Got my first orange weapon, a Rocket Launcher that is worth about $600 less than my current one. Got is at level 25, can't use it until I hit level 26. But it is pretty unimpressive to be honest.

And want to bump this just to see if anyone has an answer or theory:

On a more serious note, I'm still only level 22. At level 21, I tipped Moxxi $11k and got an SMG. I went back after collecting some cash (totally different session) and tipped the b*tch $50k (all I had to be honest) and got NOTHING. Is there a trick to it? Do you have to tip a grand then talk to her? I just kept clicking tip and waiting for her to give me a weapon but nothing ever happened other than a few "you are sweet" comments or some such crap. Was I just tipping the tip jar to quickly or something? I can't imagine for only the second weapon, and at level 22, that $50k wasn't enough!

I see people complaining about the lack of orange drops both here and on other Borderlands forums. You need to accept that Orange in this game is not the same as Orange in the last game. There is no Cyan super rare anymore which means Orange is now somewhere closer to where that Cyan rarity was at.

You will likely play the entire first playthrough and only see 1 or 2 Oranges if you're lucky.

The Cyan weapons were not a part of Borderlands main game. They only were introduced during the 3rd DLC. I am fully expecting that a new rarer weapon class will be introduced with one of the DLC's for Borderlands 2 as well. I am nearing the end of the first play through and have had I believe 3 orange items. They are very rare indeed.

Be very careful. I picked up an orange shot gun that had very basic stats and I almost sold it. I ended up using it for almost 10 levels above its classification because its hidden ability was so incredible. Make sure you find your orange weapons hidden ability before deciding it is not that great.

:goodposting: I had an Orange Pistol that was underwhelming other than it had corrosive dmg, but what it did was shoot a swarm of corrosive pellets that sought out the enemies, you barely had to aim. Thing was awesome.

The one orange I've seen so far is a level 4 pistol that has good Electric damage. The "bullets" look like a taser being fired. It consumes 4 bullets per shot but it's still wicked deadly. It hits for about 150 points of damage and the shock nova that follows after a few seconds does another 200 damage or so. For a level 4 weapon it's simply unfair to the bandits.

I think the Orange weapons are so rare this time around because the hidden abilities are so amazing. In Borderlands 1 I just remember the Orange weapons being better stats but not having these awesome hidden abilities. My shot gun had the hidden ability that when I reloaded, it acted like a guided missile to find enemies and shoot them and eventually crash into them. It was useful in so many situations where I could not aim but could still hit things that I needed too.

I didnt get any orange weapons in the first run through.

I quicky got an orange kick ### pistol and an orange grenade mod. Nothing for 10+ levels until last night when I picked up an orange shotgun that was described above. It homes in on the target when reloading. Pretty good.

Pretty sure I kept it for just that reason. Wish it had been a shotgun or something though. I rarely use a rocket launcher. Maybe this thing will convince me to start. I'll find out in about half a level.I guess the hidden abilities don't reflect in the price either? I mean, the Rocket Launcher I carry is worth about $1500. This orange thing shows a value of only $900. Do these awesome shotguns and pistols and whatnot have insanely low price values attached to them also?

The Mechromancer DLC went live today. Surprise!
cool! Did you download it? I think we get this free as part of the pre order right?
I'm downloading right now.
It's a big update, sheesh.
Any new trophy's/achievements come with this DLC?
Pretty sure it's just the new class. It was included if you pre-ordered. Not sure if it's included with Season Pass. I haven't signed up for Season Pass yet, but may do so later. Hoping Steam eventually does a sale on the Season Pass.

I am not sure. I never use the price of a weapon to determine its worth so I never pay attention to it.

Liking the Mechromancer and her Deathtrap. We took Midgemong with zero effort in about 5 seconds. Maybe be a little overpowered.

How do I get the Mechromancer if I didn't pre order?
It's a $10 DLC on Steam (it basically gives you the whole pre-order pack). I can't say if the same is offered on consoles.edit: The DLC is the same price on XBox Live (800 MSP) and I assume on PSN too. XBox Live calls the DLC "Premiere Club".

