***OFFICIAL*** Cardinals vs. Dodgers Playoff Thread (1 Viewer)

If Clayton Kershaw pitches like he did on Saturday, the Dodgers take this series. If not, then I think the Cards win it.

No, it's more like, if Carpenter and Wainwright pitch like they have all year, the Dodgers cannot win this series, unless the Cardinals offense falls into another funk.

lol"If the Cardinals score more runs than the Dodgers in 3 of the games they play, the Cardinals will win the series. If not, it's going to be a tough one to pull off."

### #### Holliday. That AB killed the Cards inning. Just sat there and looked at a few good pitches and was called out on strikes.

And now the Dodgers have the lead.

I am aggravated already. :goodposting:

I know. But, Wolf doesn't look that great. They may get into the Dodger bullpen early tonight. Carp is settling down too.

Would it have killed TBS to show a replay of Ludwick's drive down the left field lane that looked foul by about an inch? I would have liked to have seen that one again. Nice coverage. :goodposting:

If Carp can settle here, we'll get in this game.
Are you under the impression that the Dodgers bullpen can't hold a lead?
Please don't tell me you waited an hour and let the dodgers add to their lead twice before quoting me and asking this question. Why not wait till the end of the game? Then you know you'll be on solid ground. sheeshFTR I know how good the LA bullpen is. I follow the game all year.

Just asking.

Well that was excruciating. 4 hours to finish a 5-3 game - wow. Glad to see the Dodgers get the win. Neither starter had good stuff tonight, but liked what I saw from the bullpen. Hope Kershaw is dealing like he did in his last start.

Belisario, Kuo, Sherrill and Broxton is such a sick 6-7-8-9. Starter only needs to go five innings when you can roll them out.

Troncoso has been excellent too, and his sinker induces double plays. This is the best bullpen I can ever remember the Dodgers having in my lifetime, and maybe ever (though I acknowledge that the use of the bullpen has evolved over the years).

The Dodgers winning game 1 is precisely the reason I said this. If Kershaw is on then I like their chances in game 2, and in a short series . . .

Must win for the Cardinals tonight. I think Wainwright will be on tonight. Just need to get the offense going, which has been a recurring theme the whole season.

Really nice to see Ethier off to a good start in the playoffs after struggling down the stretch. Kemp, on the other hand, remains frustrating in that he can't lay off the curve low and outside.

What is Torre thinking. Kershaw struggles through six innings without his best stuff and does well to keep the Dodgers tied 1-1. That should have been it for Kershaw even if his spot wasn't coming up to bat in the bottom of the inning. Yet, Torre wastes him at the plate and puts him out for the seventh to predictably allow a run and be pulled before the end of the inning. Torre yanks Wolf, who usually is able to settle down and give some good innings after early game struggles, after 3 2/3 yesterday and then leaves in a struggling Kershaw too long today.

I'm shocked -- SHOCKED -- that Joe Torre made a mistake with his pitching staff in a playoff game.Honestly, I've been through it all with him. He's a great guy, great in the clubhouse, players usually love him...but he is ridiculously awful at handling his staff.

What a wretched way to end a game. I'm with RNR, Matt Holliday can go whore himself out to the highest bidder this offseason for all I care.
