I have a hard time believing Parcells will throw one of his guys under the bus while they still have game left.  Key still has some game. 

I'll believe it when I see it regarding Key getting cut.

Hey Ridgelake, what's being reported is, the Cowboys don't mind giving Key a new contract for next season, but they can't see givng a 30+ WR a 3 or 4 year extension which is what Key is wanting (according to the reports).Jean-Jacques Taylor of the Dallas Morning News is reporting this.........he's usually right on the money with his reports.

That was straight from Jerry's mouth from what I understand. I agree Ridge it makes no sense to release Key unless you have a contingency. Which could be anything.I do agree that giving Key 2-3 year deal is a mistake. Release....re-sign to a 1 year deal? Something is up.

I would not mind giving Key a 2 year deal. But 3-4 is unrealistic unless they are filler years. Maybe its just me, but the guy has about a $3.5 mil cap number for 06. Keep him and play him. BP can handle his BS. Well, its all for discussion anyway. We'll find out in an hour whats up.

Decision time on Keyshawn: Receiver Keyshawn Johnson's future in Dallas probably will be decided today at 3 p.m.

If Johnson is on the Cowboys' roster at 3 p.m., he will receive a $1 million bonus. So the Cowboys must decide whether to give him the money or release him.

The bonus alone probably won't make Johnson happy. Johnson, scheduled to earn a base salary of $1.5 million this season, would like a one-year extension and a raise that pays him between $2 million and $3 million.

The Cowboys could pay him the bonus and release him later, but that's unlikely. The sides have not communicated in the last two weeks.

I also just heard that the Texans are trying to trade DD + a 3rd for TO but the Eagles want DD + 1st and the Chiefs are now offering Priest in the trade for TO. This is getting insane man...............I wonder if the Eagles are just putting this stuff out there.

It's all moot now, but those rumors make no sense anyway. A. They wouldn't turn down a 3rd round pick and B. they wouldn't trade for a RB like Davis or Holmes when they already have Westbrook and Moats locked up long term.

If the information out there is correct, they would not be giving up much as far as draft picks are concerned. Also, I thought I saw in the same rumor that a contract was also agreed upon. If this is the case than neither of the things you suggest would be correct. My comment refered only to the fact that is was stated that Peterson would only give a 1 year incentive based contract. Do I believe that he may not have been completely honest with the media in that matter? Yes.

I could be wrong...but, my understanding is that if you trade for TO that you have to pay him the roster bonus he is due today+ the rumoured 6th or 7th round draft pick. I see no reason why TO and his agent would be down with this. That is all I am trying to say.TO is way better off hitting the market and hoping for the Cowboys or another team over paying for him.

I guess my understanding of this rumor is different. I took it as a sign and trade type of thing. OR trade and sign type of thing. Eagles trade for a low round pick, keep him out of divisional rivals hands, and the Chiefs have a deal worked out with TO to restructure already worked out. This way they don't have to pay the roster bonus and restructure.

But why would Owens agree to a contract? Presumably, he can get the same contract tomorrow from KC. Or he can do better elsewhere. Even if he wants to play for KC, why make his new team give up the draft picks?

Keyshawn is clearly not the WR he used to be. He's still has great hands and his physical size and strength, but he's a step slower and can't get separation or the yards after the catch that he used to. He's good for converting 3rd downs 9 yards down the field just past the marker and little else anymore.

I think Key will be looking for a place where he can get paid. If Buffalo isn't going to pay an aging Moulds, why would they pay an older Keyshawn? Key is going to want some cash and a ring. Bryant and TO are way different. Bryant couldn't even make the team with Cleveland. He was an average at best WR. T.O. is one of the best in the game and he puts the team over the top. I will swallow my hate against T.O. the second he takes off that crappy green bird uniform and puts on a blue star.What did he do to San Fran? He told the truth. The team sucked and they were going no where. Garcia was crap. T.O. made him good. That is pretty obvious. He said he wanted to go and play for a winner.
