***OFFICIAL*** Combine Updates Thread (2 Viewers)

I won't be able to attempt to type verbatim today. I''m on daddy duty.

The show schedule was just up and it's only Young and Leinart press conferences today. It's mostly coaching interviews

Thompson is on now
What? Daddy duty? Does Mrs. Bri not know that the combine has started? What in the world is going on?

Lienart will throw Apr. 2nd on his pro day. No workouts today.

Thinks playing at USC will be advantage for him, talking about following Carson Palmer and practicing against an "NFL style defense". Mentions Tutopu (sp?) and Polamalu. Said the hype surrounding the USC program will prepare him for the NFL (Interviews and expectations, etc).

Asked if he had more to lose by throwing is that why no throwing at the combine -- he said he's showed his stuff the past three years, and thinks maybe some other guys may have something to lose but that isn't his mindset.

Asked about going to Tenn Titans -- talked about reunited with NChow, mentions Fischer as a USC guy...very complimentary towards them.

Asked about himself vs VYoung and JCutler -- Lienart said that he has "leadership, game manangemnt, work ethic, I'm a winner". Said he's like a "tom brady type -- a winner".

Said staying this extra year at USC has made him a much better QB, was really able to study the game this year, said mental game much improved.

Said he knows people question his arm strength, said he doesn't question it himself. Said he's more mobile than people think, he just never had the chance to scramble much. said he's "deceivingly fast" admitted he isn't fast, but is faster than ppl think. Said he can make people miss and throw on the run.

Said he's talked to Carson, Peyton, Eli, Alex Smith...said Carson has been helping him handle all this with advice -- said he really looks up to CPalmer.

More, still trying to get high points....

edit..actually, that was about it.

cool Ahrn, thanks

Few things about Leinart

I was impressed how many QBs he's chatted with. He spent a day with Gannon showing him how he prepared for games and mentioned the Mannings a bunch, Carson alot.

Alot of Chow "little digs" in there. He's gotta be thinking "just one more spot". He said Chow was his mentor and they are friends and still keep in touch. Fisher is from USC and(titans titans titans) then Mora comes on and "He's gonna be a fine QB for the Saints and it's (Saints saints saints)

I said it a week or two ago but I still wonder if Chow's got any pull and they'll move up one spot.

Biggest thing with his pro day over combine(IMO) was "my receivers" and I didn't like that. Get over it, they won't be with you in the pros

They won't, but he'll have WR's he plays with every day. I don't have a problem with the top picks not performing at the combine because their job is to get drafted high, not prove anything. The combine is for players who want to improve their draft position.

Vince Young:

Doesn't care what team he goes to. Just wants to play football.

said there's nothing wrong with his throwing motion -- said that's all the media talking.

Will work out on the 22nd.

Said he has talked to Stever McNair and said it would be "special" to learn under McNair at Tenn.

Asked about the Rose Bowl, and how it changed his life -- talked about playing for his teamates. said its been crazy and a blessing.

(this guy is not a very good interview, BTW. Talking a lot but not saying much.)

Said he came into college and tried to rely on talent and not hard work, talks about his game being complete now...studying game, finding 1,2,3rd recievers, etc.

Called Lienart a good guy and said they goof around a lot.

Asked if he could adjust to the vertical style of the Raiders, he said you have to. Talked about having to learn an O, doing what it takes. Asked about Al Davis, he said he doesnt care who he plays for.

Asked about how his running ablilty will translate to the NFL, he said he's not going to change anything. Said coaches have told him not to change. Said he will concentrate on both running and throwing.

Got called to do a bit of work...missed the end of it.

You appear to have your priorities in the wrong order. Put the kid in a jumper swing, give it a bottle, & start freakin' typing.Slacker.

Has anybody seen a complete listing yet of Official Ht. and Wt?

I don't think Gil Brandt stuff is completely accurate but is probably roughly accurate.

Childress said something along the lines of "you never know" when asked if Daunte would be cut. After, Mora said that didn't mean he'd be cut but......I think it did. He said Minny sent a trainer to see him. He DID say that he thought Minneapolis was the best place for him.

huh? Yeah, Childress has some BB in him.

Saban said over his 30 years of coaching, rating hard work attitude effort etc, Ricky was one of the tops. I was shocked. He also said ya don't want to lose a guy like that.

He wouldn't comment on Daunte but to say a top caliber QB will interest any team. He did say that they're making a change at QB. They're happy with Frerotte but it'll either be a young QB in the draft or a veteran.

I'm trying to recall it all, it's hard trying to "read thru the lines" then post here what they actually said. Please watch the re-airing to doublecheck me.

beto nfldraftscout has that. They do the biographies for NFL.com and are run by members of the pro football writers association. I don't think they're an official NFL site but well respected.

she's taking a nap so

Marvin Lewis

Kitna best option years ago, felt the org needed to win at that time. Palmer better following year....shocker

They will acquire a QB "whether it be Jon or some other guy" and it should happen fairly quickly.

