9.5 games up in the central, I think they win it by 16 games, kind of boring if your an Indians fan, but a good thing
Obviously that's as much about the division being bad as the Tribe being good.

It does kinda feel like a recent Cavs season though where we fans are just looking ahead to the playoffs and trying to figure out if we can compete with the powerhouses.

Controllable, bad RF defense, hits the long ball, and K’s a plenty. Perfect fit!

Would you rather have him or Melky if that’s the options?

Kind of player I wouldn’t mind acquiring cheap and putting in the 8-hole to maybe hit a game changing HR or 2 in an October series.
Honestly, Melky hasn't looked bad since being called back to the club.  If I had the choice, I'd stick with Melky/Guyer platooning RF and look for a CF.  I can't believe I'm going to type this, but I would rather see Hamilton's defense in CF then look for Gallo in RF.  This team has proven it can put runs on the board when the bottom half of the lineup isn't hitting.  Put some defense in the OF and see how that will help.

Nothing wrong with anything you said.  If we had all the realistic options they have in front of them and what we would have to give up, this probably wouldn't be all that difficult to figure out.  Most or all of the players that would be on the list would not require one of our better prospects.  Make multiple moves.  Time is now.

I've seen reports in the last 12 hours linking us to Cutch, Bryce Harper, Hamilton, Cameron Maybin, Frank Dorn and a partridge in a pear tree.

Don't mind the Martin Trade.  Solid defense and controllable for another year.  He'll do well with Davis in CF, which moves Allen to RF, I guess.  I'd still like to see another trade come through, like Dietrich or even Beltre.  I really liked our IF defense when Jose was at 2B.  Urshela played very well at 3B, just didn't produce at the plate.  Put Beltre there instead, and that's a whole other deal.

Non-Waiver Trade Deadline closed, and we got Mercado (OF) from St. Louis at the buzzer.  Some Cards fans are not happy about this trade.  June article from Fansided, Osacar Mercado is the Real Deal.

With it all said and done, not too bad.  The team addressed the OF situation and Bullpen situation bringing in young, controllable guys without giving away too much.

DATE PLAYER POS TRANSACTION
July 31, 2018 Oscar Mercado OF Traded From, St Louis (for OF Jhon Torres and OF Conner Capel)
July 31, 2018 Leonys Martin CF Traded From, Detroit (w/ RHP Kyle Dowdy for SS Willi Castro)
July 19, 2018 Adam Cimber RP Traded From, San Diego (with LHP Brad Hand for C Francisco Mejia)
July 19, 2018 Brad Hand RP Traded From, San Diego (with P Adam Cimber for C Francisco Mejia)

CLE also holds the first spot in the August WW pecking order, so good opportunity get another big name in through the Aug WW Trades.

Def think the plan is for an Aug waiver move like Cutch. If I’m disappointed over anything, seems like we could have added another bullpen arm at a reasonable price to solidify it in case Miller is a wreck. Not sure what NRam can give us when it matters and I’d rather have him one more spot down the depth chart.

Could be Miller Time tonight!!

Miller Activated and McCallister DFA'd

:banned:  Here's to hoping he's closer to 100% than he is to 60%

I don't really pay attention to the rest of the league other than the team we're playing. Does anyone have a 1-2 combo comparable to Kluber and Bauer right now?

You'll see them in the CS. Verlander vs Kluber. Bauer vs Cole. Carrasco vs Kuechel. Clevinger vs Morton.

Cody Allen to the rescue again. <_<
:X :yucky:

Cody seemed to be doing well in the 7th/8th inning spots.  Why change that and put him in to close again?  Just give the closer role to Hand and move on.  Every time I see Cody on the mound in a save situation I get nauseous and immediately think "we're going to lose this one".

Mauer doesn't have L/R splits, but Rosario does - as do Hand and Allen.  Rosario was coming up in the 8th, so use Hand to navigate them then figure out the next move when you get there.  No matter how you feel about it, that's how Tito operates.

I get it...but it doesn't mean I have to like it.   :P

Given this is a contract year for Allen, he just hasn't been performing like it lately.  Earlier this season it wasn't too bad.  But unfortunately many look at the "what have you done for me lately", and that hasn't looked too good.

Going to watch the Tribe take on the Reds tonight at GABP!  I try to make at least one game when they're down here.  The kids started school today and they don't know we're going.  Can't wait to surprise them when they get home!

Not a bad game last night.  Allen looked good, but I still don't trust him as a closer again.  As much as he said that he likes that pressure and prepares for it, I swear he looks uneasy out there in those situations.  Going back to a setup mentality may help him reset himself.  If Miller can return to a consistent form, the Tribe will have three very good arms for the 7th, 8th, and 9th innings.

Hoping Bauer can recover quick enough to get another start or two before playoffs begin.  A stress fracture on his push leg isn't good.  Need to make sure thats fully healed - or at least pain free.  Too bad about his Cy Young type season.  He has been pitching great this year.

Hoping Martin is out of the woods with his infection/illness.  Scary stuff.  Allen has been doing well to replace him, but I like Martin better out there.  Hopefully he can return in Sept to get back into shape for the playoffs.  Maybe?

Leonys Martin is done for the year. :(

However, the fact they’ve played well in the first two games against the BoSux brightens my outlook on the postseason.

Tom Hamilton talked about Brad Keller of the Royals, and started making fun of his hometown, Flowery Branch, Ga. Specifically, saying they couldn't possibly be good at football with such a weak name. He was later informed that Flowery Branch won their opener last week 70-6. Fun fact: I'm the PxP voice for Flowery Branch, and I called that game.

You guys know I hate the Tribe but everyone talking about everyone but them. I wouldn’t want to play these guys in the playoffs. If they get situational hitting in October, they’re gonna be tough to beat imo.

Was pretty ticked off a few hours ago hearing other deals going down.  I'll take a shot on Donaldson.  If your pen can't pitch, might as well try to put a few more runs on the board.  Maybe we can snag a useful arm here in the last hour.

I had no issues with the winning streak last year and all that (my issues were with some of Tito's decisions down the stretch).....but this is the kind of team that probably thrives on being under the radar.  I'll take it.

Per Zack Maisel:

Jose Ramirez told Francona he was willing to shift to 2B; he just didn't want to bounce back and forth. As for Francona's talk with Jason Kipnis: "I don't think he was jumping for joy."