In. I missed the first Borderlands but picked this one up as a Redbox and decided to go ahead and buy it. Am having lots of fun as a Gunzerker.

Giving a shot at the Hyperion Slaughterhouse.

I am level 34 and made it through the first 3 levels of the Slaughterhouse in 5 tries total (one time I stupidly ran off a cliff).

I am getting my butt whooped on level 4 though. It is 6 waves and I have not made it through the first wave in 4 tries. I may have to wait until I am much stronger to give this a shot again.

Looks like the update today came with info on the first DLC (not the 5th character Mechromancer, but a true DLC)

Captain Scarlett and Her Pirate's Booty DLC introduces Oasis to Borderlands 2

by Andrew Yoon, Oct 09, 2012 11:45pm PDT

Today's DLC update to Borderlands 2 included a little something extra: hints at the first major expansion for Gearbox's shooter. PS3 players can download a title update and see brand new trophies for the game's upcoming add-on, entitled Captain Scarlett and Her Pirate's Booty.

Three achievements are attached to this DLC. Gadabout (Bronze) has you discovering "all named locations in Oasis and the surrounding Pirate's Booty areas," suggesting the upcoming add-on introduces a brand new area for players to romp through.

The other trophies discovered by PS3Trophies.com include Treasure Hunter (Gold) and Completionist (Silver).

Eagle-eyed fans on Gearbox's official forums have also uncovered some mentions to the forthcoming pirate adventure in the PC version's source files. For example, here's how the prologue introduces this add-on:

Legends speak of Captain Blade's Lost Treasure of the Sands. Of a prize so great, that men would turn the sands red in pursuit of it. Of a pirate queen, courageous and deadly, who would stop at nothing to find it. Of a monstrous Leviathan. Of the Vault Hunters who journeyed to the desert town of Oasis, not knowing the horrors that would befall them.

It appears the DLC will introduce a new head for each class, a new rarity level, and new items, weapons, and bosses. Expect much more on this expansion once Gearbox actually announces it.

I just completed the main story. Only two side missions left, the Hyperion Slaughter House and the Raid boss, both of which will have to wait for later. From what I read, the Raid boss might be close to impossible for a solo character even at level 50 unless you can find the Bee shield.

As for the end of the game, very cool.

I got one orange weapon from the last kill but I can't figure out what to use it for. It is a shot gun that is called Flak the World. Ultra powerful but has an accuracy of 1%. I can't hit anything with it nor can I figure out what the hidden ability is. Has anyone figured this out yet?

I am going to go into explorer mode now and try and find my missing locations. My trophy's tell me I am missing quite a few locations. After that I will likely move on to the second play through.

Flak The World – Flakker: Fires many projectiles in a flak-like pattern which travels slowly in the direction the user is facing (Drops from the Warrior)

yeah I read that from the link I gave you earlier. If that is the entire hidden ability this thing is a waste. I can be literally on top of a level 3 enemy and it won't kill them. Just misses entirely.

I think I will sell it. What a waste of a rare weapon.

yeah I do have room. I rarely store anything, that is a good idea to toss it in the bank in case I am missing something with this weapon.

I shot the lock off my wallet and bought the premiere pack. Playing as the Mechromancer. It seems a overpowered. I didn't die for any of the first ~4 bosses.

For those that feel their new characters are over powered, don't forget that all the bad ### points you accumulated with your first character count towards your second character. All second characters should feel significantly stronger than your first if you built up a decent amount of bad points.

You were supposed to let them figure that out by themselves.

I agree they make a difference but it feels like a completely different game.

You also have to account for your skill level. You especially, have been playing a lot. You've been fighting much harder mobs for 2 weeks plus. You're also playing the beginning of the game, of course it's going to be easier.

Another thing is that I've been playing on True Vault level and then started back on regular with the new character. Making more sense now.

Googling on a phone sucks so I will ask here. Wanted to play online with my brother and it wouldn't let my lv 28 character jump into his lv 11 game. What is the biggest level difference you can have and still be able to join a lower leveled character's game?

Talking with my son, I don't think there is any limit. He's jumped in with his level 40 character to help a level 3 out with a mission. This is on the PS3.