Has not watched a college tape of a QB

Amazed how many rumors and moves are circulating. Thinks Jon will be offerred a starting job somewhere

Couldn't hear Q, lots of giggling with some guy named "Chick"

Will continue to look at WRs and every position on D(WRs?)

Adam interrupts to say everyteam seems to have QB issues and...put Marvin back on!

Mora doesn't think Palmer will be back week 1 but september isn't the 8th month like he said:-)

Improvement with Carson shouldn't be expected since he's spending his offseason rehabbing. It's possible but he doubts he's better even at the end of next year

Marcus Vick on now

will run and throw but won't lift

working out with tim smith

just wants a team to give him a shot

6-0 201 lbs

this is not a normal press conference(like other draft picks) but he's sitting and guys are shoving mikes in his face

he'll do drills and whatever they want to see

blowing off gun charges says cell phone was thought to be gun

nothing happenned at the time, til detectives showed up at his house at 3am.

one accuser locked up for armed robbery

he seems very confused by what happenned and is afraid of being mislabelled

Cutler on-

stupid Q if this is a competetive environment. Kudos to him for not saying "duh"

had big wins, played well in senior bowl, hopes sunday continues his progress

thinks teams want pocket guys that can move but not guys that run alot

(probably true)

Speaking "We" about his team "I think we deserved wins after all our hard work"

Ya know what? He's the first person to say "We" and not "I" in all these interviews

actually now I'm not sure :bag:

started with "honorred to be compared to him" but couldn't hear who.

ricky was a tremendous back

he's enjoyed meeting all the other players

smiling and friendly seems like a real likable kinda guy, very comfy up there

had hairline fracture back in highschool that he didn't know of and docs noticed. Xray shows it's healed and no prob, just interesting how they can find that stuff

joked he'd be a medical genius aftr he leaves there with all those tests

Thought it might be useful to have one of these where the folks with NFL Network can post times, observationes, etc... from the combine for those of us poor schleps who don't have DirecTV.
If you don't have DirecTV, what do you have? Please, please don't say cable. :bag:

bloom olympic guy is on

humbled by experience of olympics and combine

NCAA took away his passion(football) but glad they're not here today(it was a joke, looks nasty as I type it, it wasn't)

pro day is april 1st in Cali

hasn't run a 40 yet no clue what his time will be

He's not where he can be football wise, obviously

ski boots don't use ankle, similar to casts, so it's different

5-9 173 was his "ski weight" has to be as light as possible and starved himself. Figures to be 185

Cable. Used to have DirecTV, but when I moved to Florida, I heard a lot of horror stories about the summer weather here wreaking havoc with reception, almost got it anyway, then found out I didn't have the exposure. I moved to a new apartment a few months ago, but they don't allow you to mount a dish on the building, so I'd have to stand it on a tripod on my screened porch, which is often filled with drunken idiots playing darts - a recipe for disaster. Cable is really my only alternative at the moment.

deangelo hall on

honorred with pro bowl, had a blast there in Hawaii

"amazing" to play with brooks in that game

Falcons gotta get back to basics/fundamentals to win. People tried too hard and got out of their gaps, shoulda stayed put

mora oops referred to Falcons as "we"

he had no clue Falcons would draft him, met with other 31 teams and not them til last minute.

Mora says he knew that pick was coming

he loves it in atlanta, loves the coach

see nfl draft scoutMKb4 puts in alot of effort here that I appreciate but it looks like a duplicate so I'm torn as to what to say about it. It could just be a copy of the layout and that's all.

OL round 2 coming up. I won't be posting this. I'll try and check back in a little bit. Maybe someone else can.

I was a little annoyed with some of the lack of effort put forth. I don't see how they can not give a sh about their 40 time even if they aren't "supposed to be" fast in the NFL. Those guys shouldn't run. IMO then they look lazy to NFL scouts. I don't understand what was going on.

BTW C Nick Mangold(announcer) has done so well he looks like he'll be a first round pick now. He's established a big gap bet he and other Cs

Davin(sp?) Joseph was just quite impressive in the (standing)high jump. 355lb guy before him was pretty good too but he was WOW

I think to be fair [KeithJackson]these big uglies[/KeithJackson] are not going to look like they are trying in the 40, there just not built for it.

I don't think that was it. Esp now when I'm watching some do these shuttle type drills. Grimace, arms flailing(sp?) they're motorring now. Bugel didn't seem to care for it either and IIRC Coughlin yawned

Fast Forties

Addai 4.37 (2nd run)

Drew 4.41 (2nd run)

Others

Humes 4.65

Calhoun 4.65 (didn't show second run yet)

Lundy 4.56

all unofficial, i believe

Livewire doesn't have any 40's for RB's??

Where are you seeing these numbers????

I know some are coming from the NFL Network but livewire isn't updateing as they go.

talking to Gibbs now, gave nothing on QB situation just that Patrick's not happy with amount of work but "he's a good kid" and such.

Rich McKay was on before saying they may have to cut a bunch to get under the cap.

Rich Eisen ran a 6.2 in the 40, pretty funny

NFL Network is kind of sucking...they're showing the guys run their 40's but not showing us their times. What the heck is the point then?
