I know I am late to the party here but wanted to toss my name in too for those not already on my friends list on 360. Always up for some co-op.

This is the bad side of playing with my son. He is a total loot whore. All I get is the left over crap he doesn't want. Then he wonders why I'm not carrying my weight in the fight. I'm like, gee, I don't know, maybe this 6 DMG SMG you "let me have" just isn't that effective against the level 34 badass enemy we're fighting!I experienced not having fun playing with buddies the first time last night. When co-op partners become the biggest competition rather than the game itself, no fun. Normally we share the loot, so everyone gets some since everyone put in work...last night, not the case. You get it whenI too am interested in finding out when the 4th slot opens. I'm playing as a gunzerker, so pairing up the weapons slots and giving myself two different dual wielding loadouts is nice to think about, but better when I can actually do it.When do you get the 4th weapon slot opened up? I only have three, and find myself often swapping out the third spot between a shotty, a pistol and a SMG. The Combat Rifle and Sniper Rifle never leave my inventory, so those two spots are locked up.
I got one for signing up with Shift and decided to use it. I'm only level 26, but I figured I'd get something good for the fight in Opportunity.Got 2 relics. One of them just lowers the cooldown for my sentry gun (wHOOPEEE) and the other increases my health by 28%. (which is decent, but I like my current relic which increases explosive damage by 17% more). So yeah, I wasted it. I was under the impression that the key would get me 4 or 5 guns, not 2 relics. Lame.Got to lvl 8 / sanctuary, then went on vacation for a week.Got back, loaded up my game... "ooh, a chest!"Well, there goes a golden key for a ####ty lvl 8 grenade mod.![]()
You can get more keys. I'm up to 8 keys now...just check randy pitchford's Twitter.I got one for signing up with Shift and decided to use it. Thanks--I guess I don't have one because I can't open it.Did you have to do something to redeem it?In Sanctuary, by the fast travel, is a gold chest with skulls on it. You can use the gold keys on it...just walk up to the chest and you will know if you have a key. Once used, key is gone
Yea, my sniper had a tough time there, too.Just got done turning back on the Fast Travel to Sanctuary and all I can say about that mission is, wow, tough! I died more on those two missions (getting the doober, then installing and protecting the doober) than the rest of the game put together. That was one instance were a sniper build just wasn't optimal. I could see where a gun toting Gunzerker would fair much, much better there.
Now that I am back in town though, holy crap. I picked up a good dozen side missions. I'll be entertained for awhile without touching the main storyline.
I think that is the exact level, and exact reward, I got when I goofed up my first key. I think I have a second but, to be honest, I don't care to much. I've yet to hear anyone be totally stoked about anything they got from the chest.Got to lvl 8 / sanctuary, then went on vacation for a week.Got back, loaded up my game... I've started on a few of the myriad of side quests I got now that I am back in Sanctuary. They sure are easier than the main missions! Of course I'm killing things and getting 1 XP for them. I have the Crystal Cave one. Holding off on that for a bit based on an earlier comment. I am trying to go by area. I like to have at least two or three quests before I go somewhere.Yea, my sniper had a tough time there, too.Just got done turning back on the Fast Travel to Sanctuary and all I can say about that mission is, wow, tough! For those of us without twitter, are these codes something you can post in this thread for everyone to use? Or are they unique?Gearbox top dog! He will tweet out codes for keys
They are first come first serve. Anyone can use them but there is a limit (something like the first 10k to redeem and then it runs out). For those of us without twitter, are these codes something you can post in this thread for everyone to use? I don't have a twitter account either, however you can go to his page and view his recent tweets.'TxBuckeye said:For those of us without twitter, are these codes something you can post in this thread for everyone to use? I did this too. That RPG was worth nearly 10 grand. Hellz yeah!'NewlyRetired said:I just killed a Chubby (big fat special rack that is rare in the game) and he dropped a phenomenal Orange level rocket launcher. Only the second orange item I have seen in 24 levels now. This thing has incredible specs and leeboards super fast. And it has a hidden ability that when you reload it, it gets thrown like a grenade like the Tediore weapons but it acts like a bouncing Betty and just keeps bouncing around until it hits something. This thing will stay in one of my slots for a long time as it is so simple to revive yourself when fighting for your second wind.

