I don't think most people we're expecting a guy to look like he was shot out of a gun with no training and coming off surgery in a faster than expected time frame. If those were your expectations I can see why you were disappointed. I think most realistic posters figured there would be at least several weeks to get up to speed, get in game shape and hope for no setbacks. So far there don't appear to be any setbacks, his touch count and production improved significantly from game 1 to game 2 (with 4 days rest) so in my opinion that's a big win...let's see what he does in game 3 and the coming weeks. If he's still running for 2 ypc in week 8/9 I'll be more concerned but right now those numbers are completely meaningless to me.
Exactly how I feel. Remember what people were saying preseason? It wasn't even sure if he'd be back in any capacity until mid-season. Missing just 4 weeks was just about best case scenario. You should've known better than to start him his first week back. In the game 4 days later, the touch number was great though he looks a little rusty. If you started him, you did ok (especially in PPR). Now there's a nice long 10 day rest period followed by some juicy matchups. I feel good about the future and my decision to draft him where I did.

What I saw last night was rust, not demise. With that being said, I underestimated the degree of time it would take to get back into things fully. I thought he would look better than he did last night (but then, again, maybe I should also not underestimate that this was his second game in 5 days).
He didn't go from running a 4.55 to running a 4.85 over a groin surgery and an off season. He'll get it back in over the next 2-3 weeks (assuming no set backs!).
Even if he doesn't hit the Arian of last year, with that usage rate, he's no worse than a low end RB1. Just don't see 12 guys that I'd take over him on a weekly basis in the wasteland that fantasy RB has become.

Peterson, Charles, Bell, and maybe Forte. That's it. We have Freeman and Ivory running well right now. And Ingram. I doubt they all keep it up, but for the sake of argument, let's call them RB1's. There is nobody else that you'd want over Foster going forward. That makes him RB#8. And I'd take him before anyone except Peterson, Charles, and Bell.

Such a wasteland right now. I expect a few others to step into more consistent production as the year goes along, but it's not pretty...

As much as I would have liked this to happen, he'd have been caught. Replays, IMO, show a guy right there that probably would have shoe-string tacked him.
I like what I saw. The biggest threat we have for Arian's production is the Texans sucking. Good thing the division is a disaster. Would be nice to see Indy lose one or two soon to keep Houston feeling like they're in it.

Most people drafted Foster on the cheap (5-7th round); most owners probably had backup plans for week 1-4 and drafted accordingly. Most Foster owners are very happy today.
I definitely saw the safety but I think he either beats him (if he was lead he's going full speed) to the end zone or makes one move. Heck even if shoe string tackled at that angle he might have still fallen in. No way to be 100% but IMHO, he would have been able to beat the safety.
Oh for sure. If anyone is here bashing Foster, they just weren't able to get him. They got sharked.

Well, sir, those points he put up last night after not playing since last year are about as much as any RB1 hopes to average on any given week of the season.
You ever NOT shot a round of golf for a year and then picked up a club or NOT played a video game for 6 months and then picked it up? How'd you do? Feel a little, I dunno, "rusty"? Did it mean you were dead or dying or past your prime or is it just possible the fact that something you hadn't experienced in almost a year took a minute or two to get familiar with again?
REAL easy to spot the bitter "I wish I'd had the guts to draft Arian Foster" non-owners in here. You guys are easy to see. You're the ones holding your limp lamar Millers and asking about whether Boom Herron is good for you this week cause, you know, you're in a spot.

In a 12-team redraft league I (somewhat) reached for Foster at the end of the 4th. But now I'm rolling with Charles and Foster as my 2 RBs and couldn't he happier with the prospects of that combo the rest of the year. Never having Foster on any of my fantasy teams over the years, I loved how involved he was in the passing game as Houston played catch up... which I imagine will happen ALOT this year. My only concern was there seemed to be NO running lanes the entire game. Does Houston have a bunch of O-line injuries like the Eagles... or was it just a bad night?
I don't think he scores on that in the form he was in last night.
That said, if healthy, he makes a few of those DBs miss and ends up with 20-30 extra yards on the day.
I think everyone is happy. Usage was crazy and he amassed yards while looking pretty sluggish still. Hard to knock any RB getting 25+ touches these days.

Oh he easily beats him and he definitely gets another TD if he makes that other catch. And I'm positive he would've had a 3rd TD somewhere in there. Should have had at least 50 points.
Hey now, I'm kind of excited to see how Miller is used in week 6. By seasons end it may turn out that Miller was one of the best buy low players from the early part of the season....We now return you to your regularly scheduled discussion.

what's your official pre-December prediction? If it's an injury, then there's not one of us here who doesn't realize that's a possibility. Nor has anyone argued otherwise. Is it is that he'll stay healthy but won't be worth the 5th or 6th round pick he cost us?

If you're in it this year or next and reasonably the next (so, if you think your "win now" is the current 3 year window), I would say definitely because I think you will actually get value buying due to concerns people would have. There is no doubt he has risks but when I consider that I can't think of any relevant RB that hasn't been injured in the past three years at some point and I know Foster represents a higher upside than almost anyone at the position, I buy.
Think of even when you believe you have a solid thing, like Charles or Hill or Peterson prior to his sudden trouble last season. With a RB more than any position, it can ALWAYS be gone in a flash so my general motto with RBs is seize the day. I never try to plan out a RB for 5 years out and I never try to think one is so valuable that I simply can't imagine parting with them.
