CC is not going anywhere before the deadline. This is unbelievable. The only "upside" is that, at this rate, they'll be 7-8 games out by the trade deadline, and can actually get a left fielder for Sabathia.
If they're far enough out, with no progress in talks (which aren't happening anyway), they'll deal him, rather than get nothing for him at the end.CC is not going anywhere before the deadline. This is unbelievable. Did you just compare Mark Shapiro to Art Modell? The point is that executives aren't always exactly truthful. We'll see.Did you just compare Mark Shapiro to Art Modell? When has Shapiro not been truthful? I don't recall a time that he has been, especially about something as significant as their ace pitcher. I look at him in a similar light as Savage, they'll be quiet about some things they feel they shouldn't talk about, but if they say something expect it to be true. One of the reasons I really respect the Indians organization, as a Tigers fan it's rather difficult but seeing so many terribly run teams in the majors I feel I have to give credit where credit's due. Fact is, he's not going anywhere until after the season, you and the rest of the Indian fans screaming for a trade need to come to terms with that. The point is that executives aren't always exactly truthful. I'm not screaming for a trade. I don't want him to be traded. But if they are realistically out of the race by the deadline, Shapiro would be a fool to not listen to offers. Didn't think of it that way....good thought. Was down there last night...was as pissed as everyone after that 9th...the place emptied like they were giving out free beer after Sexon's HR.Someone please explain this Wedge line of thinking...Byrd goes 4-hit shutout ball for 7.2 IP...with a man on 1st Wedge brings in Perez to face Ichiro...understandable as he wants the lefty-lefty matchup and Ichiro already has two hits off Byrd.Mariners try to steal and Martinez throws out the baserunner ending the 8th. Instead of bringing Perez back out for the 9th to face Ichiro, he brings in Betancourt. Betancourt promptly gives up a single to Ichiro, wild pitch, blowing the save.Yes, he's the closer, blah, blah, blah...but this move really pissed me off.
Thats just awful. How in the world can you ever experience an awesome come-from-behind thriller if you hit the bricks before the game is over? I can remember many games where the Indians rallied back from impossible deficits to win. A game against the Royals in KC in 2005 comes to mind. They scored like 11 runs in the 9th. Tom Hamilton always loves to rip fans that leave early. He breaks out the "POUND THE DASHBOARD! YOU MISSED A GREAT GAME!" line. Was down there last night...was as pissed as everyone after that 9th...the place emptied like they were giving out free beer after Sexon's HR.
Apparently Francisco is headed back to the big leagues as soon as his required 10 days are up back in AAA. Outright release of Michales in store?
Tough to say. I think it's gonna be hard for Wedge to not play him 5 times a week if he hits. He's a hitter, been solid at AAA and good enough from what I've seen in the majors. Offense needs something right now, but there are others doing worse than Dellucci. I wouldn't even be suprised to see one of them in RF once a week.MAC_32 said:How many days/week do you think we'll be seeing Francisco? I'm looking at picking him up in a deep league. He'll be on the lefty end of the left field platoon, but will he get enough time in right to warrant a roster spot?
Certainly not me. I can't believe that's the same guy I watched last year.Dude has been A W E S O M E !!!What the Cliff Lee in hell is going on with Cliff Lee and hell? WTF? Which one of you Tribe fans saw this coming?
Completely agree. He's nailing the target with his fastball almost every pitch. Then mixing in the breaking ball when needed. The curve ball strikeout to get Matsui was a thing of beauty.I haven't seen a guy command the strike zone and have as good of location as Lee has in the last month in a long, long time.
Not bad Cliff. Not bad at all.Did you see the company he is in after winning his first six starts w/ ERA under 1.00? I think there were four guys listed....Unit, Clemens and a few others, maybe Pedro. All of those four on the list won the Cy Young.
He took a big, mighty swing and hit the ball exactly one foot. It was hit so close to home the throw to 1st got Pronk by about 20 feet.I was on the road last night and listened to the game on the radio. How bad did Hafner look in that pinch hit at bat when he hit into the double play? Bases loaded 1 out and grounds out to the catcher for an easy double play.![]()
When do you guys think Hafner will bust out of this if at all? He has a pretty poor year last year as well.He took a big, mighty swing and hit the ball exactly one foot. Never. Hes the same player as Giambi now. HGH is a hell of a drug apparently and helped both players put up some great #s.When do you guys think Hafner will bust out of this if at all? Betancourt is a mess.Time to get Clifford the win.
Definitely not the same guy we saw last year.Betancourt is a mess.Time to get Clifford the win.
Nice unassisted triple play last night as well.![]()
CLEVELAND (AP)—Asdrubal Cabrera was so excited to make history that he threw it away.Cleveland’s young second baseman turned the 14th unassisted triple play in major league history Monday night in the second game of a doubleheader against Toronto—then flipped the ball to fans behind the Indians’ dugout.“He came off the field and tossed the ball into the stands,” explained Indians first base coach Luis Rivera, serving as the 22-year-old Cabrera’s interpreter. “Right as he did, he cried out, ‘Oh, no!”’

Great to see C.C. turn it around. After starting the season at 0-3 with a 13.50 ERA in four starts, Sabathia is 3-2 with a 1.49 ERA over his last five. He struck out 11, walked two and threw a five-hitter at Oakland.
