*** Official Ben Roethlisberger 24?7 Champion Thread (1 Viewer)

Clash of the Titans

IBL Representative
in honor of this great player....let's keep it all roethlisberger....all the time......he's about to become a 3 time super bowl winner before the age of 30............and i'm predicting an MVP for the game as well...........events like the one below show that roethlisberger is the premier throwback quarterback to the nfl of yesterday........

Ben Roethlisberger was spotted "boozing" and singing at a Dallas piano bar until 1:15 Thursday morning.

According to the gossip site TMZ.com, Roethlisberger was drinking rum and cokes, singing "his face off," and buying "several rounds of drinks for himself and the entire bar." His tab was $800, and Roethlisberger left a $200 tip. Sources at the bar said Big Ben was "nice, fun, and took care of everyone."

They went to Pete's Dueling Piano Bar.

Sounds like some good fun. :goodposting:

We're told Ben racked up an $800 tab -- and tipped an additional $200. People inside the bar tell us Ben was "nice, fun and took care of everyone."

Great story, and it's good to hear those comments from the people at the bar.

And of course, amazing song.

:)

This morning, Ben told reporters about his big night out ... saying, "It was a superstition and tradition on Tuesday night. I take the linemen out to dinner. We went out for barbecue and then we wanted to hear some live music. We just had an enjoyable night."

Oh, the horror!!!!

I don't know Ben, I only hear what's said about him in the media but I hate to even hear he's out boozing it up. I know it's Super Bowl Week but IF the guy has a problem with alcohol, it doesn't matter about the when, it's just another excuse to drink.

I'm a fan of Big Ben on the field and really hope that one day he tackles his potential drinking problem.

FWIW, he's my pick as SB MVP too.

 I really hope one day Big Ben is able to deal with his potential meth problem.

Once a duuuuushe, always a duuuushe!

I have no dog in this fight but there is a huge difference in the quality of the 2 starting QB's in the Super Bowl and Aaron Rodgers will prove that he's the best QB on the field on Sunday.

...and of course there's the typical Browns fan right on time with a cheap shot at a Steeler player, being a die hard Steeler fan living in Cleveland gives me so much enjoyment dealing with people like him, LOVE IT!!!!!

If you've seen from some of my past posts in the Steelers thread and this forum, I have a lot of respect for the Steelers and a lot of admiration for the Rooney family. If this creep was on the Seahawks, Dolphins, or any other team which I don't give a damn about, he'd still be getting it. But like Mr. Adibisi said, he's one win away from being a good person, right?

About the same way Pirate Nation is working out for you.

Let me ask you this...I've read a lot of the Big Ben threads and they always devolve into the same crap...

In your opinion...What should the punishment to Ben have to have been to where you guys said..."That's fair" ...He got what he deserved.?

Obviously you think a 4 game suspension was nothing, right? So what should the punishment have been? Nobody ever comments on that. It seems most agree that Vick did his time for being convicted of a crime ...so live and let live...

Or are these diatribes just about your mortal dislike for Ben and the Steelers? Be honest....and you gotta admit, each and every one of you has an axe to grind b/c of Ben's football stature and Steelers success...so your opinions are slightly skewed, no?

I can answer this for you. They want Roethlisberger out of football and in jail, the Amercain justice system be damned.

Putting his past history aside, do you really believe that what he did on Tuesday night was a big deal? From what I read, it sounds like Ben behaved himself and paid a significant amount for his friends to have some fun. He also made curfew. I haven't heard a single report saying that he was acting obnoxious at that bar.

Obviously he didn't do anything wrong but let's face it. Ben brought all of this on himself because of his prior behavior. Anytime TMZ or someone else gets an opportunity to take a shot at him they are going to and there will be plenty of people that are going to jump in on the fun.He is just going to have to deal with it.

No. But when you're continually angering one of the legends of the franchise (Bradshaw), you sign a $100+ million deal and then unremorsefully crack your skull riding a crotch rocket without a helmet, build a very unlikeable reputation with both the players you play with AND the fans (look up stories about him trying to beat cover charges because of his stature, Hines Ward calling him out, etc.), have two sexual assault allegations against you, AND go out the weelk of the Super Bowl KNOWING there is target on your back and there’s a good chance of creating a distraction for your team, one kind of errs on the side of dooshbag here. And it’s not a crime to be a dooshbag, so he’s free to go.

You make some good points and I don't disagree with all of your post but I will make a few comments:1) Bradshaw may be a legend but he was no angel in his playing days and had his moments of being a dooshbag to Chuck Noll, Art Rooney Sr. and the city of Pittsburgh. His spat with Roethlisberger appeared to be one sided as I had never heard of Ben publically say anything negative towards Bradshaw. As a Steelers fans I will always love Brad but there are times where I wish he would just shut his mouth.2) I don't think going out to dinner with his teammates and singing at a piano bar is causing the team any distractions at all. If the Steelers lose on Sunday it will be because the Packers were the better team and not because Roethlisberger was doing a Billy Joel imitation 5 days before the game.

