Westbrook sits out Friday

Brian Westbrook, RB PHI

News: Eagles RB Brian Westbrook missed practice for the second straight day with a knee injury and is questionable for the Eagles' game against Miami on Sunday. "I think he'll be ready to go," coach Andy Reid said Friday. "It's not bad. There's a little swelling." Westbrook missed one game earlier this season with an abdominal injury and often plays despite missing practice. Reid said Westbrook noticed some swelling in his knee after lifting weights following Wednesday's practice. He was held out of practice the next two days because the team practiced indoors on an artificial surface.

In Week 3 of last season, Westbrook missed practice due to knee swelling and still went out and rushed for 117 yards and two touchdowns against the 49ers. He also hauled in a scoring pass from Donovan McNabb.

That workload may be eased somewhat this week with backup Correll Buckhalter available for duty. Buckhalter was a late scratch last week because of flu-like symptoms.

"'Buck' will be back up this week and he'll get in there and be able to spot him when needed," Reid said.

Apparently Philadelphia's WIP 610 AM just reported that Tony Hunt is inactive today.... which I can't imagine would be the case if Westbrook were to be out.

If the injury is nothing - why wouldn't the Eags just list Westy as "Probable"? The "Questionable" designation is what is worrying me as a Westbrook owner.

...I have owned him the last two years so I am familiar with this type of "Westbrook Experience"... the Q is what has me concerned more than usual this morning.

I agree with the Q comment. This is a bad situation considering who we're talking about. My other concern is the opponent. This game could be out of reach before half time, so why would Reid risk further injury to Westy? I think even if he plays it will be very limited.

yeah, I am half tempted to play both Westbrook and Buckhalter at this point.

Except he can do more with limited snaps than most RBs can do in a full game. Even 15 snaps probably gets him 100 total yards against this team.

He's active. Hunt is inactive. If they were really worried about him, they would not have deactivated Hunt. Zach Thomas is inactive for the Fins, making them easier to run on. Play Westy without reservation.

Yes, I am a Westbrook owner and YES, I am a Dolphins fan. Although the Dolphins are 0-9 i just have a feeling that with Beck starting it will give the Dolphins some extra drive for this game. I'm not saying that they will win the game, but I do think they will keep it close. With that said, I think Westy will be in for most of the game and more then likely put up some good numbers.

Go Dolphins and go Westy

More than anything else, the Eagles need to get some confidence in their offense. They will not take their foot off the gas pedal even if this game is not close.

:goodposting: That's all I needed to know.

Seems to me that with this injury, a good game plan would include even more screen passes instead of rushes. Nice in PPR.

Keep in mind that C-Buck was inactive because I think he was sick, so they just shut him down that week.

Westbrook was off due to practicing on turf Th/Fri. He's a go and a must start.

C-Buck if you are desperate for a RB3/Flex and a possible late TD or garbage score.

Sloppy track could mean a lot of runs - wait this is Philly :goodposting: .

Call it the Belichick or Shanahan rule, but injury designations are now based on the amount of practice time a player has during the week. Basically, its so the aforementioned coaches cant just list everyone as questionable and then start 90% of them. LINK

Westbrook active in Week 11

Brian Westbrook, RB PHI

News: Eagles RB Brian Westbrook is active for Philadelphia's Week 11 game with the Dolphins and is expected to start the contest. Westbrook had been questionable entering Sunday with a knee injury.

Analysis: With Zach Thomas out for Miami, Westbrook could be in for a monster game on Sunday afternoon. Feel confident starting him in all leagues as per usual. :goodposting:

Brian Westbrook is the other side of the Shanahan coin. You still have to ride through the maze of uncertainty, but in the end you'll be happy, not sad.
