saints depth chart and probably wouldn't be very expensive and he's better than all of the scrubs they will run out there now.

This team is gonna suck. By the time week 10 rolls around, they will be well out of playoff contention. He may not come back at all this year.

 
So with current projections having him coming back the second half of the season...where will his ADP land as a late season/ playoff run stash??

This is a good point. Other side of the coin is that Foster might decide enough is enough too and hang 'em up.

Im not sure they make a move for a long term starter this season. Its not like they are a RB away from a championship run. More likely they see what Blue has got and bring in a veteran FA rather than a trade.

Makes sense, HOU grabs Michael, SEA lets Turbin and Rawlsy duke it out for the backup this year. Let Turbin walk next year where he starts for a bottom feeder team, Lynch retires and Rawls is your SEA lead back in '16, where they draft the next wave at RB. 3 separate starting RBs for their teams in '16! Seahawks RB depth problem solved one year from now.

Denver has a surplus of RBs as well. Could make a play on Hillman or even Ball and get an upgrade from Blue.

Alternatively, what's this year's version of "Suck for Luck" called? Houston could help themselves long-term by going 1-15 this season.

Assuming no injuries and every player you mentioned progresses exactly as planned. Oh, and that Houston wants Michael. And that Turbin walks.

My dynasty Foster-owning friend... says that Foster is always slow to recover above and beyond whatever listed.

We have to hear how long surgery recovery time will be officially listed at.

Makes even more sense when you know Hou doesn't have a QB worth protecting.

 
I'm more interested in how early (other) owners might start taking Blue. He could push some players I like one more draft slot down.

 
Debating whether to dangle Blue at the Foster owners.

He either goes off week 1 or they sign Bradshaw on the Tuesday morning.

A legit shot at a starting RB job when you are currently sitting on your couch? They will be chomping at the bit for an opportunity like that. You show anything at all and you might find yourself signing a new contract next offseason instead of sacking groceries.

They may have trash at QB, but they had trash at QB last year and still went 9-7. Hell of a lot better situation than many other teams out there.

True, Foster was the main cog in their offense last year with the trash at QB. A few people have posted about Andre Johnson leaving and that is a little overblown as he functioned as a poor possession receiver last year. However, it will still be harder on Hopkins if none of the other guys they brought in can take any coverage off.

Of course, if Houston blows this year, then maybe they can get a shot at drafting a decent QB which is really their major missing piece. A decent player under center coupled with that defense and they'd be a pretty scary team going forward in 2016.

Talk was that Houston wanted Melvin Gordon in the draft which is why San Diego traded up one spot ahead of them. Foster was already going to be on the roster bubble next year due to his contract, unless he comes back in the second half of the year and does gangbusters, this probably means he will be done as a Texan after this year.

 
Is Foster really the key to this team having a great or crappy year? If Houston really is a decent team then they'll do just fine with another back. We see no-name backs do great every year once given the chance on a good team. If Houston struggles it's because they are not good, not because they don't have Foster. Granted Foster is a special back and may be worth at least one win just because of him.

The problem is Andrew Luck type quarterbacks don't come around all that often.

 
If I'm right, Foster was an undrafed free agent at one time. They'll likely add depth due to the foster injury but why wouldn't they want to see what they have in Polk who looked good subbing for McCoy.

I get your point but think it has to do with two things.

1) Foster is a special talent.

2) The team around him isn't that good.