1) I love Terry, but he's acted childish with regards to Ben this whole time. He was making a lot of comments when he had never even met or had a conversation with Roethlisberger. The first time they ever had a private conversation was this week.2) Unremorseful? How do you come to that conclusion?3) No question he built a bad reputation off the field with both fans and players.4) No question he was involved in some questionable behavior in Tahoe and Milledgeville. Both of those situations have a lot of unanswered questions on both sides. No interest in rehashing it all again.5) The only people who seem to be distracted by what Ben did this week with his teammates are the folks at TMZ and people like you. Tomlin was asked about it and said this: “I am not concerned about that one iota. It’s normal for guys to eat dinner, believe it or not, every now and then during the course of the week leading up to a game. So, this week is no different than any other. I understand that some things may be reported and viewed differently, but that’s not our concern, really. During the course of the season on a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday, or what have you, believe it or not, guys live lives.”When the report came out that Goodell had reported that nobody had come to Ben's defense you saw a lot of his teammates do just that. I'd say he's won back his teammates. And we already know he's won back the local media, and they are the people that deal with him every week.Your hate for the Steeler franchise is understandable and it's not surprising that you would take every opportunity to take a shot at it's QB. But the guy has done everything right since he returned from his suspension. If it's a farce, that will reveal itself. A person can only pretend for so long. Until then, some of us are willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. But continually harping on the past while ignoring the present makes you look petty.

Ben snubbed Terry for things he said, they had a sit down this week an have appeared to put that stuff behind them. What no one else seems to be mentioning is Ben took his lineman out every Tuesday night during the season, supposedly.

He may very well be a dooshbag but there was nothing at all wrong with his actions on Tuesday. Thats what this discussion is about. I guess he didn't get the memo that he's required to stay in his hotel room every night. I highly doubt that this is a distraction for the team.

Can't be any worse than how the people with the black and yellow glasses who keep defending him look. Especially after many of this same crowd wanted to wash their hands of him.

I know you're bitter that the dung pile of a franchise that you cheer for has never done a damn thing in it's modern day existance, and celebrates that woman beater Jim Brown like a god, but come on man, lighten up.Some of Jim's highlights In 1965 an 18-year-old accused Brown of forcing her to have sex after giving her whiskey, but a jury found him innocent of assault and battery in the 10-day trial in 1965. He was accused of throwing his girlfriend from a balcony in 1968, but when the 22-year-old girl refused to name Brown as her assailant, the charge of assault with intent to murder was dropped. He was fined $300 for resisting a deputy. Brown was acquitted of assaulting a man after a traffic accident in 1969. He was fined $500 and spent a day in jail after beating up a golfing partner in 1978. He was charged with rape, sexual battery and assault in 1985, but the charges were dropped when the 33-year-old woman gave inconsistent testimony. The next year, he was arrested for allegedly beating his fiance after accusing her of flirting. He spent three hours in jail, but three days later the 21-year-old woman said she didn't want to prosecute. In October 1999, Brown, by then well into his 60's, was convicted in Los Angeles of smashing the window of his 25-year-old wife Monique's car, but was acquitted of making terrorist threats against her. The judge sentenced him to three years' probation, when Brown refused counseling, he was given a six-month sentence. He was released from jail in Ventura County (California) in July 2002 after serving less than four months.

The difference is, I don't rush post to post running around the internet like yinz do with my fire hose putting out Jim Brown is a doosh fires. I wouldn't be caught dead defending a POS like that, regardless of which colors he wore or how many championships he won. Yes, I'm as big as a Browns fan as they come, and Jim Brown is a POS.

Still waiting for answers to my questions. How many drinks with your teammates qualifies you to be a dooshbag and how many drinks did Ben have with his teammates?

It's not the drinks with the teammates. There are the other things I mentioned. Entitlement, elitism, a cavalier attitude after the motorcycle crash (apologized but did not promise he wouldn't ride a motorcycle again), being a doosh in public and to his team. The college girl and the Lake Tahoe incidents. All the sudden he takes the OL out, speaks to the media, wins a couple of games and he's a great guy again. And yes, if the first questions asked the following day to Tomlin and Roethlisberger are about going out the night before, it is a distraction during Super Bowl week. But hey, I guess the Rooneys made this bed that they'll have to lie in. That's all I got. Let the OP get in on this. I just call 'em as I see 'em.

Why do you feel that this is a distraction to the team? First, he did nothing wrong. Second, it happened 5 nights before the actual game. Third, his teammates probably aren't childish enough to make a big deal out of him going out to dinner and drinks with a few teammates. This is only a big deal for some people because of his history. Everything you say about Ben being a doosh may be true but you're way off base on this one.