It is part of the main story mission Where Angels Fear to Tread, part 2.How do you access the weapons box behind the bars in Roland/Your safehouse in Sanctuary? I hit the button but it doesn't do squat.
And this is the reason that i open every stinking thing i see in this game. Lets see some pics of the orange/yellow weapons people are getting!I found it in the Fridge.

LMAO!!! Hmmm...a team is only as strong as it's weakest member. Interesting concept! Seriously, I understand that most people want the best loot, but there are only so many slots in the backpack. If sharing is not done, the team doesn't really work as unit. This game ROCKS when 2-4 players act like a unit. It is an awesome feeling clearing an area and wondering why that was so easy. This is the bad side of playing with my son. He is a total loot whore. All I get is the left over crap he doesn't want. Yeah my coop friend and I have a main rule about guns and that is that we each choose a primary gun type as our own. ie. in Borderlands 1 I held reserve on all Assault Rifles and he used SMGs. It made it very easy to not have to worry about what popped out of a chest. Sometimes I'd open a chest and there would be 4 SMGs in it and I'd simply yell to him that this chest was his and walk away from it.LMAO!!! Hmmm...a team is only as strong as it's weakest member. He's a teenager, so he's just acting like one. "Ooooh, shiny!!!!!" He plays a lot more co-op and online play now so I imagine he'll do better at sharing. But when we were playing the original Borderlands, we were doing split screen. So occassionally I'd make him open his inventory and be directive about what he was handing over!Yeah my coop friend and I have a main rule about guns and that is that we each choose a primary gun type as our own. ie. in Borderlands 1 I held reserve on all Assault Rifles and he used SMGs. I haven't played enough to really know the areas yet. I'd say hit up a fast travel machine and just choose it from there. Then you'll know you are in the right area. I imagine though that this thing won't spawn until you reach a certain level. I figure sooner or later a side quest will take me there, then I'll worry about it. I rarely use a rocket launcher anyways. Is where the midgets pop out of the little boxes that you loot??
Oh you should get used to swapping out one spot on the regular with a Rocket Launcher. Get one that does shock or corrosive damage and shield enemies go bye bye quick!!! It's a great weapon to use at first and especially if you have at least two other good main weapons that you can equip when a fire fight gets hectic.I haven't played enough to really know the areas yet. You are not completely alone on this...I for one recognize places when I get there and some names (places and missions) are very familiar, but I have trouble remembering specifics and distinguishing the differences between them...to include which boss is where.Ah ok, I am past that and found a couple in other areas. We'll be playing on separate machines now from separate locations, so I don't think I'll be able to see his inventory screen anymore? I'll also miss being able to roll my eyes at him every time he whores all the loot. You know, throwing out one of those "Really?!?" glances at him each time. And watching him trying to justify it each and every time. Good times.LOL, classic!!!Nothing like seeing 3 or more good weapons of certain type sitting in his backpack unused, while you are rocking a white lvl 3 of that weapon.
I have one that I use sparingly. Does about 1200 damage. No elemental damage at all though. I have yet to find a single elemental RL. So this one does 1200 but only has a two round clip. I use it when I can find a protected position from which to fire at those bigger machines (forget what they are called). That's really the only use I have found for it. Other than that, I have become a big fan of the Corrosive SMG and Pistol. Absolutely tears up the robots. And one slot is always reserved for my sniper rifles, of which I have a large variety of elementals.Oh you should get used to swapping out one spot on the regular with a Rocket Launcher. I basically have an SMG, Pistol, and Sniper Rifle of each type. No shotgun though, which I think uses explosive instead. So I guess I have found equal bits of each. In fact, I have to say, thinking back, Fire is what I usually found first, then corrosive, then electric, then slag.Anyone else finding or not finding a lot of fire based weapons? I have tons of electric, slag and acid but almost nothing when it comes to fire.
Used to find fire weapons that were my best one's in inventory. Then something switched and now the fire weapons are the weakest. Seems to come in waves...I for one, seem to never find a SLAG. I had one near the beginning and sold it by mistake. Haven't found one since.Anyone else finding or not finding a lot of fire based weapons? I have tons of electric, slag and acid but almost nothing when it comes to fire.
You are on ps3, right? Add me if you are, bizerker21. You will be able to say you have an elemental RL then.I have one that I use sparingly. Does about 1200 damage. No elemental damage at all though. Yes, I meant the area. Not a box.
